I am sure there are a number of smart, well qualified people who would make a good president. They are probably smart enough not to want to be president. If Trump is elected, he will be gone after 4 more years. If Biden is elected, he will probably not last more than 4 years if that due to his age. Let's hope we have good choices in 2024.

I am not sure crazy is the right word but he sure is one wacky dude. I said this before the 2016 election and I will say it again, we need a third choice on the ballot, None Of The Above.

I know I have lost some hearing due to loud rock-n-roll when I was younger and too many hours in airplanes with no hearing protection but with everyone wearing a mask, they all sound like Kenny from South Park.

This is a comment from an article on avweb.com about passengers required to wear face masks. It may not be all that safe to wear a mask at altitude in an aircraft. "Using a mask (especially the N95 ones) require breathing in a lot more CO2 than you would be normally without the mask." https://www.avweb.com/aviation-news/jetblue-to-require-passenger-face-masks/#comment-6318 Matt W. April 28, 2020 at 7:10 pm Not sure about any filters, but the pressurized planes I have flown have outflow valves located in the aft part of plane. Cabin air is replaced many times per minute when in flight. Not familiar with Boeing or Airbus pressurization systems. Per my company’s procedure I was wearing a mask when my charter passengers showed and during loading of baggage. Now I am far from being in top physical shape so after loading several typical charter passenger bags I felt a little “light” headed and took mask off and waited to catch my breath. Using a mask (especially the N95 ones) require breathing in a lot more CO2 than you would be normally without the mask. I found out on Google that this is a training method some athletes use to simulate a higher altitude for their competitions, giving them an edge in any competitions they participate in. Not trying to be offensive to any flight attendant, I have seen my share of those flight attendants (male or female) who are in just the same physical condition as myself or worse. Imagine one loading several passenger carryons then passing out from lack of O2 due to the mask. How about using a mask at cruise altitude (most airliner cabin altitudes are from 6000 to 8000 ft). The effects of higher altitude will magnify any hypoxia effects along with anyone who smokes. How fast can you take the mask off so you can put on supplemental O2 in a pressurization failure? This possible emergency was discussed at my company and procedure is once in the cockpit the mask comes off, period. With the FAA emphasis on pilots not having a beard when flying pressurized airplanes kind of makes me think the SAFO referred in this article is a cop out. Why does the FAA just come out and say without proper training wearing any face covering is not safe for flight crews? These same issues have been discussed at the 2 drop zones that I fly jumpers at. I will not fly skydivers if they wear any mask covering their faces during the climb to altitude. Sorry about the long response but there has not been anyone thinking about the issues that come up with N95 mask use in airplane cabins whether pressurized or not.

I hope Biden picks a really good and qualified vice presidential candidate. They may eventually be running the country if or when Biden is no longer able.

A priest wakes up at 5:00 am on a Sunday to write his sermon for the days church services. It is the first beautiful day after a week of rain. The priest loves to play golf but hasn't had a chance due to the weather and just cant resist the sunshine. He decides to recycle one of his sermons from last year and go play a round of golf. He figures it is so early, he can play a quick round and no one will know. Off he goes. He gets to the 7 th hole and it is a long par 5. God looks down an sees the priest and says to St Peter "what is that priest doing playing golf on a Sunday before church, I want you to punish him". The priest tees up and hits the ball and it is a hole in one. God looks down and says to St Peter, "I thought I told you to punish him". St Peter replies, " I did, who is he going to tell".

Up to 8 cases now.

Back in 1965 there was a major power outage in the northeast US. Nine months later there was small population boom. I wonder if the something similar will happen with the current situation.

Latest information I could find, 5 cases, out of 35,000 residents, in my county in central New York.

From; avweb.com Any pilot whose medical expires after March 30 can continue to fly until June 30 without renewing in light of the novel coronavirus crisis. The FAA announced on Friday it will not be enforcing medical expirations during that period so that medical personnel can focus on dealing with the pandemic. “The Notice states that from March 31, 2020 to June 30, 2020, the FAA will not take legal enforcement action against any person serving as a required pilot flight crew member or flight engineer who holds a medical certificate that expires within this time period,” AOPA quoted an email from FAA staff as reporting. The announcement came after AOPA and other aviation groups called on the FAA to relax deadline-sensitive pilot qualifications, which in addition to medicals include checkrides and knowledge tests. “The FAA is meeting the moment by finding the quickest and most effective path to address an urgent need and we deeply appreciate the creative thinking and recognition that keeping general aviation operational serves a greater good,” said AOPA President Mark Baker. National Air Transportation Association Senior Vice President Ryan Waguespack also commended the action, saying it was necessary to keep Part 135 carriers operational. “NATA is grateful the FAA is continuing to listen to our requests to support the 135 industry during this critical time,” he said.

Went to the grocery store and they were all out of toilet paper. I also had to go to the hardware store, they were all out of 6 foot tape measures.

Can't we spread a rumor that skydiving prevents the Corona virus. What a boost to the tandem business and we could jack up the price.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Democratic Presidential Candidate ? Democrats are increasingly worried that Joe Biden will have trouble being relevant and compelling in the long four months between now and when he is nominated in July. Lloyd Constantine, who was a senior policy adviser to New York governor Eliot Spitzer from 2007 to 2008, puts it bluntly: “Biden is a melting ice cube. Those of us who have closely watched as time ravaged the once sharp or even brilliant minds of loved ones and colleagues, recognize what is happening to the good soldier Joe.” https://www.nationalreview.com/2020/03/could-a-draft-cuomo-movement-be-in-the-democrats-future/

From Avweb.com "Canada has extended medical privileges for as much as four months for pilots whose medicals expire before June 1 and AOPA is asking for similar consideration and more for U.S. pilots. AOPA says it is now working with the FAA to figure out what to do about pilots whose medicals expire at the end of March and can’t get an appointment because of coronavirus measures. In Canada, as of March 17, anyone whose medical expires before June 1 can keep flying until Aug. 1 on the old medical. Transport Canada also told its Civil Aviation Medical Examiners to not book any appointments before May 1 to prevent unnecessary strain on the medical system. Meanwhile, medicals are just one of several time-related issues facing pilots that AOPA wants the FAA to address."

After 911, Rudy Giuliani was referred to as "America's Mayor". I watched most of a news conference today with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. I thought he did a pretty good job, maybe the term "America's Governor" would fit. On a related note, He may be a better Democratic candidate than Biden or Sanders.

I still can't understand the whole toilet paper hoarding thing. Since Sears doesn't print a catalog any more, I think the Manhattan phone book may make a good substitute.

There IS a problem with global warming... it stopped in 1998
Bigfalls replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
Due to the corona virus, airline travel and driving and commuting to work greatly reduced, will there be a measurable reduction in the CO2 levels in the atmosphere. -
Now I have to go look at some road kill to get that image out of my mind.

I am glad I am no longer in the DZ business. There is no way to tell what is going to happen and everything seems to be changing by the hour.

Must be the new math. That would be 1.529 million for one million people or $1.53 per person.

I think Greta should take a slow boat to china and tell Xi Jinping "how dare you".
-
You say that like it is a bad thing. Individually it is bad but over all, there are too many people on earth so for society in the long run, not so bad. Fewer people, fewer fossil fuels used, less CO2 in the atmosphere, less "global warming", I mean climate change.

If that were the case in the up coming election, we could end up with two losers, POTUS and VP.
