  1. Hmmm... Don't think that HAS caught up w/ the DZs where I'm training yet. I'll check into getting trained in doing those though. Thanx. Sounds like FUN! -LILA.

1st Jump, While getting rigging awkwardly tightened and retightened around my crotch and boobs, the Video guy said during his running commentary, "...Uh, this is Amy. We hired her out of The House Of Pain..."
  3. Yeah, personally, I WILL JUMP in towards winter AS LONG AS I CAN...But franky, I'm amazed at all the jumpers who are falling out due to being "so cold!" PANSIES! And THAT goes for some of YOU instructors who are whimping out on us students, too! SO THERE! NOW * SIGH* that I've got THAT off my chest... Lots of us Northerners look forward to SNOW (BUT w/mixed feelings for us skydivers, tho) and are getting keyed up for skiing & snowboarding,TOO!
  4. Sorry to hear that things are dragging out so long, for ya dude....4 YEARS, tho?! Yeah, in response to the first Q. About loosing track of a parent: Yes. When I was married I occasionally would lose track of my daughter's father...amazing how people can "disappear" sometimes even in a small town! But, luckily, he ain't my "problem" any more! Attempting to be congenial, or at least corgial with an EX- or with estranged family- is BEST for your kids (and you) even though it takes MUCHO will power and BIG TIME self-control.
  5. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah... Ya Goof! I mean whuffling- not woobling, right? It's a tension thing from NOT relaxing. Anyways one of my JMs has recommended periodically doing toe taps to self-check leg/foot position. Could be helpful to you, too. Hang in there dude. I'm having set backs right now due to the DZ I'm at...very well may be changing to another place soon that is more able to train me...Plus sounds like could be open later in the season, too...+Some in winter, also depending... Good luck...Have fun & Be safe -
  6. "In the world of a specialty - diving, climbing, caving- cliches formed, egos became wrapped in layer after layer of shared hype, of the glamour of overcoming real and imagined dangers, of feeling the exquisite pleasure of keeping secrets denied the uninitiated. Devotees ran the risk of becoming intoxicated by their own differences. Finally they came to resemble the stereotypical Parisian; if one couldn't speak the language, and flawlessly, the conversation was over." Blind Descent by Nevada Barr (pg.8) Cool, huh? I can see how it'd be easy to isolate into skydiving cliches - those who know, those who don't. As a newbie, I want to understand MORE...I understand SOME, but need for those who are experienced to SHARE their knowledge in a down to earth manner... - to enlighten & teach with what they knowand what they've done, too.
  7. WOW! Is it REALLY true that "most people who make a skydive only make one jump"?!? Hard to believe! I went TANDEM for my 1st jump...AND I WAS HOOKED
  8. Hey, thanx for the PH# Chris... Weegirl...What's the directions to Tecumseh from North of G.R. via the 131 x-way? Where is Skydive Tecumseh? Is it hard to find? Thanx so much! It's a BEE-U-T-FULL day in West-Central Michigan TODAY...let's hope for such a clear & sunny day on the weekend TOO! SeeYa!
  9. Hi Fred! Ummm, I just sent an open letter to a Mt. Pleasant, Michigan DZ in the skydive talk forum...weird, I know, but I'm on-line, and cannot access them otherwise now...I'm trying to get a logbook, My DZ doesn't have any - and I need one! I've decided to log all my jumps into it, and then probably get a hold of Gobles or Napolean to finish up my AFP there. But honestly, I feel worried about leaving my first DZ and finishing up somewhere else... Ya know what I mean?
  10. Couldn't get thru to your website. Access difficult for me. I'm on-line right now, so I'm sending this out in hopes I'll get a response from somewhere there. OK? Hey...My DZ has NO LOGBOOKS available for sale. I basically deal in just in $ & check so credit card is not option for me. Do you have Logbooks there that I can come over and buy from you? I am in great need of one - now! I'm quickly working on some options to push thru on my AFP. I'm living 45 miles from there and depending on when you all are at the DZ I can come over there. Can you help me out? Please respond either here - in open forum, or you can personally e-mail me at Airhead@dropzone.com Thanx so much.
  11. LOVE your "hang-tough" style Dude! Last weekend cloud-cover and winds GROUNDED us students. I pouted the 90 mile drive home and continued to do so for a coupla days! I'm a student in AFP & will continue to jump for as long as I can in this michigan cold weather...to get thru to my A-License(eventually, anyways)!!! I envy those who have better weather all year than we Northerners do! Once I AM licensed I'll take some winter trips to warmer climes to jump, too!
  12. Hmmmm... Thanx! Yeah, I can understand why they'd want to take me back a level or two to see what I know and what kind student I am. That makes sense. My nephew is kind of in the same boat as me. But he's been in a S/L program and has been dragging it out for about 2 years. Now that I AM also into the sport(1st jump was this past July)...I've been trying to motivate HIM to "get a move on" too. Now, HE'S considering going to Florida over the winter and knocking out the whole process w/in a week or two. But that is NOT an option for me. I'd like to continue jumping as late into the unseasonable cooler weather as possible and I don't want that to hold me up in getting my A-License. I guess I'm a die-hard kinda gal! Am I in the minority in feeling this way?
  13. Hi! Did you get all your training done at the same DZ? I am in Michigan so weather is part of the issue, but only the tiniest smidgen of the issue. It seems that not many DZs here offer AFF/AFP training, and that is the way that I am going to get my A-License. Any ideas that'd be helpful to me and others in a similar situation?
  14. I've been encountering some difficulties while trying to get thru my AFP training at my current DZ. A few other students and I were talking about it. We can be very discouraged due to some unavailability of JMs for us, and a vague sense of disregard that we sometimes feel on occassion. Currently I am still trying to get in my level 6 jump in AFP. What do ya think? Thanx.
  15. >Remember when sex was safe and skydiving was dangerous?< HA! I think that YOU are too YOUNG to remember THAT ! Anyways...Isn't this topic, like, brought up every week??? Can't you possibly be a little more creative ? PLEASE
  16. Wow! Squeak - You are so LUCKY to have such experienced JMs! And I can relate exactly! The hardest part for me, too, is exiting...But I absolutely love the freefall!
  17. RichM Hey! What IS THIS Skydive University system that you mentioned? Is this something that I can check out after I finish AFP? (I'm currently training at Skydive Hastings in Michigan.) Thanx - Lila.

    What a day!

VERY COOL! Happy for ya, Seedy. I'm in AFP (1 JM)...I tried to get in level 6 Sat, but got clouded out & winds too high. Like you, I can only jump again in 2 wks, But I'm still needing radio help to land. Must be awesome to be moving forward in your experience and skills... Michigan weather is starting to be troublesome! I'm currently training at Skydive Hastings. Where are you training at?
  19. Romance is an element in life that most of us women crave... candles set the scene.
  20. >i LOVE IMPRESSIONISM< Yeah, me, too... Took some art classes for about two years- and learned to really like surrealism too. I'm very open to new artists or being introduced to different artist's styles with which I am not familiar. I've had an "artist's block" for a while...But actually did some pencil and pastel sketching at the DZ this past wekend. I really'd love to get back into

    14 October

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to You, fellas. Don't think you're too old for Hugs, Kisses and SPANKINGS!!!
  22. Hi, Gerb- What was the trouble with your Level 3 jump? Is that the release dive? Is stability a problem issue with ya? I wobble quite a bit, still trying to truly relax...but am doing okay at learning different movements and how the body reacts in the air...To me it seems like even small movements have such quick reactions, like turns and arches, but tracking/docking seems to need much more pronounced movements to work well for me. I understand the $$$ issue, well, dude. Until I graduate the program, I can really only afford 1 jump a pay check! And barely that, either!
  23. Hey Gerb. Where are you at in your training? I'm STILL trying to get in my next level-AFP#6. Gotta clouded out yesterday.../winds were too strong to let us students jump. So far, I have passed every level on the first try, but #6 make me nervous! 3 more jumps to graduate, and then (hopefully) just 8 more jumps to get the A-license
  24. Yah, I think setting the emotional "thumb screws" on her is a little excessive...But why should she be on your medical? Did you have to pay alimony or somethin' like that?? Really dude, you need to let it go. ...And why the digging at old wounds to keep things from healing?? It is said that if you have a lot of emotions regarding your ex, even negitive- you are not over them yet. Really, who could possibly benefit from prolonged hostility? I DO understand, dude
