  1. Congrats! Can't wait till you come back from over on the other side of the world so we can fly some more!
  2. Yeah i've flown very close to tandems as well, both parties enjoyed it.. and I had full confidence that it was safe. We talked about it planned it and I wasn't so close that I would hit the person if I looked away or something. They could easily hear me both vocally and "naturally" as I flew by..... I've never been swooped super close myself though that would be neat. The BSR as i understand it is for "students" including tandems.. but does not apply to experienced jumpers. Kevin
  3. I haven't seen it, call USPA and ask them I guess...
  4. I was told recently by a USPA rep that a new BSR is in place with respect to this, and it has been stated in the BSR (which I havent read yet) it is a violation to buzz tandems. just FYI
  5. My most awesome jump was also my first balloon, wingsuit of course. In eloy, from 5k feet fucking awesome.. had groundzero with me Kevin
  6. Yeah I've been thinking about this for a while, have actually peaked the interest of a demo team which does most of the major airshows... just don't have many people close by to train with to get a routine down.. Don't forget to add large amounts of smoke to the mix :) Kevin
  7. Lately? No not really.. i have 3 total, 2 on a wingsuit and all within one month of each other. 1 of the 2 on the wingsuits was a pilot chute in tow due to a misrouted bridle being missed on a gear check, the other was a spinner due to improper bag orientation ( trying to HELP with line twists by trying something different, and it didn't work ) Ended up getting my rig modded to solve the line twists issues. Kevin
  8. check this hot air balloon gondala out.. would be nice for skydiving! No more hopping up and over, just walk off
  9. I am pretty sure I heard Jari say he had some suits with over 1000 jumps on them when I asked the same question early on in my WS career. Just like anything else, you take care of it & it'll last a long time. Kevin
  10. Best way I've found to learn is to get barrel rolling down.. then the next step is to do a half barrel roll but keep your wings closed (all wings closed) so you're on your back falling, then gradually open up all your wings symmetrically..
  11. I heard it was a hummer 1.. minor detail but that H1 doesn't have airbags..
  12. Do you have one of the conceptious switches ? They do make ones with stereo connections - would that fit in there or not?
  13. Hey ffejdraga, I haven't modded mine yet b/c I was waiting on someone else to do it and post the results... what switch are you using if the conceptus doesn't work? BTW what lens are you using ? Kevin
  14. Once you get the harbortronics mod done to it, it'll accept the popular tounge / bite switches.
  15. Actually no, I have found it easy in my gti to get into a flat spin and hard to get out of it. I believe SM1 confirmed this when I was putting together the malfunctions section on FBM
  16. I thought the phenomonom of a "naturally occuring" flat spin only occured on one's back.. Is this not true, anyone? Kevin
  17. July 06, 2004 THE owner of a Victorian parachute club where British skydiver Clare Barnes plummeted to her death was placed on a 12 month bond today after pleading guilty to 21 safety breaches. Luke McWilliam, owner of Skydive City Club at Barwon Heads in Victoria's south-west, also was ordered to donate $10,000 to a local hospital. The safety breaches were not related to the death of club member Ms Barnes, 24, who was the daughter of British Minister for Europe Denis MacShane and journalist Carol Barnes. Mr McWilliam pleaded guilty today to the breaches during a hearing at Geelong's Magistrates Court, despite previously denying all allegations. Mr McWilliam, 36, of Barwon Heads Road, Connewarre, had changed his plea to avoid a costly and lengthy trial, his lawyer John Maitland said after the hearing. The court was told that, in a raid on the club Civil Aviation Safety Authority, investigators had seized 20 videos which showed skydivers jumping through cloud on 20 occasions dating back to May, 2003. The other charge, in relation to the modification of an aircraft, arose when investigators saw on the videos that a toilet roll holder had been attached to the outside of a plane with gaffer tape. Mr Maitland told the court the toilet roll holder was used as a marker for skydivers to see whether it was in the right position before a proper handle was fitted to the aircraft. "This matter is definitely a one-off," Mr Maitland told the court. Over the past seven years, more than 20,000 jumps had been made safely at the club, which employed 25 people and was one of the biggest in the country. There had been only one fatal accident at the site, the court was told. The death of Ms Barnes in a jumping mishap in March was not related to Mr McWilliam or the club, the court was told. Magistrate Terry Wilson put the married father of two on a 12 month, $5000 bond, ordering him to pay $600 costs and to make a $10,000 donation to Geelong Hospital with no tax deductions. No conviction was recorded, but Mr Wilson warned Mr McWilliam he had an obligation to ensure the safety of skydivers at his club. He said if Mr McWilliam appeared before the court on similar charges in the next 12 months, he would be ordered to pay $5000 as part of his bond order. "Provisions do exist in respect to people jumping through cloud," he said. "Now you've come under notice you must be especially careful you don't breach that requirement. The obligation is there for safety. "Your obligation is to ensure the safety of students is paramount." After the hearing, Mr Maitland said going to trial would have cost more than the fines imposed if found guilty of the safety breaches. He said his client decided to dispose of all the matters today in a bid to avoid a lengthy and costly trial.
  18. Are you talking about on your belly or on your back?
  19. Yes, but read what deuce said. The S3 (and i can't compare it to an s-fly as I haven't jumped one) is a much larger suit than anything you've jumped so far.. your arms will be worn out easier, the suit will "fly you" the first few jumps until you learn how to fly it. Make sure to do plenty of practice pulls so you know what to expect. It is critical on this suit to make sure you throw out "violently" to clear the larger burble on your back. The key to remember about this suit is it is more sensitive.. so don't do any radical turns, etc.. I had the feelings deuce is talking about when I first started jumping birdman, but didn't really have them with the s3.. so your milage may vary.
  20. I think this has been discussed before, but cause i'm lazy i'll answer it again. I would say 20 - 30 GTI jumps and you'd be able to fly an S3 safely. You have to take into consideration the fact that the S3 wing will cover your BOC/Hackey so you need to start from the middle of your BOC and feel your way out to your hackey. Be calm, and start your deployment high.
  21. Oh you got one of the million dollar sweepstakes pringles! I hope you didn't eat that one!
  22. Ah wow.. i wonder if I was the first to do that glowstick thing .. hehe :) anyway, looks like after a quick search I haven't done it on FBM or it isn't there now.. here is the link to the original post here about it. Got a lot of updating to do on FBM :( Kevin
  23. ??? If you read back about the D70 it does not have a remote shutter release.. you have to have one installed by a 3rd party (harbortronics). This voids your warranty. Ray was talking about getting the IR remote modded for a remote shutter release cable by the same company, thus not voiding his cameras warranty.. but since he doesn't have the camera yet he hasn't had to worry about it yet :)
