    Not sure - I think it's due to the way the lens is constructed only one piece of glass, etc). The way to focus it is to let it autofocus (on the ground), and then set it to manual focus once it's focussed (not infiinity). I use it on a PC100, but I think this is the case with all cameras.

    In my opinion, there aren't any really good options for dvd authoring out there. I tried dvdit, but had some problems (plus I couldn't set chapter points). It does have a nice GUI, but is not very powerful. I ended up using dvdjunior by authorware, which was a bit flakey, but worked.

    In the process of setting up a SLR, and am wondering if most folks use some type of filter on their lens (polarizing, etc)?

    I have the .3 diamond lens max is selling. I really like it - especially the low profile. The focussing is a bit trickier (you can't use infinity)

    I do a freefly video every year. This year I put it on DVD. I used a Pioneer A03 burner in my PC (DVD-R format, not DVD+R). I sold a bunch of copies, any only two people had compitability issues with their dvd players (the '+' format is less compatible). The quality is way better than vhs. To put your video on dvd, I had to first compress to mpeg2, then author the dvd (startup/selection page, chapter points, etc), and finallly burn the dvd. A little more painfull than creating vhs, but the quality and convenience is awesome. Dan

    I will be adding a 35mm (actually a Canon D60) to my hawkeye lt. I've seen the stroboframe quick release, but I'm wondering if there are other mounting options (i.e. thumb screw directly from inside the helmet, lower profile quick release, etc). I'm looking for as low a profile as possible. I don't want to permantly mount the camera, but I don't need to be able to take it off in 3 seconds either. Any other considerations (mount forward or back, etc)? Mostly, I will be freeflying. Also - what to people do with their bite switches when they aren't shooting stills? I'm assuming I will leave the bite switch wire in place, but look for a way to tape it down. Any feedback on the canopus bite switch? Thanks! - Dan
