I think that I believe a lot of the same things that you believe. I'm just not a Christian and I don't believe in God, so we have a different language for describing the things we believe. I can read what you write about Jesus and translate most of it into something that makes sense to me, but I don't accept God or Jesus being the son of God as literal truth.

I don't necessarily see "boozing and sexing and gambling" as "sin," but I do agree that those actions have earthly consequences. And in excess, they can disturb a search for peace and content, if that is what one is looking for.

You know, I should probably try it again sometime. I've only tried it once, and that was..... sheesh, about 14 years ago, and there are a lot of foods I like now that I didn't like then.

Do you think life is truly easier for good-looking people?
Shotgun replied to Muenkel's topic in The Bonfire
It could have meant that she was dedicated to medicine, or it could have just meant that it was easier for her to get through med school by sleeping with her instructors. -

No. And I don't think there is any way to measure whether life is easier for one person than it is for another. -
Pretty much any kind of cheese on a whole grain cracker... Except for brie or bleu cheese; those are just nasty. Oh, and no Richard Cheese. He's a funny man, but I don't want him on my cracker.

Strangest thing I've eaten? Hmm . . . This one time, when I ate some mushrooms . . . Oh, nevermind.

Well, there couldn't be a more perfect ending than that!

What to do when she tells you she has a boyfriend
Shotgun replied to LongWayToFall's topic in The Bonfire
I don't know about that. I've found that some people are real assholes once I get to know them. But it doesn't make me feel any better to act like an asshole back at them, so I try to continue treating them the way I wish to be treated. (And then I try to keep them out of my life as much as possible.) -

I thought that one of the comments underneath that video summed it up best: -

"Serial monogamy" means a series of exclusive relationships over a person's lifetime, but it does not imply that there is no time in between those relationships. So the term is not specific to the type of relationship being described here (where someone won't end one relationship until they have found someone else). I think that most people in Western cultures practice serial monogamy; it's pretty much the norm. -

No one ever stares at my boobs. -
My guess is that rynodigsmusic would take his child to the doctor if the child was sick, rather than relying on only prayer, and that is how his beliefs are different from that family's beliefs.(???)

Actually, man needs air to breathe more than anything. And after that, water and food, and a few other things. Without those basic needs, love won't do anyone much good. (Sorry, just being a smart-ass. )

Perhaps you should stop staring at their boobs when you're holding the door for them, and then they'll quit giving you dirty looks. I always smile and say thanks when someone opens/holds the door for me. -
I prefer to live by the rules of Monty Python: Always look on the bright side of life . . .

No. I don't see how reducing the number of unwanted children in the world would cause a reduction in the value of human life. If anything, I think the opposite would be true. (Though I think I would personally choose adoption over artificial insemination, but anyone who is willing to go through either process probably really wants to have children.) And in today's world, preaching against birth control seems pretty irresponsible to me.

I think that everyone is living life by trial and error, no matter which books we choose to read or which paths we choose to follow. We can learn lessons from other people, but I don't think that the trial and error part of life is optional.

OK, I have to ask.... How many children do you have that you can't feed them and yourself for $36.40 at McDonalds??? I don't think I've ever spent more than $5 to feed myself there.

The Tetley tea that I buy comes in round teabags with no string. But I wouldn't care if it had a string because I take the bag out after it's brewed for five minutes. (Isn't that what you're supposed to do? )

I believe the gold speedo is one of the Japanese symbols of fertility.

No, silly. Garden gnomes are responsible for DISorder. Or so it seems... since I am constantly having to clean up the mess that they make in my yard. Then they just sit there and pretend to be little statues, as if they don't run around causing havoc when I am not looking.

I used to make a similar recipe, but I called it Dump Cake. And instead of two cans of cherry, I used one cherry and one pineapple. It's a great easy dessert for taking to potlucks, and it always seems to be a hit.

Things do have a tendency to move from order to disorder. Take your home for instance. It probably has a tendency to move toward disorder, but does it look like a huge garbage pile right now? If not, what happens to keep it from moving only in the direction of disorder? When water turns to ice, it is moving in a direction from disorder to more order. What is causing it to go against the natural tendency to move in the other direction?

Damn, you beat me to it. I've never even met him, but I recognized Skydive San Marcos, and based on her clue, I thought it was probably him.
