Another forum I frequent has a "News & Announcements" forum, with a thread titled "Banned Users". Only mods can post to it, but anyone can read it. Each banning gets listed there with the "who" and "why" stated, and whether it is temporary or permanent. Quite handy for reference.

I'd love to see the contingency plans for an invasion launched by Canada. ;-)

WHY the hell was this not a unanimous decision??? SCOTUS' Moore v. Harper decision kills a fringe conservative legal theory that could have upended national elections It is bad enough that we have the Electoral College over-riding the will of the people in some elections, but apparently we have 3 clowns on the court who think the state legislatures should also be able to do so.

I have a friend who was in the Air Force back in the early 90's, stationed in Europe, doing IT support for the intel guys. He said he was glad when there were actual operations under way, because all the idiotic busy-work done purely for show, would get shit-canned in favor of focusing on the real operations at hand.

On the upside, this gives Hunter the street cred he needs to run as a GOP candidate!

A couple years I watched many hours of lectures by Yale Law Professor Akhil Reed Amar, and read 2 of his books. An interesting point he made about Lincoln was that although he was an open abolitionist, there simply wasn't enough support in Congress to abolish slavery. So Lincoln's election was really not a viable threat to it. But immediately upon Lincoln's election, the Southern states began seceding, and started a war with the North. The war gave Lincoln war powers, which enabled him to issue the Emancipation Proclamation, for the purpose of weakening the South. So by freaking out about Lincoln doing something he did not have the power to do, they gave him the power to do it.

They probably don't listen to "The Sex Pistols", either.

Youtuber Justin King commented some time back about seeing a pickup truck with an anti-Disney bumper sticker, and a "Punisher" logo in the rear window. ("The Punisher" is a Marvel Comics character, and Marvel is owned by...Disney).

Heather Cox Richardson talked about this several days ago. She takes the origination of the problem all the way back to the post-Civil War era: https://heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/june-13-2023

And they would not have invited him to appear at the courthouse; They would have kicked in the door at Mar-a-Lago at 0500, and taken him into custody immediately.

Let me guess: You were speaking Portuguese? Did you give them a shock by replying in English with an American accent?

The whole idea of pardoning ones self is lunacy. If POTUS can pardon himself, that means he is literally a king. Commit a coup? No problem, just pardon himself, and he is absolved of the crime, AND he can be POTUS/king for life. Best solution is to abolish the power of pardons entirely. The fact a corrupt POTUS can dangle pardons as a reward for helping him commit crime, FAR outweighs any good it can do.

Of course, inability to find an attorney would play right into Trump's favorite legal tactic: delaying proceedings.
