Cutaways/Reserve rides..Who's the king of Chops
obelixtim replied to trigger's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
2 in 4000 jumps. but I have about 20 intentional cutaways, so they don't count. I know a guy who has 34 chops and reserve rides, in about 10000 jumps, but he doesn't mess around with anything, any doubt and its gone. We told him to apply for another A licence after his 25th chop. My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing.... -
You might like to go to a shop that sells equestrian gear.....There's is bound to be a horsey store somewhere near you. Have a look at some jockeys goggles. Lightweight and fairly cheap. Its all I and most skydivers ever use. My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....

Agreed....spend the money on training. My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....

Hey Jim, how you doing?. Mainly saw Shirley at various Nationals over the years. Always a nice lady. I'm sure there were a few familiar faces, albeit a bit more grey about the temples. Hope you are well. My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....

20 Spitfires found in Burma could be made airworthy

I heard the captain was doing a drive-by to impress his friends on Greenland. Yeah, but the cook didn't go down with the ship...as the captain of today assumed was the tradition... First I've heard the name of the iceberg...Hugh. Saw another thread which said if it wasn't for Kate Winslett flashing her boobies, this anniversary might have passed unnoticed... I'm surprised about what you found there, we got our first tandem rig around 1988/89, and I don't recall NOT having an AAD on it... I certainly don't recall installing an AAD at a later date, (my riggers logbooks are stashed away, 12000 miles from where I am right now), but if your search says so, I must have fitted AAD's retrospectively... I'm claiming alzheimers here ...it was 20 odd years ago, after all..... By 1995 we had 7 or 8 tandem rigs and they were all fitted with AAD's. (FXC's) One reason people might have been wary about electronic AAD's in their early days, would simply be a lack of trust, and an unwillingness to use them until proven over a reasonable period of time. FXC came out with a perfectly serviceable Tandem AAD. We had them on all our tandem rigs. They were fine. Never had one fire in anger.... The only time we had a problem with one was when it was returned from a factory service incorrectly reassembled, and a reserve popped on opening one time. The TM actually reached around and cauught the bagged reserve as it fell out of the container, and gave it to the rider to hold on to (tightly) until they landed. The problem was a chamfered washer which had been installed up side down, something almost impossible to spot, The activation cable popped out of the body of the unit, pulling the reserve pin. Daks are great jumpships. I'd give anything to go for a fang in a Spitfire though.... My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing.... -

. Its the same with trotting out "well they died doing something they loved", as if it was some consolation..... Absolute B.S. I say. Dead is dead, Game over.... I'm sure more than a few skydivers experienced sheer terror as they rushed to meet their maker, when they were out of options and realised what was coming next. I did read a great quote from someone, can't remember who it was. It went something like: "Do I fear death?. No, I don't fear death, I just don't want to be around when it happens". My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....

I'm sure those who die young would disagree. I wonder how many Mr Watts spoke to?. Its like, "live fast, die young, make a pretty corpse". Or as the refrain from the wars was: "Our glorious dead". What a crock!!!. Nothing glorious or pretty about being dead.... As long as you are alive you have the option to change things. If you live miserably without changing it, its your own damn fault. I know quite a few "fast livers" who are now dead, and I'm certain all of them would rather be elsewhere, alive, rather than pushing up daisies. You're a long time dead, and soon forgotten.... + 1. You've got plenty of time ahead of you to downsize, especially if you spend it on the DZ rather than the hospital. My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing.... -
Its a given that at almost every accuracy competition, at least one competitor will injure themselves. However I can't ever recall anyone dying, in competition OR in practise for competition.... My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....
