So I was in the city the other day and stopped in at several camera shops to inquire about pricing. Two of the 6 shops said that they would sell me the PC101 NEW for $699.00 on the spot. I didn't have the cash, but I am wondering if these guys were yanking my chain, or can they really sell it for this price and make any money ? I'm wondering if I should waste my time and go back there when I am ready to buy. The way I read this thread, was like this : You asked a valid question, but it sounded like a newbie question and it got people thinking "Why in the world would this guy be jumping a HP canopy ?" Aggie answered and it was only out of concern that he asked. It was not meant to bash you or talk down to you. Then you got the attitiude that he was out to get you, and that simply was not the case. It's similar to someone wanting to downsize from a 190 to a 150 and asks what flat turns are. Make sense ?? Most people (IMO) would gather enough information about a canopy before purchasing it and therefore would know almost everything there is to know about one. Not only that, but I would assume that you would have jumped it a few times before purchase and then too you should have recognized the "holes" in your canopy and asked before purchasing. Oh gosh... I am so sad. I usually don't post condolence, but when it hits so close to home and hurts so much, I have to say something. Holly and I shared a few moments in Eloy on one RAD sit jump, and then talked a lot during that trip. She was the most laidback chick that I know. And she does give great hugs. I am really going to miss those. She's also one of the few people that can vouch for my mad sit skillz. I am going to miss you Holly. This is really really sad. I will have to share another sit with you in spirit. Thanks for the laughs and the hugs and the great times we shared in the sky. With consumer based wireless - 802.11a/b/g there isn't much available out there for security besides WEP And MAC filtering. However Cisco products have a security mechanism that is mostly used by them called LEAP. It is a form of EAP, that is not widely used - yet. It used NT domain authentication as one way of authenticating users. If you're using it at home, I wouldn't worry about security too much. Wep is actually pretty weak, but MAC filtering is your best bet unless someone sniffs your MAC and spoofs it. At home I use WEP and MAC filtering too. There is some software out there for wireless snooping - Boingo and netstumbler. NS is probably the most widely used for war chalking/driving but you need an Orinico or Lucent based Wireless card for it to work. Check out www.netstumbler.com for more info. I've recently been looking into helping start a wireless community where I live, so I may be able to provide some advice.
