Alright, I'm just going to ask. Guys aren't you worried about your junk?
Pacific replied to promise5's topic in The Bonfire
My stuff is sensitive. It's really uncomfortable on an otter with a full load. That's harness related. Flying standing up has been painful at times. I just deal with it. I always wear a jock strap under my underwear which helps tremendously. -
Double? No way, not if you buy the 30-jump minimum! I was just at Elsinore this spring, paying $25 per jump. In Tokyo, it's $30 with the package. And gear rental is not bad either, $20 per jump. $10 for the pack, if you want it. I was paying about $7 + tip to the packers at Elsinore. When the exchange rate was drastically different a year ago, it made the USA look much cheaper, but it still wasn't double in Tokyo. I planned my trip to Elsinore when the dollar was at 76 yen. Then it rose to about 96 yen on me before I left. I paid 25% more than I had planned to, but it also makes Japan look more attractive to jump in. OP is only planning to make a couple jumps in a single day. Therefore, he'll likely not be getting the 30 jump package. From what I've gathered here, a single day of jumping in Japan is considerably more expensive than a single day of jumping at a busy American dropzone.

Agreed. I've heard lots of fellow bikers try to justify their obnoxiously loud exhausts. The bottom line is that these guys just don't care about others and are too concerned about their egos and the pathetic biker image. I'm not sure who they're trying to fool or impress. I can't ride with loud bikes...it ruins my ride. I wear ear plugs just to fight the wind noise.

Perris has more rental equipment than Elsinore. You will be renting gear for awhile. Perris has covered packing...Elinore has semi-covered packing next to a dirt runway. You'll be packing a parachute. Perris has clean restrooms...Elsinore doesn't.

Are you saying that the update process itself is slow or that your iphone 4 is now slower having iOS 7?
-
Looks way too fruity for me. I'll pass on the update.

Sorry to hear about the poor attendance. I've never heard of Couch Freaks...how was it marketed? I avoid boogies. Lack of parking, lack of accommodations, lack of packing areas, theft, fees, long calls, congested skies and landing areas, jumpers that are still drunk from the night before, and visiting jumpers who could care less about DZ policy and rules. I'll get more jumps in on weekday at my busy turbine DZ than at a crowded well planned boogie.

Too late. He already knocked her up. But since the baby is born, no reason to rush a marriage to save face. Have they talked about marriage? What it means? Sounds like he should grow up a little first.

Leave your dog and kids at home. Don't smoke, eat, drink in packing area. Pick up after yourself.

Alcohol is more dangerous. Both directly and indirectly. We tried banning that too.

Are you reporting an incident?

Good job getting A license before your move. Plenty of rental gear at Perris/Elsinore. Free coaching is offered at Elsinore at various times throughout the month. Check their website. Good luck.

It's bold and comical for sure. But how is this any worse than shallow, aimless, pretty woman who bait successful men and leach off of them? Don't woman dwell on "perfect man", which scientifically doesn't exist? Oh, and size 0-2 only means "very skinny" in the US.

Strange question. I guess it would depend on my mood. Some days I really want to check out. I would have to say no. Any kind of fatal skydiving accident hurts the sport, regardless of the foreseen or unforeseen circumstances.

Agreed...can't sleep in my apartment complex without them. And Logitech wireless headphones for when I'm awake. OP, file a complaint with your town police or town office. Surely you're not the only one to complain. Attend a town meeting or get one started to address the issue.

The helmet looks fine. I'm sure it will serve you well for several hundred jumps, so the price is a non-issue if you like it and it fits well. The color is subjective, but I also like white. Nothing wrong with open face helmets, it's my preference too. You should post more info later: quiet? Comfy with audibles? Chinstrap comfort? I'd ignore Goonies Kid. He's been in the sport for 5 minutes and his posts are garbage...earning him the Troll badge. His avatar couldn't be more fitting..."Mouth" from Goonies.

No it doesn't. It looks like an Icon that has too much bulk in the ears, which can cause the riser covers to not want to stay closed. Maybe this is a leaked picture of the new Icon that is suppose to come out this summer

Why? Wouldn't you do a thorough gear check and inquiry beforehand? Should Mexicans not rent gear on American dropzones because they're on a foreign DZ. I just returned from Japan where I did a few freefly jumps with their rental gear. Well maintained gear that was made in the US. They were more safety conscience than my popular home DZ.
-
Have you even contacted the DZ there yet? Maybe they can put your mind at ease. Must you do your first jump, or any jump, in Thailand? What kind of assurance are you hoping to get from us? Either way, there is risk involved. Welcome to skydiving. If you're still unsure, jump at a different DZ.

I pack for myself...and TIP myself a steak dinner and pitcher of beer on the way home from the dz. Works out great for everybody! Same here, except for the drinking & driving part. I made 12 jumps Sunday and packed for myself. That was very gratifying day. That's also $72 I saved or roughly 3 more jumps. I'm not sure why the OP isn't packing, but I feel as if he/she is over tipping and wasting money on something he/she should be doing themselves. He/she would be SOL at my DZ cause the teams have the packers booked. Nothing wrong with over tipping, but consider using that money towards a private 1 on 1 packing class so you can learn to pack well and fast.

I've had bad experiences buying from my DZ's gearshop...especially when I was a newbie. They tried to get me to buy their favorite containers and their favorite options, colors, etc. Today I realize that a lot of local gear shops prey on newbies. Do your research outside of your local gear shop first, this way you can validate what the shop is pitching you. Then buy what you want...it's your money, your happiness. If you feel uneasy about buying from your local dealer, then don't. I've had nothing but good experiences with Paragear and Chuting Star, and I saved money too.

I didn't choose my current canopy or its size based on wingloading. I bought my current canopy based on my demo experiences. I demoed several canopies which varied in size(+- 30 sq ft.). I ended up picking the middle size while not exceeding the manufacturer's maximum exit weight. The bonus was that it still fit nicely into my container. The wing loading ended up being 1.6

Isn't Chicago the current murder capital of the USA? Glad to see the Chicago PD still has the resources to hunt for theses 3 guys.
