  1. It's possible that the rigs you borrowed weren't cut the size they would be for you, and that was causing some of your interference. 2. She wouldn't know, she has never been there! Yes, more like a small dz club atmosphere... and I do believe they are running a fun jumper special for the rest of the month. Maybe I'll get to fun jump too! 3. Bulk/attachment ideas have usually put them in places that could interfere with the operation of reserves. Cables to activate it need to be stowed, the beacons need to be secured somewhere (near the 3 rings would be basically the only place you could make it reasonably useful to activate). But then where do you mount it so it's out of the way but still accessible? How do you activate it? How do you locate it after a chop? 4. There's nothing really cost effective and safe to use. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  5. The pack trays are different dimensions, however if they're listed for the same size canopies, they will have about the same volume. My Vector 3 looks significantly smaller than my old G3, despite being ~ 1 size smaller, it sure looked much smaller than that. Its all in how they're built. 7. Yup, because people just 'wake up' from heart attack/strokes. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  8. I've got a site that I'd be more than willing to host your files on for free. Just send me a drive (cd or whatnot) with them and I'll put them up. May not be able to use your DNS on them, but we could make due. 10. Check first to see if the PNF is conscious first. If also not then...if the flightplan is already programmed into the FMS/FMC/CDU just make sure the appropriate annunciator lights are activated at the right times and that the aircraft is in the correct modes. Use autothrottle, fly the flight director or in VNAV/LNAV/etc modes and if aircraft has FBW systems you don't even have to worry about stuff like trimming, turn coordination, etc declare emergency, get clearance for landing and let the aircraft land and flare itself by using the systems by doing a ILS CAT III autoland. At decision height be prepared to do a TOGA if stuff goes south. Just make sure to capture localizer and glideslope prior to that and at 50ft radio altimeter callout bring throttles back to idle, reversers activated to full position once on ground, back to idle at 80knots. All of that on a 182? I think not! FWIW, I'd probably get the pilot out of the seat, get everyone to bail and try to land the plane... But I do have a few hours. We have a pretty good size Class D right down the road with a nice long runway, I'm sure the owner of the plane would be happy to get it back in one piece and it might even be worth a few beers afterwords. 12. I've had the rig in my hands, though I'm not sure they would like me to post any pictures of it. The container is held closed by a flex pin (kinda like on the SDH) and a safety stow of drogue. The drogue is attached via a 3 ring (basically in the same location as a SDH) There are things that IMO aren't going to put it above the containers on the market, but only time will tell. I'm just a rookie TI/Rigger. What do I know? 13. And the "noise to signal" ratio just went through the roof. Yeah, the Eb/N0 on this thread has been hovering around 5. Back to the basics: the OP hurt his ankle on landing, shit happens, sorry bout your luck. If you try to pick up the sport, you'll either learn fast how to land safely or hurt yourself. Tandem landings are different than solo landings. Don't dwell on the past, thinking 'what if'. If you want to pursue it, get healed up, talk to the DZ and get started. If you don't, that's perfectly acceptable. 14. Most people would kill themselves in that situation. Even AFF students forget to pull their parachute, and they've had quite a bit of training and practice doing so. 17. At least they're less likely to try to kill you and they're stable! "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  18. You can pack your reserve all you want, but it's not legal to go in the air. To be legal to jump, it must have been inspected and packed within the past 180 days by a certificated rigger with the proper type rating. 19. or at least become a riglet and pack under supervision of.... Nope, there's no type rating required for mains. As for the under supervision packing, no longer legal to go in the air. 23. Pretty f'n close to the exact wording! ETA: Also, there's no 'appropriate rating' for packing mains... Just needs to be a certificated rigger. There was a DZ that I remember hearing about would put all of its packers thru a riggers course packing 20 chest packs (with no springs) and get them their chest ticket, so they can legally pack tandem mains. You do have to become a rigger to pack your own RESERVE parachute, though. 24. Even with all those body position induced line twists! I'll have your rig for ya by the weekend, ya still had 2 months left on that packjob, next time it would be more cost effective if you wait till its almost due before you chop it! Now that the main canopy has lived up to its reputation, you gonna sell it?
