I had a chance to speak with one of the insurance reps the other day regarding the issue and she indicated that their projections were such that over the next 10-20 years either the insurance companies will have to be allowed to exempt people of a given BMI or prices will have to greatly increase the costs to everyone by 50% to cover the resulting increase in medical costs. And I was just going to bitch about an icrease of $100 a year! Furthermore she was indicating that under the new laws, in theory.....not being in shape may or may not qualify as a pre existing condition nor qualify as discrimination. I couldn't believe it! But looking at the numbers, what is a company to do? Maybe things will change? Who knows? But we as a nation can't keep going down this road. Not only is it bad for a single guy trying to date but.....it's just not healthy for our wallets or our hearts! And yes, the woman in the first post is the "Average" for our nation. Actualy I'm 190 when I was wearing all the equipment. As of my last visit to the doctor I was at about 175. But that's just from me not feeling very good over the past few month and loosing way too much weight due to not going to the gym nor eating. She Marlin was a size 8? That's about right. I think that's about a good size to be to have a long and healthy life. And she was gorgeous. But then again, look where we live? How many hours per day do we sit in the office just feeling our asses get fatter and our bones get thinner? And then you get out of work at 6 and just want to eat dinner and die! So any woman or man who can go from work to the gym or to some sort of class for two hours per week, my hats off to them! I can but that's because I don't have kids so its easy for me. Velll. The aircraft was made using standard American sizes back in the early 80's. Since they from the looks of it the weight has pushed up 40lbs. So now the bolts holding the chair to the floor of the aircraft are now holding 40lbs more. If there was a sudden stop.....would those bolts hold the seat? Looking at that picture, I would say 160 is about how much one leg weighs. You know, makes you wonder how safe things are. I have a 33in gut and my numbers came back odd so had to go for the full physical. Than had the height and weight which put me on one end and blood pressure and lung capacity put me on the other. But I could still stand to loose another 5-10lbs. But those average numbers are not healthy by any stretch of the imagination. Just going for a half an hour walk twice a week would help push those numbers down and reduce the over all cost of health care. at 190? Really? I'm at about 185 at 5'7" and the last full check up I had for my life insurance the data that came back indicated that I was in the top 25% of people in terms of health. See the issue is this, can a girl be 5 and change and 160lbs? Sure, if she works out and was really really really in shape. Remember muscle weighs much more than flab. But if it's all flab then, that's not healthy. And once you start down the road to letting things go.....it's really had to pull it all back. At which point let's face it, its easier to sit back and accuse others of being shallow than saving your self from a unhealthy life.
