    I believe they consider most of it government expense, but I am pretty sure personal and campaign travel require the president or campaign to reimburse the value of a first class ticket to avoid this.

    At the same DZ I was in the playground area to the west. I went about 2000' back and forth in a line 3 times under the student 270 and only lost about 50' in altitude. I was still on the radio and the instructor had me pull a 360 to get down a bit. It might be fun to nearly paraglide under a skydiving canopy if traffic and time permits this coming summer. Are the thermals similar at San Marcos?

    I should have introduced myself months ago instead of lurking, but now seems as good of a time as any as I got my license just before the new b'ak'tun (for those of us that were celebrating the end of the world by jumping out of the aircraft!). I did two tandem jumps with the intent of starting AFF back in '01, but Money, Life, and Children all conspired to add an eleven year delay to the process before I did my first AFF jump. I have a bunch of friends at my home DZ, Skydive Temple in Salado. My wife is a paraplegic and really enjoys tandem jumps, and my kids have many years to wait till they try it, but I'm sure they will be around the DZ with us many times.

    I'm pretty sure as long as you provide the correct notice to the FAA (at least 1 hours notice) it's perfectly legal to jump from a balloon and no one has anything to worry about.
