QuoteYeah.........she picked me up from the hotel..........took me out to the DZ..........took me to dinner...........and then a skydiver party. Quote I'm kind of disappointed that everyone showed up later...I got home and there was only 5 or 6 people there including Kelly. I went down to my room at the other end of the downstairs from the pool table, locked my door, and went to sleep. I wish I would've stayed out there and partied with everyone but it looked like the party was a bust. I guess everyone decided to wait until I went to sleep to show up!!!

I would have to say that my all time favorite is Platoon. Also Gladiator and The Godfather.

I just saw this last night and found it to be a very powerful movie. I felt that it was showing just how human Jesus was and that his suffering should not be taken for granted. Not just the physical pain, but the emotional pain as he, in a sense, asked if there was any other way that it could all be done without him being sacrificed. I came out from the movie wanting to learn more that I have ever wanted to. Now to the non-religious side to it, the actual quality of the film....I was amazed at how well this movie was made. Yes, it was very graphic, but the point was made well. The emotion in the eyes of all of the actors was haunting. Maia Morgenstern as Mary affected me the most. You could almost feel her pain as if it were happening right at that moment in front of you. I think that even a non-believer would enjoy this movie if they were to watch it without looking for a reason to hate it.

I just received these in an email and hadn't seen them before. Sure enough when I checked to make sure I didn't repost, they were already here.... I think it's funny so I'm gonna bump it back to the front!

Here's another auction...probably more interesting to me 'cause I work for them! http://bobolito.homeip.net:8002/ebay/eBay.htm

Looking at it more I have to agree with all of you. I saw the story last night on the local news www.komotv.com/stories/29607.htm and the story sounded convincing. It almost made it sound like phone cards aren't an option! But hearing from someone who is actually over there is better than a second hand news story... Thanks for the input guys!

I know that between Elsinore and HH running this for everyone there is always someone who needs and very much appreciates any money you can spare. One of my closest lifelong friends is in the 81st and I am doing everything I can to make sure he is able to talk to his 4 year old daughter when he is over there. I know how wonderful and generous the DZ.com family is and I just thought I would throw this out there for anyone who can spare the cost of part of a jump ticket... And even if you can't afford anything, please say a prayer or send vibes to my friend and his family that will be waiting for him to come home! http://www.platoonphone.org/ Here's one of the stories about it. http://www.komotv.com/stories/29607.htm

I do, however, like that idea.....

If PETA wants to protest fur, that's fine, but IMHO this is completely crossing the line. Arguing against your abortion comparison, I don't believe that I have ever heard of pro-lifers marketing directly at small children. If I were to hear about a pro-life protest aimed at scaring little kids I would disagree with that as well.

Another opinion column by Ken Schram http://www.komotv.com/stories/28882.htm Have to agree with him on this one...

Wow Kat! Next time my roommate Kelly (does a lot of video at Snohomish) has a party at our house I hope to see you there! Rumor has it, he's planning another shindig fairly soon....

Funny thing is, I'm making my lunch in one right now...didn't realize that I could use it to wake me up after my nap as well!

What was your favorite 80's TV show?
littledebbie000 replied to NoShitThereIWas's topic in The Bonfire
It would have to be Silver Spoons. I begged my parents to build a train in our house for years.... -

I saw the same stories on a couple of different news channels. What I am wondering now is why she would re-enlist this last year (as reported on kiro 7) if she was so sick that she could not reply to the call to duty that she signed up for? We are all paying her paycheck as well as her medical expenses so she can choose not to do her job??? If I were to tell my boss that I want a paycheck and benefits to sit at home and take care of my kids and not do my job I would be fired per company policy. So the contract she signed when she re-enlisted (again, this last year) states that if she does not do her job she will go to prison. I would rather go to Iraq and cook for the hungry men and women fighting per the nearly identical contract that they signed then spend time in the brig....regardless of whether we should be there or not, that's just me thinking as a tax paying American. I don't like to spend my money on someone who can't deal with her responsibilities....if you didn't want to take the risk, you shouldn't have taken the money, I hear McDonalds is hiring with benefits too.....

ACME, I'm totally feeling you on this one. My friend Ed is National guard and is reporting to Ft. Lewis in the next couple of weeks...he has a daughter of his own...should he be able to stay home? {edited because I made a jackass comment...}

Hmmm. Yet he has no problem whatsoever in demending that a mother leave her children to go off and fight a war. I'm not saying she doesn't have a legal obligation to do so, but it seems a bit disingenuous for him to be standing on the soap box. I understand your point completely. I firmly believe that she needs to fulfill her obligations that she made when she enlisted (and obviously re-enlisted) but at the same time I hat to agree with him. He is very known for preaching to the masses without having much knowledge about what he is preaching about (other than his sometimes made up facts...) It's usually good for a laugh a couple days a week when he has a new "story"

Sweet, I got the best one! It's called "Tampon String" 1 oz Vodka 1 oz Cherry liqueur Top with Whipped cream Cherry (Ontop) Mixing instructions: Layer the vodka and cherry liquer then put whip cream on top and a cherry on that when taking the shot engulf the whole thing and after you swallow pull the stem of the cherry out.

I actually have a little more info on that from personal experience....I went to elementary school with his daughter. He's always been a reporter as far back as I can remember. I believe that he's even been questioned about that by readers before and he replied that he had not been in the military ever. I don't actually know for sure, but I'm pretty sure that he's always been 100% civilian.

As much as I hate to say it....I really do have to go with Mr. Schram on this one. If she was that concerned that she would have to leave a child behind she should have either: 1- Not had a child or 2- Not re-enlisted sometime over the 15 years that she's been in the National Guard Also, I can understand that it's still dangerous no matter what you are doing, but she's a cook for crying out loud...it's not like she's going to be participating in much urban warfare in the mess hall!

Here's some of his stories in case you need a good laugh. http://www.komotv.com/kenschram/

Ken Schram is known up here in Seattle for his "non biased" journalism... One of those guys that really makes his opinion known to everyone

http://www.komotv.com/stories/28422.htm My only question is why she bothered staying in the reserves if she knew this may happen eventually?
