  1. High:being dismissed from one of my classes for the remainder of the semester (2weeks) b/c I have a grade high enough to be exempt from the final. Low: alot... "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  2. Not sure about other states, but TX will give you a little card to fill out at the DMV and then give you a "donor" sticker to put on your license. I've been an organ, tissue and cornea donor since I was 16. The way I look at it is if I go I might as well help others who might need it. Thanks for sharing the good news bytch...sending good vibes for your family. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  3. Dr. Pepper (and wishing I had some whiskey in it) "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  4. ok I have several... High:knowing the semester is almost over and that I might be exempt from most of my final exams. Low:having to cough up almost $150 out of pocket for a stupid 2 week summer course (not to mention cost of the damn book for said course). High:knowing I have friends to be thankful for

  7. I totally agree, man. It seems like theres always an abundance of the things you dont like...especially those two unpleasantries. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  8. eh..me and my best friend went to see A Man Apart last night (woohoo Vin Diesel!) it was actually pretty good. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  9. Damn if that aint the truth! Too bad I couldnt have "accidentally missed the van" when it left to go back home. Then I coulda called my best friend, whos in Houston, and had him meet me in Huntsville. I could be partying in Houston right now with a cute ass guy and getting in all kinds of trouble.Dammit! Why in hell didnt I miss that van?! "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  10. I'm a CJ major at Navarro, but seriously considering transferring to SHSU next year. We did tour the CJ college at Sam though after we left "the walls". "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  11. Nope..I love steak, beer and a few of the other activities mentioned, but I plead the 5th on any other details. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  12. ...literally. I spent time on death row and in the execution chamber today. Why? Because I'm a Criminal Justice major and we took a tour of the Huntsville, TX prison unit. It was actually very interesting. The history of this unit is great because it was the first prison system in TX, built in the mid 1800s and has housed a few infamous names such as John Wesley Hardin and members of Bonnie and Clyde's gang. It was a little odd walking around "the yard" with over 1600 inmates around you. Getting a step-by-step walk through of the execution process (from last meal to last rites) from the head warden was a bit sobering as well. We also got to see the original electric chair that was retired in the mid 70s when the US Supreme Court handed down the new regulations for capital punishment/executions. It was a unique experience. Rarely do people give a second thought to the system once their jury duty service is over. Its interesting to see a behind the scenes view of exactly how justice is carried out. OK! So I'm weird! "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  13. That describes a normal weekend at the DZ for alot of people though (me not included). "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  14. and just who have you been getting your information from? Btw...*SLAP!* "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  15. Jeez! I knew that would be brought up sooner or later. No,I'm not that type of intern. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  16. The facility is actually in the same county as the college. Its not a very big place. Thanks!
  17. Nah, I dont think I'd want to be on a plane with these kids. (the movie ConAir comes to mind ) This isnt just a few kids caught up with the law for vandalism or shoplifting. This facility is home to those serving time for felonies (including murder, rape, arson etc) until they turn 17 or 18 when they'll then be shipped off to a state prison to finish their sentence. The facility also has a few psych units. I think this is going to be a real learning experience and initiation into the Tx Dept of Criminal Justice. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  18. I've talked to my Criminal Justice prof and she said it looks like she can get me an summer intern position at the Texas Youth Commission Juvenile Corrections Facility. I'd be working about 20 hours a week and get practicum credit hours for it. Then when the fall semester starts I can be an intern in the CJ program on campus with her supervision. This opportunity would be a really good step for my education/future career advancement. *keeping fingers crossed* Ok, thats all I had to say.Just postwhoring a bit. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  19. Theres also a Gun Barrel City,Tx not too far from my hometown. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  20. Yep, and just think, I have 2 CJ classes so this trip will count as a major grade in 2 different classes. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  21. Ugh! I hate research papers! But then again, being a Criminal Justice major our final grade includes taking a trip to the Huntsville,Tx prison system...including a walk-through of the death chamber. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  22. I think its all relative..age is just a number. But it does become an issue when you add maturity and how the two of you interact with each other/each persons personalities. I've been involved with guys my own age, a year or so younger, and significantly older (about a 13 year age difference on that one). It all depends on the individual. Just be happy with yourself and with each other.
  23. Funny you should mention this. My cat sleeps on me all night. She loves to curl up and sleep on my back, stomach or butt..and as I move or roll over at night she just kinda gets up,does this little "lumberjack barrel-walk" maneuver and curls back up to sleep. Every morning she wakes me up by sitting on my head and mewoing, batting at my nose or hands and licking me until I give up and get out of bed to feed her. It doesnt matter how much food I give her the night before,if theres still any in the bowl or not..she still has to wake me up every morning when my alarm gets ready to go off. There have been some mornings I'm glad she was there to torment me because otherwise I'd have been late for class due to forgetting to set the alarm or not hearing it go off. Today was different..she decided to wake me up early. I dont have class until 11..so I usually get up around 9:30 to get ready and drive to the college. Well, here comes the furball, meowing, licking, rubbing and batting my face to give me my wake up call. I roll over and check the clock.."crap! its 9:45 I forgot the alarm!" I get up, feed the cat and my ferrets, get ready, choke down some energy pills and oj on the way out the door. Drive the 20 minutes into town and another 10 to the college. While playing with the CD player in my truck I notice the clock says 8:30.WTF? That cant be right..**looking at watch** well shit! Apparently my cat decided to wake me up at 7:45 and not 9:45 and I misread the clock when I got up. I'm 2 hours early. So, laughing at myself and feeling like an ass I came back home to do some stuff and kill time before class. Gotta love the little hairball. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
