  1. 1) High Performance Canopy Control Coaching 2) Velocity High Performance Canopy 3) Jump tixs to put the coaching and canopy to work. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  2. Yes this is true, the original post was the invite list, not the list of attendees. CJ Hartwigsen should be here as he dropped by the DZ to get some practice in last weekend (he's from NM even though he competed in Southern Cal this summer). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  3. Wow 45 amateur competitors (plus the Pros who come to do their own thing). This is by far the biggest swoop meet I've ever competed in. It should be fun. It's 3 rounds of Distance, Speed and Zone Accuracy right? I must get off of DZ.COM now and get to the DZ to get some practice in. I've got 44 other people to work on beating. 4. Natalie Portman looking all grown up. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  5. Cool ... I look forward to seeing the finished product. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  6. Jimmy ... I hope to meet you one day and sit down and drink a beer or two with you. I enjoy your work and you made me happy one day when you saw some of my work and complimented it as well. I think with careful mentoring Clair could be fine and turn into a bad ass skychick. If Clair was to be trained in Idaho, then my canopy control concerns for her aren't huge. She'll likely even get better canopy control coaching there with you privately that with some AFF guy. But without this opportunity, I don't think hucking oneself off of a bandit fixed object (at night?) with 1 parachute ride under her belt such a smart thing to do both for her and for the sport. I've always thought that good canopy control was key in BASE. Was I mistaken here? Take her to the bridge, train her there (if she's on the level with her parental units). But she needs to learn how to fly her canopy before she does other stuff. You know this ... you know more about BASE than I do ... and I know this. Oh I sure hope Clair grows up to skydive as well as BASE. I see too many new BASE jumpers trivialize the benefits of skydiving. Sure BASE and skydiving are not the same, but being current with one's skydiving can never be a bad thing for one's BASE. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  7. In the Speed carving course, we need to stay under the gates (not just the entry gates, all gates) for the entire course, but we're allowed to pop up for both Distance and Zone Accuracy courses. I've popped up on my rears in a similar manner to what Jay did here and have often gotten a little extra distance because of it. But something tells me that Jay Moledski is just a little better and more experienced than I am, so I haven't gone nearly as far as he did. It will be interesting to see what the pros can do here in Colorado in just three short weeks from now. Will we have a new distance record or is his 522 footer safe ... for now. 8. Of course you know me and how much I enjoy swooping. But swooping is something that takes time, patience, coaching and hundreds and hundreds (maybe even thousands) of jumps just to get it let alone how many thousands it will take to master. So it's okay for you to get into it, but you need to approach swooping slowly. So why not try a wingsuit jump instead? I still like freeflying better, but wingsuit jumps can be a shit load of fun and it might be enough to renew your interest in the sport. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  9. I don't know much about this Chavez guy so I will reserve comments on him. But Pat Robertson is a nut case and hopefully comments like this ("feminism encourages women to kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians" ) will expose him as such. 10. Balls And Superior Egos ... Hmmm I need a BASE jump, it's been a while now. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. Did anyone get back to you on this? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  12. True ... but the Palestinian people have existed for a long long time. Christians, Jews and Muslims all lay claim to this holy land. Is there any wonder why these RELIGIOUS groups are threatening world peace? I say they're all pretty fucked up. But what do I know? I'm agnostic and obviously certain people hate me for this. Then again these people aren't showing very much tolerance to those who are different from themselves. The world would be a much better place if we stopped judging people for their differences and accepted them for who they are. But that will never happen as it's human nature to judge and dislike those who are different from yourself. The latest PM I received helped back up this claim. 13. BULLSHIT!!!!!!... give one example of this. I said something which wasn't 100% true people after I did a quick search from some of the posts concerning Muslims which GM has said in the past. But you should see the abusive PM he just sent me. It's kind of amusing that someone would take SC so seriously. This is the internet after all. What was that saying about arguing on the net and the Special Olympics. Lighten up dude, you'll live longer (in reference to stress). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. So am I to understand that there are no Jewish extremists in your mind? How do you explain this? Remember I said there were extremists on both sides of this conflict. I'm not taking sides with either side. You on the other hand believe that the only bad people in this world are Muslims. I think it's time to wake up and take notice that there are fucked up people everywhere you look. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. I hope you realize that there are extremists on both sides of this conflict. Israel is not innocent here and some of us view what Sharron is doing here as a good step towards possible peace. The Palestinians have every right to live in this region as do the Israelis. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  16. I'm planning on being there and this will be my last boogie south of the border before I need to make my way back up to Canada. But I'm not sure how many skydives I will make as I'm sure I will be hucking myself off of some cliffs while I'm there as well. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  17. I like to think that the soul is the insecurity religious people have with their own mortality. For some reason these people seem to think that they will live (in their soul) for eternity when it's not even known if the universe will continue to expand or if at some point it will contract upon itself. 18. Missy (Melissa) was a serious sweetheart in that interview. Plus I enjoyed listening to her recommendations about training as I have my own swooping goals which obviously require training similar to what she addressed. I'm pretty much a nobody in this sport, but I hope to meet her one day. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  19. The bible is the word of man, not God. If I told you that God spoke to me last night to tell me that I needed to write a book about some rules which all humans must follow otherwise they will rot in hell, what would you think of me? You'd think I was nuts. But for some reason many people in our modern world (obviously insecure with their mortality) are clinging to this book as the truth when it's nothing more than a book written (before science I might add) to control the masses. Oh most of the Ten Commandments are good moral rules to follow in life (there's no disputing this). I just don't believe in underlying roots of Christianity that if I don't accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior, that I will be rotting in hell. But what's an agnostic to do in today's world. PS: I know a bunch of bible thumpers are now lining up to flog me, but I won't be around for their abuse today as I'm off to do a little skydiving while the weather is good. I'd much rather jump than debate this crap. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  20. Well the "B Team" hasn't been all that active as a group in the last few months what with members of the group off in Hawaii, Washington State, Idaho and Colorado. But I've put together a "B Team" tribute video which can be found here. This video has actually been sort of ready for the last five months now except that I was missing a critical 3 second clip which I was only recently able to obtain. Also, when I originally starting this project, it was supposed to be just "B Team" members in the video. But since I lack the required video footage to do this, it turned into a "B Team and Friends" video. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it. Steve ... 22. 0:0:0 I didn't jump this weekend. We got weathered out on Saturday and I poisoned myself with Te-Kill-Ya Saturday night and spent most of the day today suffering. I will never drink Te-Kill-Ya again ... until the next time of course. Not sure how many people will be out on Monday (I'm guessing only Cessna numbers), but I'll likely head out to the DZ tomorrow to see about doing a jump or two. 23. My comments about the animals were that they were smarter than we give them credit for. My cat knows how to communicate with me when she wants something. So why are we humans so special? We're not as far as I'm concerned. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. 1000 feet pull ... after you Alfonse, I insist. See you in hell Johnny. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  25. I used to do it all the time on hop n' pops. But my newish Velo (canopy) flies very fast now and it irritates my eyes to jump without some form of eye protection. I've also made a freefly jump without googles because I forgot them (just don't look into relative wind) and the worst google-less experience I've had was making a wingsuit jump without them. The dude I was jumping with forgot his googles and is basically blind without his contacts so I volunteered to let him use my googles instead. Big mistake, that wingsuit jump sucked.
