Not being reported? I see stuff in the news all the time about the dangers of pharmaceuticals, and how some of them have possibly been a factor in school shootings and other homicides and violent crimes. That being said, no doubt the drug alcohol is involved in homicides and violent crimes far more often than any other drug (prescription or non). And of course, there's no way to know how many crimes may be being prevented because mentally ill people are taking medication. Anyhow, I think it's a valid concern to question what effects these drugs may be having (both positive and negative) regarding the tendency toward violence.

Hmm, it's amazing that they haven't purged the, umm.... National Rifle Association's account. I see all kinds of pro-gun, anti-Obama, whatever posts in my faceback feed, and to my knowledge no one has been censored because of it. Of course, those are mostly personal accounts; perhaps they monitor the other pages more. But I'd be really surprised if their account got deactivated over that one particular Gandhi quote. The story is a good way to get a lot of traffic to their website and facebook page though.

Norway is an odd example to use. Didn't they have one of the worst mass shootings ever?

Right now it's Boggle. I should never have downloaded that stupid game onto my phone. Somebody help me.

School Obama's Daughters Attend Has 11 Armed Guards
Shotgun replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
How delightfully hypocritical of a liberal. Well, I don't know if he's being a hypocrite or not. Has he commented on the idea of having armed security guards at schools? I'm curious what his response is to the NRA press conference, but I haven't seen anything. Just wanted to correct myself on one thing. I happened to catch the beginning of this interview again and realized that it was actually recorded before the Newtown shootings, then postponed and played the day after Christmas. Which doesn't change what the President said about his daughters being protected by guns, but it takes away my own surprise at the seemingly inappropriate comment (which I thought was) so soon after the shootings. -

On Nightline last night, Barbara Walters was interviewing the Obamas, and while discussing how one of their daughters is getting to the dating age... I'm paraphrasing here, but the President said that one of the benefits of winning re-election was getting to continue Secret Service so that there would be men with guns around at all times (to protect the girls). Walters quickly interrupted him and changed the subject. Probably wasn't something he had intended to say, and he seemed to be half-joking, but I thought it was an interesting remark. -
So many schools can't even afford to keep enough teachers. I wonder how they're supposed to afford well-trained armed security?

I'll never look into your eyes again. Merry Christmas to you too. Don't forget about self-fulfilling prophecies.

Who is going to report it? 1. Federal law prohibits the mental health professional from reporting it. 2. Mentally ill people see themselves as OK. It's the other people who are bad and they are making the individual feel bad. Actually, there are many mentally ill people who realize they are mentally ill and choose to seek treatment for themselves. It's already a difficult decision to make for oneself; mandatory reporting of all mental health problems would probably greatly reduce the number of people who choose to seek help.

I'm so sickened by all the blame that's being thrown around by so many (blame the gun owners, blame the atheists, etc., etc.), that by now the Westboro picketers just seem to be a mild extension of the general hate that's being thrown around in the name of these events.

According to this article, "Unlike some states, Florida law gives prosecutors the option of allowing charges to be decided by a grand jury except in cases involving a possible death penalty." (Only required in cases that may involve a death penalty, which dosen't apply here.) http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/04/09/us-usa-florida-shooting-idUSBRE8380JS20120409 And I'm still curious where you heard that Obama was the one to get Corey appointed? Not saying it isn't true, but I haven't heard anything about it (and can't find anything about it), and this case is messy enough without have unsubstantiated rumors being thrown around.

Well, there was this black leather skirt (on him, not on me), and a lot of loud noise.... Let's just say the headache he gave me last night made me think he might be practicing to take down the whole world next week.
-
I didn't think a grand jury was required for filing second-degree murder charges, but maybe that depends on the state? I'm certainly no expert in law though, so I don't know???
-
What did she do that violated his constitutional rights?
-
After last night, I'm thinking that Kanye West will have something to do with it.
-
I was following this case pretty closely, and I never heard anything about Obama getting Angela Corey put on the case. Do you remember where you heard this?

Wait, now Martin shot and killed an unarmed kid too? While he himself was unarmed? This is getting so confusing.
-
Just curious... If a kid is misbehaving and won't stop his behavior when you tell him to stop, why would he do push-ups or stand in the corner when you tell him to? I never said they wouldn't listen. You made that up. I used punishment to shape behaviors so we would never get to the point that they ignored me. Sorry, I didn't intend to make something up. What sort of things were you punishing them for? I was just curious how that type of punishment works (without the threat of having an alternative punishment if they don't do the push-ups or stand in the corner), and I guess I was thinking of myself as a child who wouldn't always do what I was told. And of course, spanking only made me have less respect for authority.

We already have one of those! You're in it right now! Unless I missed a forum rule about not having any fun in here.

Because I wasn't taking the poll seriously.

"Morning DJ's" is a rather broad group of people to hate. Anyhow, while I don't find their prank funny, I don't think these DJ's can be blamed for the nurse's choice to commit suicide. (Assuming she did commit suicide, which doesn't appear to have been established yet.)

This stuff looks pretty cool. Thanks.

Yikes, it sounds like a hassle to try to ship any food stuff to Oz. Think I'll forget that idea. Thanks for the link.
