  1. What keeps me jumping? The next challenge. I started in 1999, have made almost 13,000 jumps in that time, have obtained instructional ratings, done demos, TV and movie work, been a wind tunnel instructor and coach, participated in workings of our national organization, the USPA taught skydiving around the country and world, become a jump pilot, and I see no end to the list of things to keep challenging me. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

  11. There was an Australian rig called the Woomera if I remember correctly that had that system. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  12. Right?! Exactly what I was thinking. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  13. Cookie G3. Has reduced the number of sinus infections and illnesses I've picked up from students. Allows me to talk to the student easily with the visor up. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  14. Yeah, about that. Shoulda kept my day job. :-) ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

  17. This. A good instructor has a range of suits and knows what they can do with that range. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  18. Any student I've put in the air on their own (student) equipment does know how to do that before they board the aircraft. All 2500 of them. Period. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  19. Most of the time you can attribute it to one word: Ego. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  20. If you haven't figured it out already this sport unlike most in ALL about personal responsibility. There is no nanny in freefall. It's not a joke when we say "the only guarantee in skydiving is that you WILL land". Wake up to that or get out of my sport. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  21. Some DZ's prefer their instructors look the part, and keep a professional appearance. For the most part they are far more successful (as are the instructors) because students want a polished product these days. The day of the "dirty toe'd" skydiver are coming to a close. Since you're a contractor, if you're doing it right, all your gear is deductible, though I'd recommend talking to a tax professional about how. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  22. Pardon my french, but horse shit. I've been to far more meeting than you and it wouldn't cost time at all. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  23. Sorry to be blunt, but: Tough shit. In 1891 the great Louis Brandeis wrote “If the broad light of day could be let in upon men’s actions, it would purify them as the sun disinfects.” He later shortened it to "Sunlight is the best disinfectant." To this day, open public governance disclosure laws are commonly referred-to as "Sunshine Laws". That's no coincidence. The only thing worse than the potential for undisciplined mischief flowing full public disclosure is... any system providing less than that. In an open membership organization such as the USPA, it is simply inexcusable to not have full disclosure of BOD members' debates and votes, and equally inexcusable to fail to record and disseminate meetings when the when the means is clearly and easily there. Shame on anything less. Period, full stop. This x 35,000+. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  24. Don't ask that person for advice again. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  25. There is nothing in any TSO standard that addresses location of the mfr. ***You basically have to be some place where you can be monitored. Yup. It used to be that the FAA actually travelled to the foreign mfrs to keeps their eyes on them. But not anymore. They turn the oversight to the aviation entity in what ever country the PAH ( that's FAA-speak for Production Approval Holder ) the mfr is located in. JerryBaumchen Your statement is misleading. True the address it's self is not a part of the TSO standard but the facility is. You set up shop in one warehouse, and decide to move down the street because the rent is cheaper, your TSO is invalid until you have the facility inspected again. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are.
