  1. Looks nice, but this would not work. It's not a GPS beacon, it's a Bluetooth device, range of about 100 feet. If a mobile phone with the correct app running detects the token, the phone posts a GPS signal. For finding a canopy in the woods, a range of 100 feet (best case) is insufficient.
  2. I had double pillows on all my rigs so far. This was recommended by the experienced freeflyers at my DZ (D ring being too much of a snag hazard for freeflying in their opinion), so I went with it and trained my EPs extensively. I now realize that a D handle would certainly work as well, but since I had two good reserve rides with a pillow handle, I don't see a reason to go back.
  3. A friend of mine was a test jumper for it, still uses it. The angle is fixed (works for head up/head down and belly though) and he has minor issues with vibration at high speed (could be the helmet itself). He likes it very much though and is still jumping it.
  4. What he said. Is this a late April fool's joke for the Norwegian media?
  5. I've been hit by one! Proof? Here you go: http://youtu.be/gcUt_PSsYwQ I've got to quote Airtwardo on this. If you say "gullible" really slow, it sounds like oranges.
  6. This would have been invaluable 2 years ago. Still a good addition, but since the remote is working quite reliably these days, I don't really need this. Which does not mean I don't want it :) Love my HypEye, it's just reassuring.
  7. Thanks, using any drop zone from the search was a great a feature to add. Although I just used it for fun, it was interesting to see how the reference points on my drop zone translated to your sim. On my wish list: increased sink rate in turns Thanks again, this is really good!
  8. I'll give it a try! But is it 9.47 UTC or EST? I don't want to drift from my slot just because that damn planet is sideways! Then again... Trackdive anyone?
  9. A close call indeed, congrats to all involved for surviving that jump! The points about tracking and awareness are all valid of course. But correct me if I'm wrong, it looks to me as if the guy in the blue canopy already pulled low and the camera guy did so as well. Just as he's past the blue canopy and looks back, you can already see other canopies open way above the blue one. Also, when he's collapsing the slider, you can see on his alti that the camera jumper is already down at 1500. I think that's pretty low, even if he had to avoid the other guy (which was more luck than anything else).
  10. Thanks, found some batteries for the Epsilon (the predecessor, almost similar), it uses the same as the Microhawk.
  11. I've got one of those, but I didn't have to change batteries yet. You might get some info from the vendor though: info@robnik.com
  12. Has anyone tried to grab screenshots from a 4k video? I know, it's a mere 8MP, but there are 15 frames per second. Not enough for smooth video, but as stills, it might be ok. What about the exposure here?
  13. Great Scott! A ram-air triplane! I'd really love to see the deployment sequence. Or come to that, the packing procedure of one of those... Though I like the idea of parachutes on a truck. Anyone care to take this thing to Bridge Day?
  14. Yes, it's the OP video, with Sangi's comment and the OP's reply to it.
