4 pointsYou're not busting anyone's balls. The evidence you use to support your ideas, like You-Tube videos are largely ignored because they purport garbage theories. When you gather facts from conspiracy, MAGA sources instead of real facts. Those who believe in science, economics, history and the opinions of a real majority. Will see little of relevance, of seriousness in such positions. I'm surprised that Billvon gives serious replies to your positions. I'm not as impatient as John to block your posts. But like a drunk in a restaurant who insists upon yelling obnoxious unrelated statements at those around you. Tuning out the source is the majority option.

3 pointsToo much chemical "joy" last night perhaps? Of course they could be wrong. But so far they have not been. Remember how Trump said tariffs would not increase inflation? Inflation is up. Remember how Trump said he'd drop grocery prices on day one? They are up. Remember how Trump said he'd end the Ukraine war in 24 hours? It's gotten worse. Remember how he said he wouldn't start any wars? He bombed Iraq. Remember how he said he'd release the Epstein list? He's hanging on to it because he's on it. What you are feeling now is cognitive dissonance; that the man you have placed all your sense of being on is being shown to be a liar. That's why you're crying and lashing out.

2 pointsI swear Trump watched the Dictator movie and thought it was a documentary. The Oval Office looks like Saddam Hussein decorated it. I’m just waiting for a golden crown to replace the red hat - it’s slowly happening as he’s switched to white. Next will be white with gold writing

2 pointsHi Wendy, Re: Let’s see what good indexing and AI do with it in the future IMO it will only get worse. And, I am an optimist. Jerry Baumchen PS) A few days ago, I was reading a couple of on-line articles about Kohberger. All were 99 44/100% bogus. Everyone seems to want their face in a YouTube video or their name on an article. They seem to clamor for it. A sad commentary on human-kind.

1 pointApparently my civilian side was overriding. I learned something and I stand corrected. You did. It occurred to me that an instructor I used to work with was a military rigger in the 80's and 90's, so I asked him about it. The military documents, double documents, and over-documents everything they do. Not only do they keep log books in their lofts of everything they do, including main pack jobs, as I surmised the other day, but indeed military mains do have packing cards.

1 pointThis s great example for why I avoid discussing Hahneman.. You have an opinion and are now searching for confirmation using assumptions.. No, he did not get the denominations mixed up,, they gave him the wrong denominations but he said he really returned to delay the flight to ensure a night jump. and the FBI was messing with him,, that didn't happen to Cooper,, circumstances were different, there are also some false reports in the news.. Tina said about Cooper.. he was not nervous he was rather nice other than he wanted certain things to be done he never tried to harm myself and although he was impatient a few times he was never cruel or nasty or impolite.. Rogers,, (Hahneman's stew) said Behaviour sounds very similar...

1 pointMaybe we ought to raise the Presidents salary to a flat 10 billion per term, all invested in G7 treasuries, in exchange for their entire estate at inauguration.

1 pointI went to Sci-Hub to get the full article and read it in German. The ICD did get his heart shocked back to normal rhythm after a VF episode in freefall .... but I guess it was going to take some time to get back to useful consciousness .... so he still had to rely on his Cypres! Sounds like these new ICD's are more suitable to using in some sports, as I guess they are shocking the heart remotely from beneath the skin, and don't require actual fine wires & electrodes implanted on or into the heart muscle, as earlier ones did. The wires were more at risk of breaking or dislocation if the person was involved in physical contact sports.

1 pointThen I will merely believe in the efficacy of the scientific method. I hope you can find a way to approve.

1 pointBasically, there is not sufficient information available to make a meaningful detailed calculation of this. So what follows here is the analytical equivalent of "hammer and tong engineering". During the FBI test flights, it is reported that one of the USAF parachutists did in fact walk to the bottom of the stairs. As he walked down the stairs he would also be moving toward the rear of the aircraft. This movement would cause a slight NOSE UP moment for the aircraft. The amount of this increase in moment depends on his distance from the center of gravity of the aircraft. As the aft stairs move downward, the aerodynamic force on the stairs can be resolved into two components. The component parallel to the fuselage reference line is the increase in drag. This force will be quite small compared to the overall drag of the aircraft which is probably already well in excess of 10,000 pounds. This drag force component will probably be below the center of gravity of the aircraft and will cause a slight NOSE DOWN moment for the aircraft. The vertical component of the aerodynamic force on the stairs will be up and will also cause a slight NOSE DOWN moment for the aircraft. Even with someone standing on the bottom of the stairs, where the wind chill factor is about 30 to 40 degrees below zero, the effect on the overall performance of a 727 is going to be slight and may not even be noticeable if the aircraft is on autopilot or being hand flown in even mild turbulence. We need to address a remark made by Rataczak that when Cooper jumped and the aft stairs slammed close it caused enough of a disturbance that his headset almost came off. It should be noted that the flight crew had been told by the FAA Chief Psychologist that Cooper would probably blow up the aircraft when he jumped. With this cheering news, when the stairs slammed into the fuselage and created a pressure disturbance in the cockpit as well as a lot of noise, I suggest that all four people in that cockpit did a lot of jumping thinking that the bomb had gone off.

1 pointReserves and bailout rigs are considered emergency parachutes and require a licensed rigger and card.. Mains do not require a card,,, can be packed by owner.. However, it is not clear that mains don't ever get a card... if packed by a licensed rigger.. I just don't know the answer to this.. Do mains never get a card or is it optional??
-
1 pointTrump doesn't cheat at golf. He loses interest after 8-9 strokes and his dementia results in a score of one under par on his scorecard. Trump deserves a holiday after working so hard to bring down inflation and grocery prices.
-
1 pointYes. I don't think we can determine what he knew. If he knows gear and knows those are bailout rigs, he might be checking the cards to determine what kind and size of canopies are inside. If he doesn't know gear, he might just be checking them over and come across the cards.
-
1 pointMy experience is civilian, but there is a lot of crossover, a lot of military jumpers also sport jump and I have known many of them over the years. When I learned in '79, many of my instructors were from the military. Military courses can be exceedingly detailed, a lot of their First Jump Courses in that day lasted a week (before the first jump), and the students would definitely know 'mains' and 'reserves', and probably the make and model of the gear they were jumping, and maybe the serial numbers of their particular rig. Yeah, that last part was kind of an exaggerated joke, but the point is valid. I don't think experienced jumpers from either genre would commonly use 'front and back' over 'main and reserve' amongst each other. They might use 'front mount reserve' to differentiate from piggyback gear when those were coming out. And bailout rigs might be front, chest, seat, or back to differentiate between the types of those, none of which are mains. Bailout rigs do not have secondary reserves. Bailout rigs are reserves for the original intent of landing with the plane. I could go into more detail, but who gives a fuck, none of it sticks anyways. I don't think a conclusion can be made what Cooper's experience was based on the terminology he used. I think it's possible he was using generic terms based on who he was talking to, rather than where he came from. He was describing what he wanted to people who wouldn't know much about them. Indeed, if Cooper was an experienced sport jumper, he may have used generic terms in order to hide that fact, so as not to narrow down the suspect pool. Getting bailout rigs would not necessarily be a deal-killing death sentence. Those things are designed to save lives, and they do. Andrade's research into WW2 bailouts confirms this. And some of them are steerable. ----------------- I don't make posts with the intent of backing up some people or slamming others. I just try to clarify parachuting logistics based on decades of experience, as current as yesterday. Some time ago I wrote a post about camaraderie based on shared interest. The way some of you can bitch and snipe at each other, I'm starting to think that we owe Blevins an apology.

1 pointI’m just enjoying the request for help. I will say that, as a rule, someone’s perceived pain doesn’t determine the success of much of anything, since hurting is generally destructive. Like that old metaphor of saying you’ve grown because you’ve chopped off everyone else’s feet. Wendy P.

1 pointNicholas, Georger, and Ollemiss are absolutely correct. "Fronts and Backs" is NOT military jargon. I have never heard that term uttered by a paratrooper or military free fall parachutist. And backpack, seatpack, and quick attach rigs, where only the harness is worn, were always described by a single word - parachutes. This thread, like a number of others on this site, is a waste of time.
-
1 pointHe can’t. It’s nonsense. Just like Minnesota Nice LOL. Military jargon my ass! It’s obvious he’s made some confirmation bias lead connection to Hahneman when he starts going pointlessly too deep on some of these things.
-
1 pointThat seems like a big assumption given how generic that verbiage is. Any idiot who saw a photo of a skydiver in freefall in 1971 might also just call them "fronts" and "backs." If Cooper used terminology like "main" or "reserve" then maybe that could imply a heightened understanding of parachuting equipment, but "front" and "back" are such generic terms. I'm not even arguing with you about it being military jargon. Maybe it was. But those terms are too generic to ascribe exclusivity to them. It's like ascribing exclusivity to someone who uses the words "up" and "down".

1 pointRespectfully, I believe you're unnecessarily overthinking this bailout vs. main thing and his reaction/non-reaction to what they gave him. I don't think we need to even go that far into it to find the biggest clue that Cooper provides us regarding the chutes. The most obvious clue to his experience with parachutes can be found at the very beginning: his demand. By simply demanding "two fronts and two backs", this tells us most of what we need to know about him, which is that he was almost certainly NOT a recreational skydiver of any sort. I've used the analogy before on my show, but if we substitute a getaway car for parachutes, Cooper essentially just said "give me a car" when he instead could have easily said "I want a Ford Mustang Shelby" or "I want a Camaro". Some just asking for a "getaway car" would indicate that this individual is not a gearhead in the same way that asking for generic parachutes indicates that Cooper was not a recreational skydiver. Cooper's lack of specificity with his demand is so highly, highly informative. Every skydiver on this site and every skydiver that I've spoken to at CC's or on Facebook groups have been unanimous in stating that they would NEVER just ask for "parachutes" in such a generic way if they were pulling off a heist like this. First off, most skydivers we've heard from on this issue have agreed that they would bring their own chute if they could, and if they couldn't, they would be very specific with their demand. Our two recreational skydiving copycats illustrate this perfectly. Heady brought his own chute, and McCoy both brought his own chutes AND was also highly specific with the parachutes he demanded be brought to him (four Commander parachutes from Perry Stevens' Loft in Oakland) You stated that H demanded "fronts and backs". Mac requested "six parachutes". LaPoint said "two parachutes". Fisher simply demanded "a parachute." None of those men were sport parachutists. Cooper making a similarly generic demand for parachutes throws him firmly in that camp. So I don't feel it's really necessary to try and figure out whether Cooper knew the difference in a main vs. a bailout because he's essentially already telegraphed to us what his level of intelligence was toward parachuting equipment from the very start: he lacked the knowledge to be specific, which strongly implies that he wouldn't have known the difference in a main and a bailout rig. If he had any real knowledge of parachuting gear he would have used specifics with his demand.

1 pointFor that type of gear, separated mains and reserves, no the mains would not have a card. Sport gear today, they all do have cards because the mains and reserves are part of the same rig, the cards are pertinent to the reserves. I don't think it can be known whether he knew the difference or not, because we don't know his experience, how much he knew. He did seem to know something about them, he said he didn't need the instructions and appeared to know how to put it on. That would lean towards him knowing. Why didn't he ask for more? Hadn't he already complained about time, wanted to 'get the show on the road'? So does he want to wait an hour or two (?) while they looked for more? Or just make do with what he's got. Since he can't be planning on landing in a specific field, I don't think so. I'd rather not, but as opposed to spending significant time in prison or being killed in a raid, I probably would.

1 pointShe is now. She worked illegally when she first got here; she was an illegal immigrant. By the letter of the law, if you make a false statement on your application for citzenship, it is invalid. One of the questions that gets asked on every form you fill out is "have you broken US immigration law?" She lied on that, and thus her citizenship is invalid. Of course she is now above the law and so nothing will happen to her. This would be the classic "argument from incredulity" - i.e. I have no idea what's going on so it must all be BS. A favorite of flat Earthers, anti-vaxxers and Trump supporters for years.
-

-
1 pointSo you think illegal immigrants should be allowed to become US citizens instead of being deported for breaking the law?
-
1 pointOk. Well… She is now. Billvon said “How fitting that it will be named after an illegal immigrant.” So we’ve established that that’s just more of his B.S.
-
1 pointHouse GOP moves to rename Kennedy Center Opera House after Melania Trump Melania, an illegal immigrant when she met Trump according to Trump's current ICE policy. Who met Trump through Jeffrey Epstein on the aircraft and first hooked up with Trump on the "Lolita Express". Stealing the honourable Kennedy name is such an appropriate use of the "family values" parties time. "The Boeing had padded floors and a large bed installed so that his guests could have sex with the girls he had lured aboard mid-flight....“When you get inside the aircraft, it’s a playground. Everything lays out to be a bed. That was kind of creepy,” According to Epstein's victims. Perhaps the republican party can buy the aircraft and put it in the Trump library as a homage to the first "lady".
-
1 pointA pilot bailout rig is not a main... You are caught in semantics.. a reserve is an emergency chute.. A back bailout rig is an emergency reserve. Asking for a "front and back" is old school military jargon for main and reserve.. Cooper did not get a main.

1 pointI see Rubio as the personification of people's willingness to debase themselves to Trump for the sake of power. Perhaps I missed the memo, but at one time I thought he had a decent amount of integrity, even if I disagreed with many of his policy ideas. However he has completely capitulated to the MAGA world, to the point of taking a leading role in condemning millions of people to death from AIDS, malaria, starvation, etc to enhance his own power. I suppose it's the same with every would-be dictator, they are only powerful because there are so many people willing to jump on the train to benefit themselves, even at the expense of any shred of integrity or decency. Sometimes I regret that I don't believe in hell, because I can't even enjoy the delusion that they will get their "just desserts" in the afterlife.
-
1 pointWould be fun to see his reaction if Trump had been shanked after his arrest. After all, convicts get shanked.
-
1 pointDuring the Ghislaine Maxwell trials it was revealed that several of Maxwell's sex slaves came from Mar-A-Lago. So closing that down would be a huge win in the fight against child traffickers, eh? Oh, and remember Ted Suhl? He ran The Lord's Ranch, a camp in Arkansas. It was a cover for a child sex ring, with “innumerable incidents of fondling of genitals and oral rape. The . . . men and women who owned, operated, and staffed the facility preyed on and abused the children housed on the remote facility in Warm Springs, AR. routinely and systematically.” Then those mean cops arrested him for running that. But don't worry. Trump pardoned ol' Ted. Birds of a feather and all that. Trump made that deal with the Taliban because the Taliban promised Trump they'd use the equipment to fight terrorism. The Art of the Deal! As always, sorry about the facts.
