As everyone else has said, talk to Brian. They have a good selection of rental gear for a small dz. They have varying hours from day to day. Best place to check is their facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Skydive-Ogden/113387715370015 Also hit up the iFly tunnel in Ogden while you are there. They have some great freefly coaches.

Newbie n SoCal - upfront pay or piecemeal

I agree with SkyMama. I got my license at Perris this summer. There are a lot of instructors there. Some I jumped with multiple times, but most of the time I had completely different instructors each jump. I'm sure the staff at the school would arrange for other instructors if you ask. As for payment, I did it one jump at a time. I would only worry about it if you though you might change your mind or move. But, like you said, it's not a huge savings anyway. -
Yea, strange they didn't check them, maybe they just looked and they were done up and the excess in it's elastic. There wasn't any chance of me falling out of it though. :) I'm not making any assumptions, but this is worth a read. http://makeithappen.com/spsj/fallout.html Not something that occurred to me before reading it.

You jumping at Perris? I noticed the tandems doing backflip exits from the sky van on Sunday. Looked like fun!

Congrats! I recently got my A at Perris. Gotta try out Elsinore one of these weekends. -
The instructor is on radio under canopy?

Nice! I always enjoy watching your videos. I grew up in Ogden. Didn't start jumping til after I moved away. Gotta make it up there soon.

Please, please get away from the idea that you have "time". Time is the last thing you should be thinking about. It's altitude that concerns you, not time. Anytime you are having a problem you need to know your altitude...THAT'S what tells you your limits, not time. There's a couple of reasons for this: 1. Time distortion - Your perception of time is going to be off when that adrenaline hits your brain as you realize you are having a problem. 2. Your altimeter - It doesn't suffer time distortion. It doesn't lie to you like your brain does. 3. You have Decision Altitude, not a Decision Time. Thanks in advance. Excellent point. Thanks Pops!

Good Work! This is why I have no problem being a high puller for a while. More time to sort things out. Did you pack it yourself? If not, did you mention this to the packer?

I'm almost exactly 100 miles from my home DZ. About 90 mins on the way there, but over 2 hours on the way home. Too bad I didn't start years ago. There's a DZ in my home town less than 10 mins from my parents house.

Congrats! Got mine today also!

Thanks for the sites. Those are great! Now I know to go Monday instead of tomorrow.

Nice! I'd liked the tracking shot. Don't see that very often, and as a student it's helpful to see it from the chaser's point of view. -
Hello from Woodland Hills California

AFF was pretty smooth except for my terrible exit on my first attempt at level 2. Now that I've got the skills and the confidence, I'm really enjoying my solo jumps. I did a frontflip exit outta the skyvan on Saturday. So fun! Gotta fit a packing class into my schedule soon. -

Ya. I definitely need to practice fall rate changes. Also need to practice climb out exits. I've been doing diving exits since I'm most comfortable with those. -

Cool. I'm content to work on solo maneuvers for now. Did lots of 360s and barrel rolls yesterday. There's a deal if I do all my coach jumps in one day, so I may do that in a couple weeks. I feel like I'm really getting to enjoy the sport now. -

Hi everyone. I finished AFF a week ago, and did my first solo jumps yesterday! I'm so addicted now. My home dropzone is Perris. If anyone in my area wants to carpool on the weekends, I'd love the company. I've been going one day every weekend. Working on my A license, so I can only jump with instructors right now.
