  1. Man I'm so excited! I completed the ground school and my first AFF jump today. It was every bit as thrilling as my first Tandem. Knowing that I was in complete control was so exhilarating. The weather was absolutely perfect! After correcting a slow right turn after exit, I started my dive. Went through everything my instructor taught me and pulled at 5000'. End cells didn't inflate completely upon deployment, but a couple of tugs on the toggles and they filled beautifully. The canopy flew great. Left/right turns were smooth. I did a full flare at 3500' to check stability. Everything was great. Downwind approach was nice and clean. I made some minor corrections to stay on course due to the winds. Final approach was spot on. Flared at 10' and briefly touch my left knee on landing and was then able to walk out the rest of the landing. During my debrief, my instructor said that I had good awareness since I was able to correct my slow right turn after exit. I cannot wait to continue the rest of my AFF jumps. I just wish I would have gotten into this awesome sport 10 years ago. Feedom isn't free, but it's worth fighting for!
  2. Thanks for the words of encouragement. James, you are correct on both counts. I'm doing my training through Skydive N'Awlins in Slidell and jumping from a 182. Feedom isn't free, but it's worth fighting for!
  3. Hello fellow skydivers. I just completed my 2nd Jump and I'm hooked! I did everything exactly as my instructor explained to me on the ground. We exited at 10,000 ft. He informed me that our exit to arch was excellent. Practiced touching the ripcord 3 times, did a couple left and right turns, maintained my altitude awareness, and pulled at 4500 ft. He even let me steer the canopy and do some left and right spiral turns. He brought us down to a perfect landing on our feet! He cleared me for my Level 3 jump, which I will be doing before the end of the month. At age 38, I can only wonder why it took me so long to get into this awesome sport!!! I am definitely going to continue on to AFF on my 4th jump. Feedom isn't free, but it's worth fighting for!
