  1. Of course this would be a sure fire way to ensure you're landing it and not deploying a parachute since you couldn't reach back and deploy one with your arms clicked in place :)
  2. here I've never met aggiedave, however I could totally see him in this story :) SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (AP) -- An 18-year-old former wrestler whose leg became pinned under his overturned Jeep managed to reach a car jack, ratchet up the vehicle and free himself. As college freshman Clancy Wright lay trapped last week, he said he thought of the climber whose arm had been pinned by a boulder last spring. "I didn't want to cut my leg off like the guy who cut off his arm," Wright said. Wright was driving alone October 2 at a popular off-road area near Minersville, about 200 miles south of Salt Lake City, when his Jeep rolled, pinning his left leg under a corner of the windshield and part of a roll bar. He was able to reach a jack in the vehicle. He said he tried three times to find the right placement for it under the roll bar. Wright, who wrestled as a heavyweight last year in high school and took fifth place in his division, eventually was able to lift the Jeep. "As the pressure released, I could feel the blood rush out of the leg," he told The Salt Lake Tribune in Thursday's editions. The skin, muscle and tissue in his left calf, from the knee to the ankle, was torn from his leg bones, which were completely exposed but not broken, he said. Wright said he wrapped the leg with his T-shirt, and a passing rider found him shortly afterward and summoned an ambulance. He underwent surgery and was sent home the next day. "They told me to go home, lay on the couch, put your foot up and pray," Wright said. Wright said he has feeling in his leg and can wiggle his toes. "Maybe this will slow him down a little," his father, Chris Wright, said. Climber Aron Ralston of Aspen, Colorado, was hiking alone in southeastern Utah on April 26 when his right arm became pinned beneath an 800-pound boulder. He freed himself on the fifth day by snapping his bones and using a knife to cut through his arm.
  3. I think this issue was discussed here once before and one of the members from RWS or some other rig mfg replied saying someone had done that to their rig and sent it in for some fix or something and they grounded the rig b/c of it..
  4. Good post, I've been thinking about writing one in reference to "flocking" i haven't gotton around to it, the big point though is treat flying a wingsuit like swooping. Don't make any radical "Pop ups" unless you KNOW where everyone is and you KNOW no one is above you. I've been hit before because I wasn't looking down and they weren't looking up before hauling ass up and got smacked, luckily I had a helmet on (which I rarely use)
  5. Well it's now yet another reason to look forward to my new S-3 arriving. Incidentally, I'll be pretty much all Aluminised Silver in the S-3. On occasion I jump my GTi into the center of Canberra (Australia's capital city). I reckon I'll show up on Canberra Approach radar in the new suit. Hahaha Blue Skies, fergs Ahh another space suit :) nice.
  6. Ah that's what i get for not reading everything :) flockon.
  7. There is a chance i'll be at the mardi gras boogie in march if you want to flock. Kevin
  8. where are the pics man??
  9. thanks on the grammer check it was late :)
  10. Ha.. you and I were thinking alike here is mine :) Kevin
  11. Just FYI in case you guys don't read incidents, an unfortunate accident happened this weekend - here
  12. Damn ! that sucks...
  13. My pouch is small and my 28 is very tight in there, so tight I had to figure out a different way to fold the PC as it wouldn't fit in there with a "normal" fold, had to make it long and thin and shove it up in there.. i'll take some pics this weekend of the whole system and do a writeup. Kevin
  14. Took pics of the assembly process and will write a little thingy up for here and stuff. At the DZ and forgot to bring the camera to pull the images down, but I'll do that on Monday. I use it for EVERY jump.. i was surprised that BM didn't have any info on the system and how to install the shrivel flap, I went back and forth with Robert (from birdman) via email trying to make sure my rigger was doing it right.. what kind of stitch how far down, etc.. i'll have to dig up the emails and take some pics for ya but yeah.. I use it for EVERY jump.. *HOWEVER* if you plan on doing a bunch of aerobatics (a lot of back flying) I highly recommend you use the BOC. Barrel Rolls are okay, but if you're exposing a lot of air to the pouch it's a little risky in my opinion.
  15. Hey I was looking over maxim and they are looking for a "hot smoke jumper" for a full page in the magazine.. i wonder if they'll settle for a "hot skydiver" -- email 'em, workinggirl@maximmag.com
  16. Hence the "didn't work" conclusion came about :) coolness
  17. I'd check out this greaet article from howstuff works.com, it's how i learned to skydive! (ok that's a joke, talk to an instructor - though this article may answer some questions)
  18. what the hell is a flying rabbit? and I came up with an idea for vents on both side of the wing with air locks so when you flip over it locks the top vent and opens the bottom.. talked to robert from birdman about it and his was response "oh yeah we already tried that, didn't work too well - jari has the suit" :)
  19. Damn if I still lived in MS i'd be over there in a jiffy.. sorry :)
  20. yeah i've been thinking of some type of skeleton that would go on before the suit to help your arms keep the correct position, only problem is designing something that is failproof so your arms don't get locked in position where you can't pull :) Something like this would be required if the wings get much bigger than they are now, or another way of looking at it - something like this would allow for larger wings :)
  21. Haha.. glad to hear someone else is using it, ever since I got my s3 i've been using it, i love it. Though mine was made too small so i've had to get creative on how to fold the PC Kevin
  22. Humm.. was curious where BM came up with the 70 - 90 mph forward speeds. I did 3 jumps with this GPS setup that i'm testing, only 1 was successful (technical glitches on the other 2) but on the 1 that was successful it said my forward speed was around 115 - 120 MPH. Does that sound right? Will upload a pic later.
