  1. Same thing just happenned last week in Quebec at about same altitude, biplane and landed safely. No radical turns and normal approach. Vigil 2
  2. I know it is my own choice to decide to do it or not, my concern is that when you know that your customer is using a different main and UPT is saying this is a part of a complete system and does NOT approve anything else, term APPROVED should be in consideration,
  3. This is a part of a UPT notice that make me this question. Uninsured United Parachute Technologies, LLC (UPT) does not endorse or approve the use of any canopy in the Sigma Tandem System other than Vector Tandem Canopies (VTC and VTCR), the EZ range of canopies and the Sigma range of canopies, manufactured by Performance Designs, Inc. for UPT. As a FAA rigger, do I have to sign off this system if the owner is using unapproved main canopy, or simply refuse to do it, since that all the system includes the main as well.
  4. We got all of our 15 340 back from PD with the new set-up with Vectran lines etc... Any feedback are welcome like, openeing, flare, packing and more or less malfunctions. Thanks
  5. I am the rigger who might do the inspection at Voltige . I am a FAA master rigger working there full time and if you want more details, please feel free to contact me by email and I will give you my phone no. If you want to ship , please use USPS express service and not UPS, they charge a lot for customs clearence. Frederick 2574292 SY3
  6. If you jump this one as a main on a tandem, you might appear on the incidents forum...
  7. Bottom line is, if you do not have the right tools, skills and licence, just don't do it. Person who did that should stop doing rigging work or be more carefull about his work.
  8. I have to send it to Mirage to do it the right way.
  9. Do not know who did that. Have to send it back to Mirage.
  10. It is a Mirage G4 and on the second picture, it was, I guess, resize... There is about 3 miss stiches per patern and sewing tension is very bad.
  11. Trying to attach pictures!!!
  12. Here is what I found a week ago and It was apparently inspected and repack.
  13. Thanks, I just found one.
  14. I am looking for a Astra cutter.

Well, sounds to politic to me, I know what your saying. Noboby wants to take decisions or if they do so, they do it wrong... Sounds like Quebec governement....they talk , they spend and nothing happens!
  16. Life is a gamble. You have just to try to put all chances on your side, rigger too...

Well, you got my point. I would put my Mojo as reserve because i jumped it and it is just perfect. My point is, CSPA or TC should make a list of what they approve . simple as that. We should have something to follow to avoid any doubt. I know FAA is not always and will be right about certifications but someone have to draw a line. Manufacturers cover their back, FAA as well, but I believe TC should tell CSPA to follow some kind of certification list. Why they request to be TSO on demo jump?.. I am not against any manufacturer but we should have some kind of foundation.

Well. I will just jump my sorcerer BASE rig next season, at all time in Quebec... it just does make sense until the next ourt case with fatality . Sorry to say, if you have no budjet to certified a parachute equipment, just don't do it !

Well, I do understand that even if you have a TSO, you are not safe enough and you still risk your life anyway. BUT,,, that does not mean to avoid all the cost and paperwork to make sure you did everything possible to be safe as possible. I believe Transport Canada should follow the same rules as FAA , as they always did anyway, why put skydiving activity away from thieir business... If you do not put any rules, you are just telling me that TC tolerate any kind of shit into skydiving equipment, as long as there is no fatality.... I just do not get it!!

Well, Mirage told me to remove any non approved reserve parachute and send me a written note. I just do not understand why canadian goes over FAA rules. Anyway, I will never permit somebody to jump an equipment that is not approved or tested to save his life from a perfectly approved airplane.

Thank god transport Canada does not permit to replace any airplane parts to canadian tire bolts....

So, in Canada, we are able to jump any kind of weird reserve into any TSO harness. What about the manufacturer rules? I would like to find this written article about this issue in Canada. That would be the only country to go against the manufacturer rules.... Quote
