So, what do you think was their motivation to investigate the place if they didn't think that there was a possible child abuse situation?
-
Yeah, that sort of bugs me too. But I guess it's the law that bugs me more than the media's harping on about it. If it wasn't illegal (or considered socially unacceptable) then the media would probably not have much to say about that aspect of the story.
-
I'm reading some more too, and actually it doesn't seem to be clear whether they took all of the children or just all of the girls. Something I had read earlier led me to believe that it was just the girls, but now I'm not sure.
-
It doesn't sound like they took all of the children, just all of the female children. And it sounds like they have evidence that pretty much all female children at that compound are being or will be sexually abused.
-
That's too funny. I was reading that article earlier, and Remi was the first person who came to mind. (Actually, it was because of something he said before.)
-
No, it just means that you score more.
-
But the question is, was it just like the real experience? Well, I'll probably find out one of these days. (The death part, but hopefully not the getting shot part. Though I guess that wouldn't be such a bad way to go, if it's quick.)

It looks like the only posts that show as 100% are the posts that the user made to begin a thread.

They did start an investigation, and based on what they found in the investigation they decided to remove the children from what appeared to be an abusive situation (based on a good amount of evidence). Would you prefer that they leave the children in an abusive situation until the girl who called is found or until a lengthy trial has taken place to prove the abuse? That is not the way that CPS works. In most cases where abuse is fairly evident, the children are removed from their homes immediately. This case is no different.

Sure you can. I've dreamed of dying before, to the point of actually being dead (not from skydiving, but from being shot).
-
Have you thought about becoming foster parents?
-
No, but it justified an investigation. And apparently other evidence found during the investigation justified taking the children into custody. I see nothing wrong with polygamy, if it involves only consenting adults. These grown men don't have the right to be having sex with underage girls, no matter what their religious beliefs are.

I would imagine it's very difficult emotionally for someone to give up her/his baby for adoption, so perhaps it's easier for some people to give them up as quickly as possible? Particularly if she is mentally unstable (or something like that), she might realize that it's safer for the baby to get to a safe place as soon as possible. And there are probably lots of other reasons . . . I don't know. It's hard to imagine having to do that.

I keep seeing this sign at the local fire station and wondering what it is for, and I finally remembered to look it up. Turns out it's a safe haven where people can legally give up their babies. (http://www.rvcfire.org/opencms/BabySafeHaven/) Am I the only one who has never heard of this? The sign doesn't say anything, just has a picture of a baby. So I'm sort of wondering if anyone who would want to use that service would even know about it.

Congratulations. I remember how happy I was when my divorce was finally over. My ex-husband and I even went out for drinks together to celebrate after we left the courtroom. And then I went around singing The Who's "I'm Free" for a few weeks after that.

I would only consider it a premonition if you strongly sensed it was going to happen after you dreamed it, and then it happened. Well, unless you strongly sense that all (or a lot) of your dreams are really going to happen, and then one does happen (but most of them don't); I'd still chalk that up as coincidence. When I dreamed that I had a cutaway, I didn't go to the dz the next day thinking that I was really going to have a cutaway in the near future, so I wouldn't call my dream a premonition.

Well, I'm certainly no vodka connoisseur. I probably prefer Smirnoff because it seems to have NO taste to it, which makes it go well in a Sloe Comfortable Screw, because it doesn't interfere with the other flavors. (That's about the only vodka drink that I like.)
-
I don't think Celis is made in TX anymore.(???)
-
When I used to drink vodka more often, I preferred Smirnoff over Absolut (or any other brand). I always thought Absolut had a funny taste to it. And I'll agree with that. I've never actually tasted it, but it's beer, so there's a 99% chance that it tastes nasty.

Maybe that's why Molson is still an unknown beer here in America. If the Molson ads were a big deal to Americans, then it probably wouldn't be an "unknown" beer here, because we would all know about it from the media attention it would receive. Much in the same way that I've now heard about Absolut vodka more in the past week than I ever have before.

Depends on what you mean by "high." I think of that term as applying to all intoxicating drugs, including alcohol. But I know what your point was, so I'll shut up now.
-
Yeah, I was blown away by the last 3D movie I saw. Can't remember what it was called, but it was something about the deep sea at an IMAX theater. The effects were so cool, I was reaching out trying to grab things, just like all the little kids in the audience.

I dreamed about my first cutaway the night before it happened. And it happened pretty much exactly the way I dreamed about it. And that's the only time I've ever dreamed about having a cutaway (that I can recall). So I thought that was fairly weird, but I tend to think of it more as a coincidence than a premonition.
-
I keep hearing about this, but I just can't seem to get offended by it. In fact, it's sort of making me want some Absolut, even though I don't usually drink vodka.

I don't know, but a friend of mine spent a year in prison for possession of meth, and I'm pretty sure she didn't have any other charges against her. She was originally put on probation after being caught with a small amount of meth, and about two years into it she had a couple of "dirty" UA's because she had started using again, so she was sent to prison. And that has been bothering me, because it doesn't seem right for her to go to prison just for being a drug addict, when she wasn't doing anything to hurt anyone else. And it's not like she's suddenly over her addiction after spending a year in prison, so it seems to be a pretty poor use of the system.
