  1. How about reparations to the slave owners' families for being stripped of the properties that they purchased legally, once slavery was abolished? How about reparations for more recent wrong-doings like the victims of japanese internment camps during WWII? Fact is our history is full of misdeeds in which we took advantage of one or more groups of people. Our railways were built on the backs of several different groups of people who were taken advantage of, shall we repay them as well. Once you start where do you stop?
  2. Racism is alive and thriving in the South. It permeates everything and comes from both sides of the great divide. I am a New England transplant and find it extremely uncomfortable living here. My choice would be to move back north but my family doesn't care for the winters in New England, so I try to put up with it as best I can. There is a constant palpable tension in the air that is absolutely stifling. Don't see it getting better any time soon.
  3. Be particular - "Be careful" Feelin Puny - "sick, under the weather" Plug it up - "plug it in" Sittin in the floor - "Sitting on the floor" Hose pipe - "water faucet" Snakes in her head - "crazy as shit" Podunk - "middle of no-where, small-town"
  4. Psst...we're not allowed to say anything negative yet. ________________________________________________ I thought the first 100 days had passed, insn't he fair game now?
  5. I'm not reading it that way. He is simply trying to put Pelosi's feet to the fire that she herself is fanning over the "torture" techniques that were used by the Bush administration. Since the administration has already admitted to using these techniques and is simply arguing that they should not be considered torture, I don't think Rove can be seen as selling them out. Just my .02
  6. Love Actually Great Soundtrack too!
  7. A bloke and his wife are walking around the supermarket and he throws a 12 pack of Stella costing £12 into the trolley .... his wife takes it out again and says that they need to cut back as they can't afford it..... Further around the shop, the lady puts a £30 jar of face cream in the trolley. The guy looks at her and ask how they can afford that but not the beer ... She's says "Well it makes me look beautiful to you" ... The bloke fires back "Well, so does the Beer!!" __________________________________________________ Funny! and on that note . . . I took my wife to a restaurant. The waiter, for some reason, took my order first. "I'll have the strip steak, medium rare, please." He said, "Aren't you worried about the mad cow?" "Nah, she can order for herself." And then the fight started.....
  8. How far do you have to go to be accredited as a Green home? There is so much you can do to improve the home's Green-ness, so where do they draw the line? You could go totally Solar but that would cost as much as 80K for an average home from what little I've read. Cistern for rainwater collection, Sprayfoam insulation, High E windows, Geo-thermal heating/air conditioning, plus all the stuff they make from recycled goods like countertops. I would love to do all of these things but it would take the cost of a home far and above what an average homebuyer could afford.

  11. you can't make any kind of broad-reaching conclusions over a study with only 80 subjects in it. Any study of value would have to add a couple zeros to that number. But just in case I'm getting my tattoos lasered off and have a nice barely used 9mm handgun for sale if anyone's interested
  12. Wonder where they found these 48 people with low self esteem?? A psychiatrists office?? Jenny Craig?? ________________________________________________ Plastic surgeons office trying to get thier tattoos removed with a laser?
