on a FF suit, you usually have more fabric, generally cotton to slow you down a bit. boosters are great. I don't have a RW suit, and when I borrow one, I really love to have boosters... They make you track so fast. First jumps seem slippery/soapy for precision, but once you understand how they work... It's purrr-fect ---------- Fumer tue, péter pue ------------- ourson #10, Mosquito Uno, CBT 579

I think at some point you should learn how to stall and try and re-open... I know the mentality is different in skydiving, but in paragliding, we used to pull each line, groups of lines etc to induce collapsing, and try and open again, stalls, flatspins, negative turns etc... and that was before reserves existed for paragliders. and for the alternate LZ, why not go for a cross country and try and cover the max distance, with a light loaded canopy, you might catch thermals and establish a new distance record at your DZ WOW, I think I'm talking about a different sport here... ---------- Fumer tue, péter pue ------------- ourson #10, Mosquito Uno, CBT 579

How dangerous is this wingsuit flying mountain swoop video?
lazyfrog replied to BravestDog's topic in Wing Suit Flying
according to what loic said, he had a good working margin, as he had to go more full speed than full glide. if he had to go full glide, I don't think he would have done it. there is no improvisation in what he did, they looked for the perfect slope, and there it was. I personnally don't think they want to die young. They think about what they do responsably, they are adults. And on the video you see after he flies by the skiers, he gets into a flatter line of flight to get some altitude and then turn left over the cliff so he can open safely. There is certainly a part of luck, like in anything in life. (miracles happen every day at dropzones ). But the knowledge of : -how to fly -where you fly -your equipment etc.etc etc certainly requires a lower level of... luck by the way, read things about winds etc in the forum... To all the guys who never flew in winter, have a try. Fly over snow, fly in mountains, fly with other things than parachutes, try paraglyding, hanggliding, glider etc... all this will help you understand many things. Just don't forget that parachutes are "one of the worst" performing flying objects... Which is absolutely normal, considering it also has to deploy at high speed and that the skydiver is most likely wanting to survive each opening ---------- Fumer tue, péter pue ------------- ourson #10, Mosquito Uno, CBT 579 -
that's why I love the porter... never jumped anything smaller ---------- Fumer tue, péter pue ------------- ourson #10, Mosquito Uno, CBT 579

all in all, with the time we took to order (18 suits...) (some were slow to decide... ), took around 10 weeks, but from the very day the order was passed to Fly your Body, approx 8 weeks.. to jump in Switzerland, no "real" law or regulation... Whatever the manufacturer recommends.. And they recomend the same as Birdman (as far as I know...), 500 jumps, or coached jumps with 250 (or 200, can't remember) jumps in the last 18 months. I started 18 months ago and have 360 jumps... So must be enough... Gonna try it on sunday. For the moment, of what I've tried (in 2 hours time ) really easy to put your rig on, to get in the suit, and to reach the release handle (single handle) will keep you all informed once I did my first jump. ---------- Fumer tue, péter pue ------------- ourson #10, Mosquito Uno, CBT 579
