In all seriousness, how does one access the videos of Charlie being cruel and rude or expressing hate or whatever? FWIW, I disagree with rather a few of his conclusions, but haven't stumbled across any that support the fascist, Nazi or other allegations that have been made. Admittedly, I haven't watched a lot of his stuff, but made it far enough through a few videos including him to guess that his schtick was consistent. Whenever I ask for evidence that there is a Mr. Hyde to the Dr. Jekyll, all I get is hand waving. If someone can provide a link, it's appreciated.

The left are the ones assassinating their opponents like modern Bolsheviks. I'm not even going to count the cheerleading and happy claps for these incidents. Even worse the left routinely eats their own and excommunicates people. I'd be worried just because you can never be too left. What Shibboleth will you violate and end up a target? I will acknowledge some of them, on both the right and left, fall probably more on the mentally ill side and are a case of "choose the form of your destructor" where the mentally ill person uses whatever the TV screens say as the justification. Turning Point USA(TPUSA) is an American nonprofit organization that advocates for conservative politics on high school, college, and university campuses. It was founded in 2012 by Charlie Kirk "TPUSA is also beginning to get involved in far-right filmmaking. I agree with the sentiment expressed by everyone that snarky comments and labelling people is unhelpful. Biguns point about black and white thinking (psychology term, not race) is bad. The problem with your posts is that Trump/Musk can do anything and you shrug it off as “just …” and go onto to rationalise it is for the greater good, while making sure to mention that it’s better than Biden etc. I’m not sure how any American can support people who do nazi salutes, car sales from the Whitehouse, deliberate lies and deception, celebrate the pain of immigrants and the disadvantaged. the thread about white power in the US has many examples of where this administration has stepped well past the line of racist behaviour. If you honestly believe sexism and racism is bad, how come you’re not as vocal about this administration covering/removing the names of non white and female people who lost their lives fighting for your country? I forget the agency (NSA or CIA). A vast number of American citizens speak Spanish, yet it’s not racially driven that this administration has declared English the official language and removed Spanish language versions of important government websites? I’m sorry but your posts show no evidence that you’re against racism and sexism.

The election will almost certainly happen if not with absolute certainty. In the history of the republic since George Washington was elected, US presidential elections have never been canceled, and I genuinely don't see how 2028 would be any different. One of the worse case scenarios I could see is that the election becomes "less democratic" and more "controlled", which could signal that the US is indeed on the path to a dictatorship, but it would most likely be a slow process. That being said, I believe things will get a lot worse before they get better with all the Trump & Musk & DOGE stuff. Resistance against the Trump Administration has started everywhere - people are speaking up and protesting, states are filing lawsuits, judges are blocking Trump's orders, and there are internal conflicts among Republicans on various issues. It's really easy but also deeply understandable to have a "doom and gloom" attitude. Heck, I was reading some news about the "Nazi Salute" at CPAC the other day, and I even hypothetically thought about what I would do personally if I were living in Nazi Germany 2.0. In the meantime, I have been learning about human emotions recently, and emotions pretty much always come before logic. People tend to react emotionally first and use logic later, and this is especially true on social media. The thing I've been taught - and am trying to do - is to use both emotion and logic to form a more balanced perspective, which is why I want to choose intentional optimism. Current American democractic institutions are being tested, but it's not hopeless.

Well, I don't think Elon should be involved in politics at all and am completely opposed to anything that even closely resembles a nazi salute. I am of an age where my parents served during Korea and had great Uncles that served during WWII. Anything Nazi or Commmunist goes against the grain.

In Utah, the pushback against LGBT people intensifies. HB77 is now being voted on (and will likely pass.) It is a bill that is intended to ban Pride flags in classrooms - and is now being expanded to ban them in all government buildings. The relevant language is: "Any employee of a government entity within a classroom of a school within the public education system, may not: (a)display a flag in or on the grounds of government property . . . (3)The prohibition described in Subsection (2) does not apply to the following flags: (i)a historic version of a flag described in Subsections (3)(a) through (h) that is temporarily displayed for educational purposes." (3a-h describes all flags except Pride and similar civil-rights flags.) Also, any staff member who takes down Pride flags is protected - "the attorney general shall defend and the state shall indemnify and hold harmless a person acting under color of state law to enforce this section for any claims or damages." Thus Confederate flags and Nazi flags are legal to display. Pride flags are not. Indeed, the sponsor of the bill confirmed this very point when asked about it: “There are instances where in classrooms, you have curriculum that is needed to use flags such as World War II, Civil War. You may have a Nazi flag. You may have a Confederate flag, and so you are allowed to display those flags … as part of the curriculum, and that is okay.”
