Witelli 0 #1 July 3, 2005 Hi, I just completed my AFP Level 1 jump. I was very nervous as usual until I maintained stability in freefall, which went very well. Canopy opened very smoothly and I felt pretty good maintaining my heading and stability in freefall. However, I was a little off in my holding area and it seemed that I wasn't moving to where I wanted to be. Luckily our DZ is huge, I came in slightly crosswind for a somewhat hard PLF landing. No injuries so I'm fine with the landing, except for the fact that they had to come get me in their truck since I was so far away. I just want to understand the mechanics of the canopy as it applies to wind direction/speed/toggle input/forward and downward movement. I will be discussing this with my instructor prior to next jump, I just wanted to get a head start. Any recommendations or reference material you can suggest would be great. Thanks. chutem 0 #3 July 3, 2005 Check in safety and training for a thread called the accuracy trick. At the end of the thread is a post by slotperfect with an attachment that explains a lot of what your looking for. Wish my comp. skills were better I'd make a clicky for you. It is a "current" thread. As always check with your instructor or atleast someone with way more jumps than me. James
tdog 0 #4 July 4, 2005 Quoteexcept for the fact that they had to come get me in their truck since I was so far away. That is not such a bad thing... It is better to land safe than land near. As one of my friends says, "Your problems are nothing 10,000 jumps won't fix." In all seriousness, work with your instructors/coaches and mentors... Canopy will become fun, and I know I am still learning a lot on every jump, and know I will be learning a lot for a long time...
