  1. Vacation "at" the DZ is an option. Zhills has trailers for rent. Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
  2. Does the suit make the pilot or does the pilot makes the suit? https://instagram.com/p/3yKYaksxLQ/ Travis Mickle has been flying one for a little over a year now. A couple of weeks ago he did a backfly XRW dock where the canopy pilot surfed his chest. I had flown some with Travis before he had the suit and after he got it, I have just observed how he has progressed in it. The fact that he has continued to fly it when he could be flying about any Tonysuit that he wanted, should tell you something about what he thinks of the suit. 3. A typical definition would be, a horizontal corkscrew around the line of the direction of travel. Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
  4. Perhaps we can, but having S turns in their bag of tricks in case they really need it would be nice. Agreed. I am seeing a reluctance to teach deep brake approaches now too. I'm not sure what would satisfy everyone. Good planning and good execution can go to pot in a hurry and it not even be your fault. I want every trick that I can carry in that “bag”, just in case. 5. The only "one" I have done, I put my foot on the tire, got on front of the strut, leaving room for the others. My exit was not great but with some practice I think it would be better. Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
  6. Put another way......The probability is, you will be fine. (better than 50/50) Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
  7. I feel like that if I need to ask someone else, then I have not done my homework. Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
  8. I put off night jumps because I considered them to be increased risk and all that I really want to do is to keep healthy and keep jumping. However, after I passed 500 jumps I thought, "Sure, why not". My first night jump was a solo and with no one else in the patterned near me, I landed right at the edge of the pea pit with the only issue being a slight misjudgment of the depth to the ground. Still a easy stand up landing. But on the second jump another jumper appeared to be on a long base leg when I was on my downwind. I could see his strobe on his left hip but I was not sure he could see mine on my left hip. In giving the jumper a lot of room, I positioned myself so that getting back to where they had the car lights on the landing area was impossible. I had tried to plan for such an event and had a belly pack with a fair headlamp in it. I had put the headlamp on right after deployment and now it was a good thing that I had it. Clouds had covered the moon and the headlight allowed me to be able to flare but with poor timing. While the night jump was enjoyable, the landing risks do seem to make it a bad idea in some cases. I do have a bigger headlamp now, for the next time. Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
  9. In conjunction with the Skydive Dallas Revolution Boogie we will try to set a new Texas Wingsuit formation record. Details here: https://www.facebook.com/events/844939188925518/ Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
  10. Some that don't want to jump, pack. He could still be part of the DZ life and not jump. Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
  11. TK, I can't answer all of your questions but I can post some information and a video as reference. Not professional in any way. I have the $100 version of Sony Vegas HD Platinum 11.0 running on a 4 year old HP "home" type desktop, right off the Walmart shelf with an upgraded ram total of 10gig. My typical project settings Vegas settings are shown attached. Video example is length is 3:45. File size is 190 meg. Render time was 9:15. You can see the video here, if you want to look at the visual quality. It has clips from various GoPros with various settings. I think all were 1080 with either 30 or 60 FPS Right click and Save Target As to download and save locally for review. http://pyrodan.privatedata.com/skydive/wingsuit/BurningThroughTheSky.mp4 Some performance tips that might be useful. https://youtu.be/_Rn2kXjlv84 [inline sony1.jpg] Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
  12. My first jump was an AFF jump. I was a little sick under canopy. Second jump, throwing up a lot under canopy. Prescription patch for motion sickness, third jump, Static Line, didn't get sick. More AFF jumps, didn't get sick. Went to half a patch, didn't get sick. Three years later, I only feel bad when we do "go rounds" on jump run. I avoid spinning, flipping, and other things that would add to motion sickness. But YES it gets better. A person has to want to jump really bad to deal with motion sickness as it is an instant turn off. Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
  13. I have one, just in case somehow I get knocked out. Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
  14. brand wars. Never underestimate brandwars. Online coaching is also a thing. Both activities make wingsuiting pretty close to swooping You need a megasuit to swoop well. Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
  15. i wish i could do enough flocks to get bored with it.
  16. My closing loop was a bit short. I made it tiny bit longer. I was much easier to close and MUCH easier to move the pin with just a little finger pressure. I tightened it back up, got one of those metal power tools and learned to close it easily with the short closing loop. Struggle on the ground closing the container is better than premature deployment. Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
  17. On the first question (skydiving point of view), I did some serious solo tracking with with Flysight feedback in an RW suit. Then I borrowed a tracking suit for a few jumps before my first wingsuit flight. I am sure the tracking suit did exactly what it was designed to do. However, I am happy I didn't go out and buy one. Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
  18. I contacted Airtec with the question regarding a possible future variable that would allow some other options in the activation speed. Airtec has acknowledged my question and said they would get me an answer. Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
  19. Several of us went to Florida for Flock n Dock early this month. We made a big deal about going to Florida for some real fun. I don't really think that action triggered all of this but the timing lines up pretty well. It had me wondering. Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
  20. Airtec has fixed it so that the activation altitude can be changed. They could change the speed so that it could be adjusted too, if they wanted to. I wonder if anyone has approached them with this question. I have been concerned about this very thing as well. Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
  21. We reached exit altitude. It is less fun jumping from a broken aircraft. Actually I was on a plane with a problem and we didn't make full altitude. Jumping out of a problem aircraft was a disappointment. Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
  22. Because everyone needs goals. Before I ever visited a DZ I knew what I wanted out of skydiving. You got to have a plan. Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
  23. In my 50s, I would be tired doing 3, and then 4 when I was a student. By the time I had 100 jumps, 7 a day, with me packing, was okay but a long day. Even still I do about 3 different types of jump days. 1. My "off" days are at a C-182 DZ, spending half a day and doing 2 or 3 fun jumps. 2. My normal day is drive 4 hours to a turbo DZ and try to knock out 6 WS jumps, and then drive 4 hours home. That is a hard but manageable day. 7 WS jumps and I pay for it on the way home. 3. Trips of 5 or more days at a turbo DZ. Still 6 or 7 WS jumps is a very full day. But about day 3, I have my second wind and there are huge benefits to jumping all day, several days in a row. Subtle things that you might not normally notice seem to suddenly be noticed. The last time that I checked, more than 1/3 of my total jumps were done on these larger trips. Ramp up slowing. Going from 2 a day to 7 a day will most likely wipe you out. Save some energy for the drive home. Be safe on the road after a tiring day at the DZ. Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
  24. and I'm still new :) Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
  25. I have flown the same Pilot since I was a student. After it was re-lined, I had to really shorten up the brakes to be happy with it. Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
