Yeah... I'd consider moving to the States too, but I have a $18000 a year medical bill.... oh wait!!!! that's COVERED in Canada!!!!! it only costs me $800 a year to get all the treatment I need to stay out of a wheelchair and continue skydiving!!! I'll deal with the cold I think....

Call me old-school but i stick to traditional Burton strap-in midbacks with a pair of Ride boots. I have Ride Novas that I bought in 99 and they're still great boots, although a little hacked up from over-use. I'm not a label whore, but I've tried many bindings and always returned to Burton. I do like the new Salomon ones though. Marz

Yes. Yes it is! And it got to the point where it didn't make me very employable in my field of work. So I took it out and cut my hair. I am now stuck in an office from 7:30 to 4:00 everyday and I don't see much sunlight. I gave it all up for the security of a stable job and health benefits. Now I relate to the movie "office space" more than I care to.... Someone shoot me now!

I know my ear piercing never closed! I had a 0-gauge tunnel in there for about a year. When I took it out the hole shrank but I can still put in an earring.

So it's official. I'm going to visit my folks in Fort Lauderdale on December 27. We'll be there until January 10. I booked some tunnel time for the 5 and 6 with Dave Brown and I'd love to go to Sebastian to jump but I'm not sure I'll be able to get away for more than those two days... Damn I wish I didn't have family commitments!!!! I hate going to florida and not being able to jump... At leat I'll get some tunnel time. No, Canada does not have trrops in Iraq because in a smart move (for once!) the Prime Minister decided that he would not send troops unless there was a UN resolution. However to show a continued commitment to the war on terrorism, 2000 more troops were commited to Afghanistan. Of those troops, 4 were killed in a mine field that was supposdly cleared by american troops and three (?) were killed when two trigger-happy american fighter jets ignored abort orders and dropped a bomb on their heads. The two pilots were acquitted of any wrong-doing and the victim's families have not received any apologies from the US governement. Damn, I'm sure glad we're on the US's side!!!!!! More "go pills" anyone? Oh and the NATO supreme commander is a Canadian right now.

Yup... I'm working. Then again, I'm Canadian so this wasn't a holiday week...

I had this song in my head all morning and I decided to adjust the words to suit me.... Buttons on cell phones, And microwave ovens, Large plasma TVs, And a plane door that’s open, Small import sports cars, With big shiny rims, These are a few of my favorite things . . . Bright colored canopies, An' a brand new container, Manifest girl’s voice over the loudspeaker, Announcing gleefully to strap on my wings, These are a few of my favorite things . . . Hotties in white jumpsuits, With blue satin undies, That for extra altitude will show us their boobies, Crazy-ass swoopers, Nylon that sings, These are a few of my favorite things . . . When the dog bites, When the bee stings, When I'm feelin' sad, I simply remember my favorite things, And then I don't feel so bad . . .

For sure!!!! I'll hopefully hit better weather the next time and actually get to take more than one jump!!! And you will more than likely look at your child and wonder if you should sell your rig or not... I think it's a normal process.

Hey!!!! Congrats!!!!! Believe me, it's quite the experience!!!! Keep in mind you'll get all sorts of comments for the next few months about how your life will change and you're going to have to say goodbye to everything you do for fun and all that. DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!!! Kids are pretty portable. Alex became quite the dropzone baby this year and goes everywhere we go. Cheers! How does one guage or define self diagnosis to qualify being an alchoholic?
Marz replied to 12bhi's topic in The Bonfire
From the AA website: This is a self diagnosis there's no pass or fail grade Answer YES or NO to the following questions. 1 - Have you ever decided to stop drinking for a week or so, but only lasted for a couple of days? Most of us in A.A. made all kinds of promises to ourselves and to our families. We could not keep them. Then we came to A.A. A.A. said: "Just try not to drink today." (If you do not drink today, you cannot get drunk today.) 2 - Do you wish people would mind their own business about your drinking-- stop telling you what to do? In A.A. we do not tell anyone to do anything. We just talk about our own drinking, the trouble we got into, and how we stopped. We will be glad to help you, if you want us to. 3 - Have you ever switched from one kind of drink to another in the hope that this would keep you from getting drunk? We tried all kinds of ways. We made our drinks weak. Or just drank beer. Or we did not drink cocktails. Or only drank on weekends. You name it, we tried it. But if we drank anything with alcohol in it, we usually got drunk eventually. 4 - Have you had to have an eye-opener upon awakening during the past year? Do you need a drink to get started, or to stop shaking? This is a pretty sure sign that you are not drinking "socially." 5 - Do you envy people who can drink without getting into trouble? At one time or another, most of us have wondered why we were not like most people, who really can take it or leave it. 6 - Have you had problems connected with drinking during the past year? Be honest! Doctors say that if you have a problem with alcohol and keep on drinking, it will get worse -- never better. Eventually, you will die, or end up in an institution for the rest of your life. The only hope is to stop drinking. 7 - Has your drinking caused trouble at home? Before we came into A.A., most of us said that it was the people or problems at home that made us drink. We could not see that our drinking just made everything worse. It never solved problems anywhere or anytime. 8 - Do you ever try to get "extra" drinks at a party because you do not get enough? Most of us used to have a "few" before we started out if we thought it was going to be that kind of party. And if drinks were not served fast enough, we would go some place else to get more. 9 - Do you tell yourself you can stop drinking any time you want to, even though you keep getting drunk when you don't mean to? Many of us kidded ourselves into thinking that we drank because we wanted to. After we came into A.A., we found out that once we started to drink, we couldn't stop. 10 - Have you missed days of work or school because of drinking? Many of us admit now that we "called in sick" lots of times when the truth was that we were hung-over or on a drunk. 11 - Do you have "blackouts"? A "blackout" is when we have been drinking hours or days which we cannot remember. When we came to A.A., we found out that this is a pretty sure sign of alcoholic drinking. 12 - Have you ever felt that your life would be better if you did not drink? Many of us started to drink because drinking made life seem better, at least for a while. By the time we got into A.A., we felt trapped. We were drinking to live and living to drink. We were sick and tired of being sick and tired. -
What do you tell people that say Skydiving isnt a sport?
Marz replied to Conundrum's topic in The Bonfire
So what about canadian golfers? Not that I play whackfuck or anything.... That's a dangerous sport man! Those little balls flying and stuff... Those guys should wear helmets before someone gets hurt! -
Hmmmm.... I don't know who pierced that labret (sp?) but it looks awefully high to me!!!! I've been around the piercing community for a good long while now and those piercings should be under the lip. not clear through it!!!! I might want to shop around for a better piercer.... Just my 2 cents. _________________________________________ Did I just kill another thread?

Thanks alot! I want to continue skydiving as long as I can. I guess it's a matter of listening to your body. After much consultation, I chose Rebif over Avonex, just because the injection is easier and it's been around a little longer (I think?). I'll live through this, I'm sure. Marz

So I finally started my MS medication today. I went to the hospital and the nurse showed me how to inject myself. Honestly, I was shit scared but skydiving taught me one thing - When scared, take a deep breath and just jump. You'll have a little while to think about it before you have to do anything. So I counted to three, took a deep breath and poked myself. It went ok. Then the nurse tells me that I need to do this three times a week, preferably at night because of the side-effects. She said I would feel flu-like. Well, Now I know why I have to do this at night!!!! I went back to work at 11 AM this morning, and by noon, I felt like I had a fever. By 1PM, I was freezing my ass off and actually shivering. My boss called my wife to come pick me up. I went home and slept until right now. I'm banking on getting used to these meds and that they will make me feel better but I gotta say that today SUUUUUUUUCKED!!!!!!!!! I guess I'm posting this for those who followed the progession of this saga... This was one fuck of a year! Marz _________________________________________ Did I just kill another thread?

So the stolen car saga is over. The new WRX is in my garage. World Rally Blue, black interior. I got a anti-start device installed this time, and I'm gonna park it indoors! I'll post pics when I have them. Marz

Yeah, it's definetely a kick-ass movie, except for all the scientifs babble they through in there to appease the sponsors. Loved the Leonardo parachute bit! Those base jumpers are mostly from Quebec. They're mad and some of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. The production team is Canadian too. I'm not sure if they're planning on releasing it on video. I just don't think that video would quite do justice to that last BASE scene. I went to see it with other skydivers and all of us sorta instictevely started arching in our seats!!! Cheers Marz _________________________________________ Did I just kill another thread?

I would reccommend that you have your passport handy... The rules have gotten quite a bit tighter since 9/11. I know that a passport is now required to fly to the US for Canadian citizens. I don't know if it's the same for Americans. Where you going anyways? Cheers Marz
