Year : 1980-81 1. Who was your best friend? Ian, Doug, Tim, Steve, John, Don, Chris, Shelley and Kim 2. What sports did you play? Co-captain of the varsity football team and Captian/MVP of the Rugby team (I was kind of a wild stoner jock type of guy) 3. What kind of car did you drive? I couldn't afford a car 4. It's Friday night, where were you? At the park and/or a house party 5. Were you a party animal? Absolutely 6. Were you in the "In Crowd"? Yes and No 7. Ever skip school? Hell Yah ... but I was smart with when and where I skipped. 8. Ever smoke? Cigarettes no ... wacky tabacky ... 9. Were you a nerd? Nope. I was a stoner jock 10. Did you get suspended/expelled? Nope 11. Can you sing the Alma Mater? school song? Hail to the Eagles ... 12. Who was your favorite teacher? Chuck Porrier - gym teacher, football, rugby coach and a friend. 13. Favorite class? Lunch at the Blue doors smoking wacky tabacky (then Math always seemed to follow lunch my last three years of school ... why they did that to us I'll never know). 14. What was your schools full name? Lindsay Place High School, Pointe Claire, Quebec, Canada 15. School mascot? An Eagle 16. Did you go to Prom? Sort of ... I had a date (a girl from another school), but we didn't stay long 17. If you could go back and do it over, would you? Yes I would and I would not have smoked so much wacky tabacky 18. What do you remember most about graduation? That I actually graduated and didn't drop out. 19. Favorite memories of your Senior Year? I was the only kid in school living on their own my senior year. My step-father was a nazi (I kid you not). He grew up on the other side of WWII and tried to raise me as a good German kid even though I was Canadian/North American all the way. I was no angel, but I was also not a bad kid. So instead of living under the step-nazi's roof and his strick rules my senior year (with 9 pm curfrews), I lived with a friend who graduated a year ahead of me with a small amount of financial support from my natural father, my grad father and I hate to say it I had a little side business that the cops wouldn't have approved of (nothing big just enough to make sure I wasn't paying for my bad habit and had some extra pocket change). I could have easily dropped out of school that year but I didn't. I passed every class I had and had a good relationship with my teachers and principle who knew of my situation. So I was allowed to skip class whenever I wanted since I always had to see the principle when I did miss class to explain why I wasn't there. But it was only in the last few weeks that I did any real skipping. As I said, I passed all of my classes. Not bad for someone who could have easily dropped out because I was living on my own and didn't have parental units to make sure I did my home work and/or skip class. 20. Were you ever posted up on the senior wall? What's a senior wall? 21. Did you have a job your senior year? Nope (except for that little side business) 22. Who did you date? A girl (Sonya Desmarais) not from my school who I met at a party. 23. Where did you go most often for lunch? The Blue Doors ... 24. Have you gained weight since then? A little, not that much. 25. What did you do after graduation? Worked one year as a welder/laborer, another year unemployed and then I went back to school to be trained as a software developer. Most of us mortals should be looking at this day as a marathon and not a sprint. Pacing oneself will be the key. Having lot's of food and water available between packing, jumping and hiking. Sure someone might be able to save a little time by landing closer to the climbout. But are they really going to save that much time? The most I've ever climbed out was 4 maybe 5 times and I think the most jumps I've made there in one day was 7 or 8 (the time Oscar and I first met you and Sammer). So my goal if I was to do this IronBASE day would be 7 maybe 10 jumps (if I'm in shape) and who knows if I could even do that many? But pacing oneself and staying hydrated is the key. Cutting corners isn't going to save you that much time (at least for us mortal jumpers). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Aghhh make it stop. Make it stop. The Bay City Rollers? I thought that (bad) memory would be gone forever. My sister used to love that band. - I remember the first moon walk (I was a young'un) - I remember the '72 Summit on Ice (Canada/Russia hockey series). - I remember the '72 Munich Olympics (including the hostage crisis). - I attended numerous events at the '76 Montreal Olympics. - I remember being too young to see "The GodFather" in the theaters. - I remember being too young to see "The Exorcist" in the theaters. - Happy Days - Welcome Back Kotter - The early Mash episodes - Kojack - The Streets of San Francisco - Kung Foo and so many more ... My birth certificate says I'm 42 years young. But I swear (at least mentally) I'm getting younger by the day (or I just refuse to grow up). Oh and my back is feeling much better right now that it was 24 hours ago. I just came back from a walk and it's not too bad. I just may be able to play hockey tomorrow night. -

That canopy could barely get airborne. And when it did this so called world's best canopy pilot could only fly it in deep brakes extremely close to it's stall point for a second or two at a time before he touched down. They either need to be choosing better steeper slopes (with favorable wind conditions) to be launching from or they need to be choosing a better canopy. Don't get we wrong, it was a fun video to watch. But compared to what Jim and Duane have been doing, not very impressive from a launching point of view. If the idea behind this video was to get people like us to buy their canopy, well they've got a long way to go. My money (if I had any to spend which I currently don't) would go towards a GLX and not this Gin canopy. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I thought it was a fun video to watch up until the very end when he flew his canopy into that tree. Careful there dude ... not only can you get hurt doing this, but your canopy will get shredded in those trees. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I'm still in some pain this morning. But I did what you suggested. I slept on my side with a pillow between the legs. It wasn't the best of nights, but it wasn't the horrible "I can't sleep because I'm in pain" night. So we'll see how the days goes. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I'm 99.999% certain this is a muscle problem and not a spinal injury. Never said I was experiencing numbness. Thanks for the replies people. I am in pain, but it's gotten a little better in the last hour or so now that the Ibuprophen has started to kick in. Plus I've never been one to be big on drugs (at least the drugs taken to control pain). I have a high pain threshold and only started this thread (relunctantly) because I was looking for ideas. But it's likely not as serious as I either initially made some of you think it is or as serious as some of you think it is. There is pain, but remember that I did finish the game and was able to play at full speed (albeit ignoring the pain). Time will tell as to how this back pain is tomorrow and more importantly on Tuesday morning (my go no go decision day for the next playoff game). Of course I want to play knowing that I'm a valuable experienced resource to the team. But I won't be good for anyone (including myself) if I can't play at full speed and rush back and miss more games. So time will tell. I am in pain, but it's not like I can't move. Mentally? Hell no I'm getting younger. Physically? Well that's a different story. I'm 7 years older than the next oldest guy on my team (one of my 1/2 brothers) and probably about 15 years older than the league average. But yes I fell pretty old right now. I'll be fine if someone would only shoot me ... or better yet give me some morphine. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Normally I sleep on my stomach. But not tonight. I'm guessing my side is my best choice and I will put a pillow between the legs. Oh and I did eat a small meal so I currently don't have an empty stomach with my over the counter drugs. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Yes I need to do some more stretching (maybe not tonight but tomorrow for sure), but I think I might have started all this pain by stretching my back too early before my body was properly warmed up. While I was waiting for the Zambonie to finish cleaning the ice I was doing a few stretches on my back. I knew not to stetch my leg muscles before I skated around a bit, but for some reason I went ahead and stretched the back, the rink was cold and it's pretty damp here where I live. So I do think I did this to myself. Also, yes you're right that I shouldn't rush back into things before I'm properly healed. But it's playoff time and we crazy/stupid hockey players have been know to play with pain. We'll see how I feel tomorrow and of course Tuesday will be the go no-go decision day. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I've managed to get through much of my life without major back pain, but I hurt my lower back this afternoon on the 2nd shift of a playoff hockey game (of course we dumb hockey players just play through pain as I didn't miss a shift). I believe it's only a muscle problem and not anything wrong with my spine (I wasn't hit or anything like that on the shift where I hurt myself). At times I'm in a lot of pain (it's a dull pain and it's also radiated down to ... I hate to say it ... my boys) and at times the pain isn't that bad (usually this is after I've stood up for a bit of relief). I suspect tonight is going to be a long mainly sleepless night as I beginning hating life (being hurt sucks). I'm hoping that I'll be able to sleep, plus I'm also hoping that this pain is a short term thing as game two of our playoff series is Tuesday night. But time will tell. I was able to play through the pain during the game, but I'm not so sure if I'd be all that mobile now that the injury has had a few hours to develop. I took some Aleve once I got home, but I remember someone telling me last year not to over do taking over the counter drugs such as Aleve as they can be very hard on the liver (or was that the Kidneys? I can't remember). So now I'm back from the store with some Ibuprophen. So what's your favorite over the counter drugs for muscle back pain? Being hurt sucks!!! But what's done is done. Aghhh somebody shoot me. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Iran is a tough issue nowadays. If they get their nukes and decided to use to those nukes towards pleasing Allah, then yes we are in deep shit. But the only way that anyone can prevent Iran from obtaining these nukes was if the entire world was on the same page as to how to deal with them (which they don't seem to be). The US will be making a huge mistake to open up a new war anytime soon only because they don't like the idea of Iran having the bomb. On a different note, I'm not all that concerned about North Korea. I believe China has enough at stake towards their economic growth to not let North Korea run wild. Iran is a wild card though with no easy answers. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
