He was the late great Richard "Dick" Enarson. Instructor, rigger, pilot, & had his own DZ (Paladin) at the Oakland Airport when there were no fences.
If u knew Perry Stevens, u knew my dad.
I've seen many "Mae Wests". For u youngsters thats when the main & reserve chute are open then twist about & u crash to the ground I grew up at the dropzones & seeing the mangled bodies was pretty gruesome. Some lived some died. Thats why I have one jump...... at age 16 I went for it, had a minor malfunction & the weather decided I shouldn't try again. My how the sport has progressed!
if u know the old ritual "up in the air junior birdmen" then maybe u know/remember some of the greats!
my dad was one of the unique pioneers that helped shape the sport of jumping & the first edition of the Parachute Magazine. I spoken to many jumpers & they don't have a clue.........if u do, I'd like to know to keep history alive.
hi all. wondering if there are any old groundbreakers out there that remember Stevens Paraloft or Paladin Paraloft. And how about the water jumps into Santa Cruz at the boardwalk?
