    that chest strap grip is a problem, you should have an arm grip instead. jumper in blue turned out of the relative wind too early and flipped under. He is the point of your linked exit, so he's a diver- his legs should be bent up nearly to his butt until you're off the hill. Looks like you were giving the count and pushed out pretty hard; that can spin the 3-way star in an interesting fashion. You can try a different exit formation, like a stairstep, which might allow you all to get your own piece of the wind easier. This is just my perspective-

    yes. As a student, maybe jump #12? Steering line broke at the fingertrap, so I unstowed the left toggle, played around (turns, practice flares) above my decision altitude, and decided I'd be okay. Nice soft standup landing but I overshot my intended touchdown point by a bit. My first parachute training was in the Army on T-10s, so I wasn't concerned about my ability to PLF or use risers, but wasn't too familiar with how a ram-air would react to the riser inputs.

    Take a look at Westside Skydive http://www.westsideskydivers.com/ too- they're a turbine dropzone about an hour south of St. Cloud. Very friendly place. First time I jumped down there, came in with 36 jumps expecting that no one would want to fly with me; but before I knew it I doing RW with the DZO and a few of his instructors... The student program at Westside is AFP, so give them a call first to figure out what would be involved. I'm sure you'd need to bring your progression card along at a minimum.

    Welcome to the forums and the sport! My home DZ is Fargo, so we're shut down for the winter as well. Which DZ are you doing student training?

    This is a skydiving club with required annual dues. $50 first year, $25 for returning members. For visiting, licensed skydivers a $10/week membership is available. Weekends and limited weekday hours from March through November. Limited AFF.
