Don't twist my words... you know exactly what I mean. There would not have been the need for an emergency approval of a new budget: there would already have been a budget intended for natural catastrophies. If you pay a little bit more attention you would perceive that I am one of those crazy individuals who think that war is unnecessary, costly (both in money and human lives) and just plain stupid. There are better ways to use money than to invade countries and kill people.
-
Here's what I think: would it not be nice if at least SOME of the billions of dollars used for creating war and havoc in a foreign Country were used to save lives, feed, and shelter people in your own Country? Just an idea for the next federal budget.

Do you have any idea how good will she do with an imitation Pit Suit (Tony suits) and booties? I am mostly worried about the spandex and booties, but am very interested.

Legitimate self defense... to repel an attack, not seek vengeance or financial or political gain at the expense of the lives of others, destruction, and pollution.
-
I agree. In addition, I strongly believe that any person with more feelings and love towards others than patriotism would NOT support military action if the life of their loved ones were on the line... Just my opinion.

Call me "Lightning Man" (trouble free... needs no batteries... only a pair of boobies). Cheer up. It is not you, it is them!

Then, maybe, it's simply a matter of time. Bear in mind that oil reserves won't last for long. That is why scientists and environmentalists are looking for alternate fuel sources. Whatever the real reason behind the war it seems almost impossible to convince a US soldier that there is an alternate (i.e., hidden) interest being pursued. It is always safe to alude to "self defense". But ... what do I know.

Can you say: VENEZUELA? KUWAIT? Dude, look at the big picture. It ain't pretty. Here in Mexico we are already the U.S.A.'s bitches... unfortunately we don't have (and have never had) a President with balls big enough to contradict Uncle Sam ... at least not lately.

You show me a quote from anyone, anywhere that said what you noted. Bill just posted two of them: "It is unknowable how long that conflict will last. It could last six days, six weeks. I doubt six months." -Rumsfeld, 2/7/03 "I think things have gotten so bad inside Iraq, from the standpoint of the Iraqi people, my belief is we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators... I think it will go relatively quickly…weeks rather than months." -Cheney, 3/16/03 It seems like first hand information to me. I heard them live during the initial press conferences... True. Especially if you level the entire Country to the ground with bombs. Nice business: destroy everything and bring in your own companies and personnel to rebuild everything. I'd like to get a piece of that action ($$$$$$$$)! Really, I admire your patriotism and valor, but I strongly believe that there is a deeper, more complicated intention behind the war on Iraq (or any other Country with large oil fields) than you and I can see. Simple (or rather 'complicated') economics. Peace out!

Wasn't this military action supposed to be swift? In and out in a couple of weeks?

Is the Use of Ethnic Names for Mascots and Marketing Acceptable?

If things keep going in the direction they are now, pretty soon it will have to be the Washington Native-Americans! Give me an N, give me an A, give me a T.... (I'm tired already ) New Orleans "Saints" would be in trouble because it makes reference to a particular religious group. Maybe the New Orleans "Nice Guys" will be politically correct. Oh, and the San Diego "Padres"! And the Oakland Raiders.... racial profiling! SDSU Aztecs!!!! .... crazy..... plain crazy.... -
Don't forget: Gas prices are soaring (... wait: how many oil wells does he and his family have??? )

You would be amazed about the things you ignore about your Country's government and the things your fellow nationals do abroad. The fact that you close your eyes or turn away does not mean it doesn't exist. It is very honorable, though, that you have blind faith on your system and governmental bodies (including your President). However, the rest of the world's perspective is different. Your news reports are slightly different from the news you see on European TV, for example. They do show the dismembered children after a bombing by the "allied forces". They do show the women and the elderly being killed. THOSE ARE VIOLATIONS TO THE LAWS OF WAR... and they are commited by your Country. Simply think about the concept of "freedom" that you claim as the main characteristic of your Country. You claim to be a "free" country, yet you have created some much hatred around the world that you now have to be looking over your shoulder EVERY SINGLE DAY. That, my friend, is not freedom. You are a free Country, but you are prohibited from visiting Cuba. That is not freedom. (I am sure you are not going to believe this, but what the hell: many many many tourists in Cuba are, you guessed it, from the USA... to get into Cuba thay ask that their passport is NOT stamped by the immigration officers and they have to fly out of Mexico to get to the island). You are a free Country but it is unthinkable to say the word "black" in public ... even if you are refering to the color of your vehicle, because there could be someone with darker skin around you and he might feel offended and bring the house down on you. Even a Mexican cartoon character is subject to scrutiny by the White House!!! You never hear our government officials complaining about Speedy Gonzalez! You claim to be free, but there cannot be a cross on top of a mountain because it depicts a specific religion and it offends a few people. What do you REALLY stand for? What are you REALLY fighting for? Whose wars are you fighting? Look at your war veterans living on the street... is that really worst than true poverty? It was a nice exchanging points of view with you guys, but this is taking us nowhere... Blue skies

Merely anecdotal. US law doesn't allow many things, but they still happen.

I will do my best, but I am pretty sure that such records are not available to the public. It is common knowledge though. A friend of mine works at a medical facility where they do the preliminary medical exams to all that enroll in the Marines... he told me that story. He said that around 85% of Mexicans that enroll are illegal immigrants with no social security number.

It's nice to know that you took your wife to a shit hole on your honeymoon. Sounds romantic. Listen, I understand and could even agree with you if what you are trying to say in your very limited vocabulary, that Mexico does not have the infrastructure that your Country does. True for the most part. But that doesn't mean that you can bash a great Country such as Mexico. It is a Country with tremendous amounts of culture, biodiversity and, most importantly, VALUES! You never know, maybe you might learn something from a Mexican someday.
-
Perhaps a little research could help you better understand just how complicated this matter really IS: How many illegal [immigrant] Mexicans do your military forces recruit and send to war with full knowledge of their immigration status? Don't ignore this question. It is very serious. Some illegal immigrants GIVE THEIR LIFE FOR YOUR COUNTRY in the hopes of getting the US citizenship... if they don't get killed, of course. If they do, well.... one less illegal immigrant, right? Why don't you complain about this? Why don't you demand that your government send only US citizens to war? This is real. It happens, whether you like it or not. Whether you know it or ignore it. Soooooo, illegal immigrants are allowed to die for the USofA, but not work the fields. Its just like Mojo said: Your 18 years old, you can go to war, kill another human being, BUT YOU CAN'T BUY BEER!

no it's not, do not come here by any means other than legal, period. "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door."
-
Here's my take on things: I DO NOT ADVOCATE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. I DO NOT ADVOCATE THE INVASION OF A COUNTRY. As you know, not all illegal immigrants are Mexican. A good percentage are from Central and South America. From what I know, Mexican immigrants (although illegal) flock to the US in search of better paying jobs, not a chance to commit crimes! And by crimes I mean steal, rape, kill. It is obvious that illegal immigration is a crime and that is why I clarify this point. Tijuana is a city that has been long affected by those illegal immigrants that cannot make it across the border. They stay here with no money, no family, no friends, no job. I would say that 99% of those that were unsuccessful and stay here turn to heavy drugs and stealing, therefore compromising our central area. People living in border towns dislike illegal immigration as much as you do. It affects our living standards. Notwithstanding, I strongly believe that words of hate or bullets solve nothing. A gun might solve the problem momentarily, but not the core of the matter. Perhaps if we all read a little bit more, if we investigated about each other's background, language, customs, it would be easier to understand.

On the Mexican side of the fence there are about 198 (+/-) crosses that represent each of the immigrants that were killed by gunfire or died of other causes in their attempt to cross illegaly into the U.S. Some of those have names, some of them don't. Also, check the web for Minuteman Project and related discussions. You are right. I should not generalize and for that I apologize. Agree again. Hats off! That is precisely my point. Yes, but who started it? Who trained the terrorists in the first place? (i.e., Osama) You reap what you sow. Tell me about it! I give counseling to foreign investors coming to Mexico.

And from Treejumper's profile I can see that he stated "THE WORLD" as his dropzone. I would assume that there are some places (like Mexico) where he would never set foot. My profile states San Ysidro as my address only for mailing purposes. I am one of the lucky ones that has a passport, a visa, and can cross legally into the US after waiting about 2.5 hours in line and being scrutinized by a very unhappy US officer. A funny thing that is not that funny: A lot of times, when Mexicans cross the border into the US (legally, they/we are mistreated by US customs officers. Surprisingly, Mexican-American officers are the ones that treat us the worst.

Originally, there are five continents in the world. Europe, Asia, Africa, America, Oceania. Modern geography teaches that there are seven: Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antartica, Europe and Australia/Oceania. The name of my country is ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS. People living in this country are Mexicanos. The name of your country is the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (ESTADOS UNIDOS DE AMERICA). See the difference? Oh, and lets not forget Canada... that is in North America, too, isn't it?
