  1. UPDATE:: Just thought I'd keep you guys updated as to how things are going for me. This past weekend I completed 5 AFF jumps. I had to repeat Category D1 due to some mistakes on my part but after that everything went smoothly. I absolutely loved doing my first superman dive out of the airplane and then right into a back loop. Needless to say, I'm already a complete addict and can't wait until I have my A license. Until then though I have my first solo jump to look forward to next weekend!
  2. Relaxation actually plays a huge role in having a jump with good form. I managed to remember that on my first release CatC jump and it was by far my best one yet. I'll let you guys know how it all turns out for me this weekend.
  3. Waiting five days is about as long as I want to wait to get on with my AFF progression these days. I'll hopefully be heading back to the DZ this weekend. Just remember as counter-intuitive as it may seem considering all the practice arching you've probably done on the ground, remember to keep yourself relaxed during freefall. I actually remembered to do that on my first release dive and it made all the difference in the world as far as my body position went. Good luck, have fun, and let us know how it goes.
  4. Nicely done! I'll be doing my D-1 jump the next time I get to the DZ and I can only hope it goes as well for me as it did for you.
  5. So today I went to the drop zone expecting merely to make my Category A jump but ended up making my A, B, and C jumps. Everything went well especially the third when I was actually released. It just felt much more natural to me than the first two. I can't wait to get that A license.
  6. So everything is set and I have my ground schooling tomorrow evening and then the next morning I have my first "solo" jump. Of course, I'll have two instructors jumping with me but I'll have a solo canopy flight which seems to be the only part I think I could mess up, haha. Ultimately, I'm just extremely excited to finally be moving toward accomplishing something I never thought I'd actually do. Also, I know there are probably plenty of threads on this type of thing and I haven't really had a chance to search so if so don't bother answering, but if anyone has any suggestions for a beginners rig I'd be all ears. Any tips on what to look for would be great. I'm 6'1 and 160lbs and still (hopefully not for long) completely ignorant when it comes to this stuff.

  9. Hey everyone! I'm extremely new to skydiving and after doing some random google searches I decided I'd introduce myself here. I took my first jump about a week ago on a whim as it has always been something I've wanted to do yet never something I thought I'd actually go through with. I loved it so much that I decided to pursue my certification. Now I have my second jump this weekend. I'm a little nervous about jumping solo after this next tandem one but I suppose that's a natural feeling. Anyway, I just wanted to drop by the forums and introduce myself and hopefully looking around here can teach me some things.
