many of the circumstances that would lead to enforcement against the pilot could/would also bring action down on the jumpers. one does not need certification to be reprimanded.
what if you jump a baser from a plane, is it a baser jump? i think that comment gos with another thread.
oh and don't forget.... 14CFR105 clearly states if your main has been sitting packed for more than 180 and you jump it, you have just broken the law, and according to many on this board, put the pilot at grave risk of losing his license.
is it safe to jump a sabre 170 that has sit for 6 months? i believe so, however it is as ILLEGAL as jumping a single parachute system.
we all have rules we are comfortable breaking, lets just break the ones we want to and let others do the same (so long as it doesn't put persons or property at risk - which by the way is the spirit most aviation regs are written in, that or blood)
oh and i didn't have a dropzone user name and the ones from basejumper don't work (not sure why, they are both GOP)
