    ADD/ADHD

Diagnosed with ADD at 26 yrs old, three semesters into my Master's studies... Goes to show that you can still go far. I tried Ritalin and it gave me a headache and a dry mouth. I just chose occupations today that play to my strengths (Hyper focus for short bursts, creativity, etc.) I read a great book that does not refer to ADD as a disorder but as an instinctive "hunter" mentality within the context of a "farmer/gatherer" society. I adopted that as my philosophy. I'll PM you the name of the book if you want. I found out later that I had been diagnosed as a kid but my mother refused to put me on meds for it.

    folding tshirts

Dear Ms. SkyBytch, I am responding to your add requesting the services of a half-naked t-shirt folding Cabana Boy. I have many references that will vouch that I've worked in the retail and hospitality industry for many years and I am fully trained in retail t-shirt folding as well as drink-making. Furthermore, I have recently graduated with honors from Bob's School of Male Submissiveness with a degree in walking around half-naked (majored in top, minored in bottom). I belive that my skill will fully meet your needs. Please compose a letter to the US Department of Immigration stating that you require my skills and that no American can adequately fulfill your needs as an employer. By the tone of the responses in this forum, they should believe it. Once I get my green card, I will be more than happy to fold your t-shirts, bring you girly drinks, offer you massages and give you a daily full-monty lap dance in exchange for a meager hourly wage, a few jump tickets and a place to park my trailer. Please let me know. Sincerely Marz.
  9. Dude! I'm glad you think you could stand up to terrorists. I, for one, will not make that statement. Because I've been mugged. I was SURE that if it would ever happen to me I would fight back, but I stood there like a trained monkey with my sphincter shut so tight that you couldn't fit a piece of floss in between my butt cheeks. I'm not sure how I would react if I was in a plane that was being hijacked, but heroics is not at the top of my list. Flame away if you wish.
  10. Rock Climbing, Street racing (on a track, of course!) , snowboarding, mountain biking, oh.... and marrying a south american woman....
  11. Wow. Most guys get "hot, hottie, damn" and I get "how cute with your baby". That'll teach me to post pics with my kid! I'm gonna go drown my sorrow now. Marz

    Convince me!

So I leave for Fort Lauderdale on Dec 27. I'm going to stay with my parents who really frown on my skydiving and I'm travelling with my wife, my son, and all the necessary luggage to take a 9-month-old on a two-week vacation- lots of S&*t! My reserve is out of date and I don't know if I should bring my rig. I've already booked somme tunnel time for the second week I'm there, but I'm debating the hassle of bringing gear down other that my jumpssuit, alti, helmet and logbook. That's already alot. Furthermore, I'll be using my parent's car to travel and if they hear "Sebastian" coming out of my mouth, they're gonna be pissed! So I'm asking you fine people, do I bring the rig? Has anyone read...

Very different viewpoints on what happened, who was at fault, etc, etc. You know, that whole finger pointing thing. If you've read "Into Thin Air" you'll definitely want to read "The Climb". 'Shell Yes, I have been told that. I was looking at a website (i think it was mountainzone or outside online) where Boukrieev (sp?) responds to Krakauer and he responds back. Sounds like those two have issues to work out. Reading that book made me realize a phenomenon that seems to develop in small tight-knit communities - EGO and pissing contests between people. I was relating this to DZ behaviour a little bit, maybe not to the same extent or with the same consequences, but he principles are sometimes the same... I'm actually thinking of going out to buy "the Climb" today to read on the plane when I fly down to Florida. I rented the VHS version of the IMAX movie just to get a visual idea of the different places he talks about in the book. Pretty unforgiving place!

"Into Thin Air" by Jon Krakauer? I just finished it. It's disturbing to say the least. And they call us skydivers crazy!!!!! Marz _________________________________________ Did I just kill another thread?
  19. Well, aside from being quite well know for my temper, truancy record the size of a phone book, and the best er... "spices" in the area, I was voted "most likely to become a homeless vagabond" in my gradution yearbook. I guess I made out allright I never considered myself very popular... I had too much attitude for that. Marz _________________________________________ Did I just kill another thread?

  22. I'm a CASI level 2 instructor (Cnd Assoc. of Snowboarding Instructors.) I recommend that you at least take a basic lesson- 1 hour is good but half a day would be better! Rent gear for your fisrt few times. Gear has gotten a little more complex in the last few years and there's ALOT of options, depending on the kind of riding you want to do (pipe, powder, all-mountain). The same applies with bindings. If you're planning on buying used gear, be careful! Boards go through alot of abuse, and you get get nasty surprises. I would reccommend you get the gear checked out by someone who's been riding for awhile. You can get new gear relatively cheap, but in this sport, you get what you pay for, SPECIALLY with boots. Don't skimp on boots. They're your link to the board and to the snow. I don't always carry my board when I travel, but I always carry my boots. Last thing, get a helmet. I've been snowboarding 15 yrs and i wear one. It's not my skill I'm worried about, but the other people on the hill! Other gear you might want to look into depending on you level of confidence - wrist guards and knee pads. Enjoy yourself! It's one of the greatest sports in the world!!!!
