I felt the same way man. I was just trying to remember to much stuff. Just have fun, relax and do what they ask. Dont analyze everything.Once you get off AFF your gonna love it, Just read lots of stuff on skydiving and ask tons of questions..Then take what you need from it and practice different things in the air..Youll get it, good luck. Remember if your not having fun, then why jump? -

ThAnks. Ya the second one i was more aware and alert to the situation. The one thing i was thinkin was. I was thinkin if i was gonna be given shit by the other jumpers. I mean i have only 30 jumps and already 2 reserve rides. Didnt want it to look like i was just pulling the reserve before i troed to fix the problem.. guess thats me just bein a newby.lol.

Good job. What DZ do you jump at?
-
Not sure of how many jumps on the current line set . I jump different rigs usually . Yes, the opening was hard when the line broke. I didnt pack the rogs that mafunctioned on me. I am packing with the help of a packer. Dz owner said packers were probably the cause.

Last week had a right broken steering line. Decided it wasnt flying great and i didnt feel comfortable trying to land on risers. Today, first jump . Pulled at 4000'. Canopy opened and had tension knots on left side on lines A and B. Tried to correct them by flareing. The canopy was spinning and almost directly in front of me. I decided to cut away around 3000'.. Landed fine. I guess im writing this to see if anyone else has had reserve rides so close to one another? And any advise you might have.

Nice pics.... I did a hop n pop today at 3500' in Mesquite ,nv...IT WAS FREEZING..About 40 degrees on the ground...damn colder up there..The rest of the jumpers went up to 8000' because of clouds...they were all bitchen about the cold...Mesquite is nice though.Usually by 11 am is warm enough in winter..

So on my 3 rd and final jump of the day.. I pulled at 4000' had a VERY hard opening..( i was stable and in good position) people say it was because the nose wasnt tucked,,Anyways......My right steering toggle snapped upon deployment of the canopy...I reached for the left toggle..My chute was diving to the RIGHT.....I was at about 3300' and decided to cut away... When i landed we had tons to talk about..My question is,, DID i do the right thing? Some said i should of used the rear risers..I didnt really think to much about it,,I saw the problem and decided to cut away.. I have never landed with my rear risers and felt more comfortable cutting away...I have only 28 jumps..Just curious what everyone thinks....Damn crazy when you have to decided to cut away..lol.. -
Thanks for all the advice. Im at 25 jumps and absolutely Love it...Your all right .Relaxing and breathing is definitely helpful...I have to do a hop n pop Saturday and some gear check stuff and then im the new owner of a A license..lol... Thanks again. Shawn

vortexr1 replied to KTWilliams's topic in Introductions and Greets
I live in St. George and jump in Mesquite..You should make a weekend of it and come jump here..Dame i miss PC..i used to live there also..have fun man. -
Just out of Aff training...I have to say I'm glad I chose mesquite to become a skydiver..Brad,Joe,Fonz and all the rest are amazing. .They don't mess around with sacrificeing safety or teaching the wrong stuff.I'm working on my 13th jump and feel that I have been given all the tools necessary to become a skydiver. And pull out of any situation that's thrown at me..Ive already had 2 line twists and a weird landing. Thanks to Brad and Joe I have remembered my training And did great under those situations.. THANKS Mesquite. ...Highly recommended. ....

Ya, its my landing pattern that i need to work on along with the propere height 2 flare. The dz we land @ is pretty unforgiving. So you really have to hit it perfect.( no grass, lots of buildings, planes, and other obstacles)...good luck with your aff training,i feel ya,,lol,,i absolutely love this sport though..definitely hooked..
