Heehee...one weekend we had a Caravan at the DZ....it was SOOO slow (read: I am a otter snob) I took a damn good nap on the way to alti on almost every load!!!! Woke up right around 5,000 checked alti, back asleep then 10,000 in time for gear check like clock work. Course i also wonder what bandwith and speed may do to it as well. I did mine on a laptop, on a wireless connection to the DSL, and using the touch pad to click, tried with thumb first time (numbers posted) and second time I too had faster times. However at the time of testing I was also streaming MP3's across my wireless..... Neither am I...my .02 Hamm showed strength coming back from his mistakes. but that is my opinion. My statement as what WE thought who the winner was is truly subjective. Gymnatics is not like track and field or swimming. There is no set positive winner, it is interpretation of rules. There is no "finish line" yes there are set requirements, but above that it is based on artistic and technical merit, which in general is based on ones "opinion" Everyone has who they think were the star athletes in these games, no matter if they got a medal or not. Edited to add: Yes I have competed in both Track and Field in H.S. and Gymnastics as a kid and as an adult...and have medals from both. I never said that the Koreans behavior showed that of sportsmanship either. Everyone knows that, and weather Hamm has the medal or the Koreans we do know who performed the best. There are quite a few athletes that stand out because of there actions, as well as there performance. But in retaliation to the Koreans whining...so are we. That was my point. We are not sucking it up and going by what the IOC wants, now we are crying too. Understood. and I agree. I was not aware of the other "issues" My point is this. Everyone knows that there was a lot of whining going on because of the booboo...it would have made Hamm look like the bigger man to hand it over. Like I said, He as well as the rest of the world knows what he did, and how he performed. This is more of a sportsmanship thing. I'm not arguing who scored what, im making the statement that instead of both countries acting like 2 year olds pointing fingers, it would have been a sign of sportsmanship. But like them we are stomping our feet crying...pointing fingers. But nowadays there doesnt seem to be much sportsmanship in sports anymore, it is all about endorsements and who can make the bigger buck...even in the olympics. I have become somewhat annoyed with where amature sports has gone...its not amateur, these are professionals now. This brings up a very good point. And this seems to be a re-occuring theme in the olympics. Judges making "mistakes" then having to force the athletes to suffer, be it they won or lost, or the switch of the two. This is not the first time this has happend, and will not be the last. I also can pretty much guarantee that this may get blown up even further. I just gave my opinion if I were in that position. I would know what I did in my heart, as well as the rest of the world would know. This would have been a gesture between the two athlete's...but hey this is my opinion. He should not be "Forced". Personally I don't think I would want to be considered the "champ" based on technicality instead of true merit. My .02...If someone can't add...I don't think someone should be titled the winner, and the true winner not recognized because someone else is a moron. Having said that, it would be a show of true sportsmanship for Hamm to hand it over. But hey, I'm an armchair olympian! Haha! We did that at one of the places i worked at. A guy got pretty damn sick. He was suppose to be going with me on a business trip to NY to take over IT support out there. So while he was gone I decided we needed to have some fun, cause at that point we didnt think he was going to make it on the B-Trip. So we completely saran wrapped and sealed everything in his cube, then put up caution tape and hazardous waste signs! My boss was crying he was laughing so hard.
