  1. Empuriabrava for me. :) I'm available for teaching a First Flight Course and (advanced) coaching.
  2. Everyone knows that wingsuits produce lift. The question is if a wingsuit can create more lift than the force of gravity pulling us down. Not everyone knows it here, showed by many posters before. A wingsuit will do that when it's sink rate (vertical speed) be less than the speed of the rising air. The speed of the rising air minus your wingsuit sink rate, the result is how much lift your having. The bigger the suit the better the sink rate, the better the sink rate the more chance you have to lifted by rising air. Sorry, I don't quiet get why rising air comes here into the equation. I mean. Your right, but wingsuits are hardly affected by rising air. 3. Like this: https://vimeo.com/34439409 ? Wingsuits are nowhere near the level of performance of a glider. I believe you can slow you decent like in the movie or gain altitude for 6 seconds when you convert speed. But a wingsuit is a really bad glider ... they are not in the same ballpark. Thermals are totally useless for wingsuit pilots. They are simply not strong enough. I mean: what do you think our average sink rate is? 4. I didn't ask. So I think it's standard now.
  5. A week ago I received the Havok by PF. I choose the Havok because I had over 200 jumps on my Phantom2 and was looking for something with a little bit more power. Jarno was jumping the prototype for a while and was really enthusiastic about it. So how does it fly? It's powerful. It's comparable to the Ghost2 I've flown. But the big advantage over the Ghost: the agility, the ease of flight/pull and the great stability on it's back. It took me about 60 seconds to find out how to fly it. So it's quit easy to learn and I expect relatively easy to master. In a casual solo sightseeing flight, I did 166 seconds (13.500ft to 2.500 ft) http://paralog.net/ppc/showtrack.php?trackid=13004 Pictures attached taken on the ground. And of course some video in the air: http://vimeo.com/46785250. PS. It came with an inside breast pocket! So I can lissen to my iPhone or play a game on my way up. 6. Can you give more detail about the behavior of the compass? Does it turn 180 degrees or just a few? "The 'perfect' parachute jump was thought to be one where the opening shock and touchdown were simultaneous" -Lyle Cameron, ~1965 --- Falling-With-Style.com
  7. Schaffen is closer than Zwartberg. A 50 min. drive from Brussels. See: http://www.pcv.be/en/welcome/ for more information. Or just e-mail them. 8. I went trough O'Hare past sunday during the NATO summit. No problems at all. Even with a hook knive in a mud flap. They did a explosives test in Dusseldorf. 9. No because a little bit bigger than a GoPro is to big. I'm used to the FlySight. And that is smal, compact. And is also a logger. Only glide is not that important for me. 13. Nice article in Wired: Would the Stratos Space Jump Be Similar to Reentry? http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2012/02/would-the-stratos-space-jump-be-similar-to-reentry/ spoiler: no. 17. Nice app. My suggestions: - custom fall rate - turning the beeps on/off (maybe in the heights list: "off; 6,000; 5,500; etc ...") "The 'perfect' parachute jump was thought to be one where the opening shock and touchdown were simultaneous" -Lyle Cameron, ~1965 --- Falling-With-Style.com
  18. You don't have to do anything. Just jump. :-) Did you test it at home? (e.g. go outside; make sure it has a lock; copy the coordinates from the log and put them in the config.txt; go outside again an run around the neighborhood.) 19. grap ... *miss* ... grap, hold, release. I'm not a thrower. I rarely throw my pilotchute. I never thought about it. It's always in one motion and never had any problems. so I think it's in my system now. Maybe I'm gonna work on it.
  20. Nice! Too bad I couldn't make it. But here is some blooper footage from our practice session above Soulac and gap: http://vimeo.com/28200839 Yeah... a lot of hard work to master those sequentials. The full video is coming soon. 21. About the jerkyness; Did you try a longer shutter speed? And gives it better results? Nice example in difference: Sample video 5 and Sample video 6. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos600d/page15.asp "The 'perfect' parachute jump was thought to be one where the opening shock and touchdown were simultaneous" -Lyle Cameron, ~1965 --- Falling-With-Style.com
  22. This had noting to do with it being snag proof or not. It's about awareness. Know how you can activate someones reserve... But this can also happen with a ContourHD, Sony, hand or foot. That's why many people opt for soft handles. They make a trade off between a snag proof reseve handle, of an easier pull. 23. We used this software a lot in Soulac and Gap. To be honest: It was awesome! Spike flew base on his back a lot of the time and he always flew right to the dropzone. (sometimes it was hard for us to see the DZ due to the clouds) If the weather is good, I will test the new software this weekend above Texel (NL). 24. The best trackers have a better glide than the bottom (10) wingsuit pilots. They outperform (big) wingsuits. That's impressive. :-) "The 'perfect' parachute jump was thought to be one where the opening shock and touchdown were simultaneous" -Lyle Cameron, ~1965 --- Falling-With-Style.com
