Yeah, I think I might have to go for something like the flexvision. I use ESS Advancer V12....... http://www.esseyepro.com/Advancer-V-12_99_detail.html which works great for the other applications, and has interchangeable lenses for low light conditions. But, I think their profile is too prominent and catches air when in sit. I have Gatorz, but haven't tried them for sitflying yet. Will give it a go. Thanx

" how do you like the pulse?" It's perfect for what I want. Smooth openings with very little drama. Fun to fly with short recovery arch. Nice landings. What made me decide on the PULSE , were those specific flight characteristics, and my container can be one size smaller, cause the PULSE packs smaller. I have a 190, and if I want to downsize, to let's say a Sabre 2 170, it still fits perfectly with the same container. It seems we are pretty much on the same page as far as these things are concerned. cheers.

I am having significant trouble with my expensive goggles when sitflying. They keep shifting up. Otherwise they work great Does this happen? Ie do I just have to deal with it? Are there any tricks? Better goggles? And no, Search was not my friend. I look forward to your helpfull responses. Cheers

In short, and only my opinion: Don't let someone do manipulations on your back ( ie chiropractor) if you don't know WHAT it is that irritates the nerve. Is it a disc, muscle, piece of bone etc.? Core muscle exercises will strengthen the back support and help with your posture, but it does not mean that your spine was out of "alignment " prior to the exercises. Heat, massage, accupuncture, physiotherapy, appropriate exercises and medications are the conservative methods of dealing with this, and 95% of people require only conservative methods for the symptoms to subside. APPROPRIATE exercises is the key here, as certain abdominal exercises, or exercises done the wrong way can make it worse. Stretching tables can be helpfull, but I think a visit to your GP for an examination and possible further investigations would be a good place to start. Good luck.

I usually don't like to make snotty remarks, BUT............ You registered in 2009 and then come up with a question like that! Even a novice on this site (like me) has seen and read and re-read this particular issue a 100 times. People who say "search is your friend" generally gives me a huge pain in the ass, and I won't mention it as it obviously isn't your friend. After numerous debates and people shelling out each others testicles around the subject it generally boils down to: 200 jumps. OR if you are stubborn whenever you're DZO OK's it OR if you are really stubborn, whenever you feel like it , taking into account you might be digging yourself deeper into the pile of shit. Leave the camera on the snowboard for now. cheers.

Your situation, or how you presented it, is confusing. If you need to make a ton of jumps, the answer si smiple, go to a DZ and jump. There are DZs that fly virtually all day, every day, go to one of them and stay until you have as many jumps as want. I'm not sure what being a packer has to do with any of this, but if the idea is that you can make money packing to pay for those jump, then it seems that your problem is needing the money for the jumps, not where to make the jumps. In that case, join the club. There are very few jumpers who are not limited by the financial aspect of the sport. Either they don't have the cash to jump as much as they wany, or they don't have the time because they're too busy working. That said, what the hell is wrong with you that after 100+ jumps you can't pack well enough to be a packer? if the answer is that you don't usually pack for yourself, you're answer is right in front of you - stop spending money on packers, and learn to do it for yourself and in turn, do it for others so you can make that jump money you need. I could not help myself posting. This is a VERY GOOD answer to a VERY SILLY question. The only way to get jump numbers up is to jump. BUT, packing is not the only way to pay your way to jump. You can babysit, wash cars, pack groceries etc etc. You do what you have to do to get it done.

Dealing with off-landings in a city / urban environment
oldrookie replied to pchapman's topic in Safety and Training
What was this guy DOING! I'm glad he walked away and all but.....WHAT? See that soccer field! Yeah land there! And holy mother of god that thing came down fast! Any info on this guy? I hope he's ok but OUCH! In which part of the video does it look as if he is EVER gonna make it ANYWHERE close to the sportsfield? EDIT: didn't see the other replies allready covering his inability to score a touchdown. -
Congrats! Packing the Pulse is pretty easy AND the underskin feels SUPER sexy. No problem sleeping naked in it! Enjoy it.

I have some experience with the Pulse, and if your numbers are correct,I can give you some insight from another low jump number person. I only have 20 jumps on my Pulse loaded at 1.1:1. I am fairly conservative as far as the canopy piloting is concerned. The canopy opens on heading and brisk but soft. Toggle pressure is light but the canopy pretty responsive. Take into consideration that my reference framework is based on bigger canopies and on a Pilot 190. Front riser pressure is still high and rear riser turns are fun enough as far as I am concerned. The canopy recovers pretty quickly after a front riser dive or turn. The initial flare was more pronounced than on the pilot and I had some popping up issues due to over aggressive toggle application on the initial movement. The initial 1/4 of the flare is usually enough for me to plane out. The rest of the flare probably has less punch, but slows down the canopy steadily once planed out, for a nice landing. My home DZ will probably do a back to back comparison of 4 190sq ft canopies, including the pulse, to get a more real world feel. I am very happy, and got exactly what I was looking for. I am also sure that someone will point out that you should take my jump numbers and overall experience into account when processing this "opinion". I don't see any icons for "cheers, have another beer" cheers

Ankle injury - Ruptured ATFL
oldrookie replied to iwasinkheson68's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If it's ruptured it needs to be stabilized until it can heal. Healing for this will likely take a full 6 weeks. You can ignore it, but that will lead to a lax or incomplete ligament, which will lead to long term instability in the ankle. Yep, thats the answer. You are still very welcome to harden the fuck up, but don't be stupid. -
TV PRODUCER TRYING TO SOURCE VIDEO
oldrookie replied to outrageousvids's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That"s a very serious impact travelling at high speed. NOT FUNNY AT ALL. Jump out of you car at 30 mph into a brick wall feet first and see if it's funny. -
Great stuff people! Allready screwed up. We have 5 participating skydivers but only count 4. Unless you don't call "scruffy" a skydiver........which he or she will be really unhappy about. This is not going to end well.

Fixit and forget about it. Life's too short.

Cool . Welcome. -
It saddens me that the super sexy Mirage container I ordered will NOT get me into girls' pants! Before the feminists jump in, I am married and would probably get into my wife's pants more often if I didn't buy a rig OF ANY KIND. :) People should lighten up. There are bigger issues in the world than this add.
