  1. If you're terminally curious, you can also buy the book in PDF format directly from the 1StBooks web site for $4.95. Check out the "preview," which refers to the "propellors" on the 206. HW
  2. Envy Nate Pond (D-69) and his son Gary Pond (D-6969). HW
  3. I think this custom originated at the Shawanga something-or-other airport 30 or 40 miles south of the Ranch. Its runway went so far downhill that you lost sight of the plane before it left the ground. HW
  4. Almost certainly... http://www.collingsfoundation.org/ HW
  5. Well. I posted this info on Places to Jump, but it seems worthy of wider dissemination: http://www.newyorkskydiving.com/ is registered to Cary Quattachi, also of Atlanta Skydiving Center. The site does not say where New York Skydiving Center is located. There have been questions raised here and elsewhere about the multiple ASC sites. HW HW
  6. The Apple Macintosh support forum/discussions has a pretty good set of questions and answers and is also a good place to ask questions. iMovie has a couple of things I prefer over FCE, but not many. Be patient; it takes some learning. OTOH you really don't need to know all about garbage mattes and keyframing to do good work with FCE. HW
  7. See the Jumptown site for details: www.jumptown.com The additional aircraft for the 100 ways are only going to be there on Monday and Tuesday. I'm sure that as usual, Jumptown will have plenty of freaks over the weekend. HW
  8. They will undoubtedly take off from Nashua, NH, which is less than 10 miles away. It's happened there in the past with a Caribou. HW
  9. One wonders how the recording mechanism would stand up to freefall and opening shock. HW
  10. Unless it's closed really recently, there's Vermont Skydiving Adventures in West Addison. OTOH there's currently none in New Hampshire. HW
  11. DZ.COM's Staso, aka Stan Snigir, is the only "American" in the standings (even though he's from some foreign country). Pretty impressive; how come no one else represents the US in these events? That's him in the last picture of the bunch (103) with an annoyed look on his face and a priceless sign in the background. HW
  12. Wasn't the FAA; it was the state of Rhode Island, which owns the airport and which has other absurd rules such as that every skydiver must have a medical certificate.
  13. Interesting. At least they have a physical presence (store), not just a virtual presence. HW
  14. Interesting. I would normally be suspicious of third-party warranties. Who does the work? Do these online retailers push Mack? HW
  15. Those bastiches must have added the Mac product after I checked their site. HW
  16. Who or what is Mack? I know nothing. HW
  17. Well, NewbieSlick, the "problem" is that murrays is a Mac guy. HW
  18. USPA is submitting a bid to the world organization to host the world meet, stipulating Skydiving Arizona as the proposed site. Skydive AZ could not submit such a bid. HW
  19. Two blondes and a redhead on a rope, rappelling down a cliff. The rope begins to fray and they decide someone has to drop off. The redhead says "I've had a long and fulfilling life. I"ll go" The blondes applaud.
  20. Did Chris or anyone else give you a clue about why the premiums will increase? IOW, what losses did the insurance pay for? HW
  21. There was also the Bird Machine. Maybe it's one of these, maybe another. Someone in FL should ask Bird. HW
  22. About as confirmed as anything can be in this sport. Actually it's scheduled through Tuesday the 19th. http://www.jumptown.com one of the best-maintained and most current skydiving web sites I've seen. HW
  23. I regard videot as a term of affection and respect. So why didn't you yell at Cajones a couple of months ago when he wrote: HW
  24. Most of the videots I know use variants on the Panasonic WJ-AV boards. The older (but still capable) versions are probably available on eBay. HW
