Was having breakfast with my folks and my grandson and my mother was talking about my addiction. She said how years ago that when she went to the top of the Empire State Building how the height (1454) bothered her. When I explained that we stepped out of the plane at ten times that height and were looking at entering our landing pattern a limitless below that point she just shook her head and laughed. Just kind of put it in perspective. "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"

Im in my 50's and tall. Holding a good arch is not easy for me so my stability is not where it needs to be. I'll keep practicing and I'll get there! Like I said enjoy yourself it really is a blast. "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"

If you think your going to like it then you will probably love it! I just started and only have five jumps to date and even though I suck at freefall I still enjoy it more than I can explain. As to a tunnel, I am going to one weekend after next to try to improve my stability. My instructors said if you can get to one it's worth it, and they have kept me alive so far so I'm going. Beyond that the only thing I know for sure is do what you instructors tell you and have a blast. "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"

Thars just wrong in to many ways! But I do agree with the visual. But popping a reserve on 4 was not in my plans of perfection ! "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"

PPL your original post sounded like I was writing it from my jumps. I don't have any problem with stepping out of the plane (king air) and I seem to handle the canopy ok but my arch SUCKS. I'm looking into a wind tunnel about 8 hours away but I need it. J4 ended up with a white canopy over me due to rolling on my side as I pulled. Oh and J4 is not when you when you are supposed to go on your back but at least I know I can get back belly to earth on my own when I get to that stage!!!! Now I know where my support group meets! AFF4 and I find myself looking at the bottom of the clouds thinking I should be looking down on them. I was telling people when they asked how I was (Above the ground below the sky another good day). Now what do I tell them!!!! "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"

Don't get me wrong, its a blast! Just sensory overload when when I get unstable cause I try to force it and lose track of everything else. Had a twist on my second openning but that was not a problem to fix, thanks to the ground prep. The JM's turned me loose for 3 to 4 thousand foot of freefall on the third jump and said I was a lot better but still needed to work on getting my knees up more but I was able to maintain my heading. They seemed surprised when they asked about my approach and landing when I told them I couldn't hear the radio and did the approach and landing solo and was just following what they had instructed in the ground training. Seems I got it mostly right but flaring a little to early. Looking forward to 4 but a little nervous too! "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"

Well I made AFF 1-3. 1 was terrible , I am anything but a natural flyer. Made the pull though with a lot of patience from the JM's. 2 went better but having problems with my arch and knees ( low and apart). 3 I thought I blew it but the JM's said there was major improvement. Looking forward to next weekend and trying to improve! I would be suprised if I pass all the stages first time but thats not important.Great JM's and all the folks at the DZ are trying to help. Just a great time!!!! "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"

More likely just relaxed due the the folks I was jumping with being very good at explaining what we would be doing and being obviously thorough. I really think watching the guy filming and how was using small hand movements to keep his position to us was what was I found amazing! First tandem jump leads to serious addiction!

Welcome to my addiction! Made my tandem weekend before last and the canopy was not even close to being pulled and had already decided to start AFF. I go to class Friday night and have scheduled two jumps for Saturday!!!!! Problem I have I think it's amazing but the tandem never got my adrenaline pumping! Now let's see if I can say that when I leave the plane at 14,500 with no one hooked to me!!!!!! "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged" -
Didn't realize I had raised my voice...

I will be starting AFF on Friday! There's apparently not an indoor tunnel in my area so prepractice is out! I was wondering if there is any information on-line to study about control during freefall or would it be best to wait for the instructors! Just made a tandem jump at West Tennessee Skydiving last weekend and called tuesday morning and scheduled AFF for the weekend after next. The staff and the divers there were great and yea I'm hooked. Wish I had started this years ago! "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
