  1. from what i understand the FAA TSO standard is only relevant to the US, but the USPA state that you can jump a rig that does not have FAA TSO rating as long as the rig is deemed safe to jump in your home country (which PISA's Teardrops are here in the UK) and that while in the US no other jumper uses your kit, so that way you can jump it out there. 2. There are no fatalities on Beyond Extreme. And, as we all know, the prime instigators in BE have matured into safe, cautious, conservative jumpers. Yes, they're feeling much better now! We may be a little unstable, but BASE folks do have ethics. . . Peace, D-d0g ddog@wrinko.com www.wrinko.com yeah i figured as much. But not really knowing much about BASE and seeing those really low openings i just wanted to make sure they were at least ok. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  3. I just watched it now - damn what a great video. However, there are 2 separate jumps that show jumpers who pull low and have like a 1/4 second parachute ride then hit the water - 1 seems like an intentional low off a cliff, the other seems unintentional off a bridge. Does anyone know if they were ok? I hope so - i really dont like the idea that perhaps im watching people die in a video that has been made to go on sale. Also, wtf is going on with that one clip where the guy seems to cut away while under canopy in the gorge? He seems to be at 90 degrees to the cliff face at first, then it shows him heading straight for it, then he seems to cut away and fall, but it fades away into the next scene - wtf is going on there? 5. hi - whats the best way to mount one. Im guessing just cut the plastic liner to the size of the protrack? Anyway can someone let me know before i butcher the thing with my saw and find out i've done it wrong? Thanks PS why does Bonehead not make them the right size for protracks/timeouts in the first place? "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  6. Whats the best method? If anyone could detail it, preferably with pics, i'd appreciate it. If not, just a good description will do. I just received my rig and want to practice PC throws, but dont know how to pack fully yet. Also, i read that packing the PC a certain way means that if a horse shoe occurs, there is a way to pack it whereby it will pull the PC free of the pocket. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this, and if so, how do you pack the PC so that it will be pulled free if the bag deploys? Thanks
  7. This is what he says: - - - - - - - - "3 - 2 - 1" (then he jumps and says) "But wait! I'm already at three?!" (this is a joke because in a static line skydiving student exits and counts to three and nothing happens you are in trouble, then he tries again) "3 - 2 - 1" *NO* "one thousand - two thousand - three thousand" (the thing is that you should not count "one, two, three ... it is more correct to use the 1000, 2000, 3000. then he pulls his PC and says) "ahhh, sometimes it is hard to get it right!" - - - - - - - - Thanks for the translation Per! 9. http://www.headdown.net/archive/movies/ff2002/baseforever.mov Who's the guy smoking the cigar? That shit is crazy! Also, does anyone know what he's saying when he goes off the cliff? I think it's Swedish? "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  10. Maybe it's because he hits a little too close to home for your average American. Yes, he can come across as a bit of a ranting loony lefty but he can sometimes speak a whole lot of sense and tell people things they don't want to hear... Gus thats about one of the best reasons i've heard, and to be honest, hadn't actually even considered. Thanks "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  11. by giving them more of our hard earned money....no thanks....typical democrat left leaning person....tax the rich give to the poor.....no thanks....I am NOT rich...but don't want to be giving my money away to people who have just as much opportunity that I had as a kid.... you're not rich, and neither is 90% of the US, but then you have 10% who's yearly earnings equate to the GDP of several large developed countries. Whats wrong with saying the super super rich (i.e not you or me or anyone on here by a long shot) and saying they should contribute more to society, than the rest of us? I dont think its as simple as "tax everyone more to give to the poor on welfare" i think its more about "we have some serious extremes going on, tax THOSE guys at the top more, to provide for people who are in dire need of medical attention and just can't afford it" Im no millionaire, but if i was and had to pay a few % more each year in taxes (i.e. i make $600,000 a year instead of $650,000) i don't honestly think i would give 2 hoots, as long as i knew that money was being appropriated well. 12. I think that about says it. Seriously....he just seems to be pretty far to the left. All about govt control, gun control, basically one of those people that thinks the govt can run my life better than I can. I ain't havin that.....there's been plenty of wars fought over that. Let's not have another. If you read his book Stupid White Men, you will see how he mocks the current "democratic" party system in the US (and no, not just the Republicans - he has/had problems with plenty of Democrats and their party too). To me he seems FAR from wanting an increase in govt control over the citizenship - he seems to be far more concerned with empowerment of the less well off sections of society (see: minorities, women, the poor). As far as gun control is concerned, i could be mistaken but isnt he more concerned with wanting to see an end to the number of gun-related homicides, and finding out a way to stop those, than the actual control of arms and their circulation? Like i said i could be wrong, but in Bowling for Columbine, he didn't once critise the Canadians due to their gun ownership levels, which i believe is fairly high too. 13. Can someone break it down for me? If possible, please back up statements like "because he's a left wing pinko liberal with an agenda" with a little more indepth opinion. I don't care if you love or hate him, but im intrigued to know why so many people despise him. Thanks "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  14. I saw a guy on the Jubilee line (between Finchley Road and Baker Street) last week wearing US Nationals t-shirt from Deland (when and how often have the Nationals been held at Deland) Indeed! It's against the law to talk to stangers on the tube unless your foreign or a tourist so I didn'. Humbug. Craig break the mould! It doesn't have to be like this! Next time you see someone with a skysurf board struggling to get into the sardine tin at Holborn, make sure you say hi! I'm going to endeavour to do the same. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  15. PLF you'd be fine - tourists and non Londoners can get away with it. It's only us locals that have to look away whenever someone casts a glance in our general direction "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  16. as i was walking down the aisle of the train this morning for the usual commute to work, something about this guys backpack catches my eye. I look down and see it's not a rig, which is what it looked like as i was moving down, but one of those made to look like a rig back packs, complete with reserve flap. I was pretty shocked, looking down and seeing it had some sort of World Accuracy wording, and struck up a conversation with the guy. Now normally, as most Londoners can atest to, talking to complete strangers on public transport is almost enough for you to be deemed to warrant psychological examination, but here i was chatting with the guy who was probably 20 years my senior, and a native Pole who had been here for 9 years. We talked about all sorts, obviously mainly jumping related, but not entirely. It was fantastic really, and for the first time, talking to a stranger on public transport in *GASP* London was not only natural, but genuinely interesting and engaging. I suddenly realised what it meant when, in my post a while back asking why people wear pin jewlerry, some of you had said so let other skydivers know you skydive - well, now i see why. I'm sure any avid sportsman or woman would have probably struck up a conversation with a stranger if they had recognised some sort of apparel from the shared sport, but, when we were talking about just having fun in the air and the feeling and sensation of freefall, both on the same level saying it's like nothing else out there - that's something i like to think is what's so unique about this sport and what makes it such a special thing, not just in what we can do up there, but in how it makes us down here. So watch out! You never know if that guy/girl sitting across from you on the bus, looking like Mr or Mrs Jones, is really, like you, looking out the window up to the heavens, PRAYING to someone -ANYone, for a break in the weather so they can hit the dz and get a taste of that sweet sweet cool air! Have a good weekend all! "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  17. I just ordered Beyond Extreme (thanks for the advice Tom) and Fixed 2, but i haven't actually ever seen any BASE specific vids - anyone got any recommends besides these 2? I prefer a professional looking production and interesting cinematography and diverse jumps to anything else (although i guess thats what everyone prefers?) Thanks "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  18. Why don't canopies get manufactured with some kind of tailgate, like on BASE canopies, to promote nose first inflation, and prevent line overs? I don't know much about BASE equipment, but reading some stuff, i figured something like that could be useful on a regular skydiving canopy. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  19. Thanks Tom, i can see both the photo upload and attachment "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts

  24. i just noticed a few of these, and hadn't really come across them before. Do they happen much? Man, that sounds like damn good value, especially in a Super King Air. I guess it must totally depend on the number of jumpers that turn up,and what jump plane is being used. Whats the most jumps anyone made on one of these, where/when was it and from what plane were you jumping? Also, does anyone know if they run these at any UK dzs or at Empuria or anything? Thanks "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts

I saw a copy in the dz shop but forgot to ask about it. Thanks "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
