The girls at the airport all bring a dish in on sundays for lunch and one of them got me involved with it. (hey, if I kiss ass it at least looks good in a tight skirt). Now they take up money for ingredients and tell me what they want and I make it the best I can. Im slowly learning how to cook and noone has gotten sick yet.

Sounds good to me. Whats works for others isnt always for everyone and I respect your choice of not drinking. When people offer you a drink, just say "no thankyou". After a while they will realize that you simply dont drink alcohol and that will be the end of that.

I thought the basic food groups were, sugar, salt, fat, and booze.

If you want to learn more about military jumping, get your hands on a copy of FM 57-220. It was our "bible" in jumpmaster school. Alot of good info. Alot has changed in the past few years with military jumping. static line stowing, (pack trays have been modified), reserve parachutes have changed, (gone to the MIRPS), exit procedures ect.... theres more stows for the static line on the standard MC1-1/T-10 pack tray, the MIRPS (Modified Improved Reserve Parachute System) has eliminated the down and away method of reserve deployment and now exit procedures have changed. On a C130 it used to be "up and out" now its a 45degree angle like on a C141 exit. FM 57-220 will give the the latest and greatest information. Ask a jumpmaster in your unit for a copy. They should be able to get you one and answer any questions you may have.

I'm a diehard military jumper. I currently work for an airiline as an A&P line maint tech. I'm not here to advertise so I will leave it at that. The thing is my home DZ has a single Cessna and like a lot of folks, its a gamble if or not you will get to jump because of students Don"t get me wrong, I love students. Makes me feel useful and at the same time, keeps my mind in a training mode. I want to hook up with people around the Houston area and make some jumps. I can fly there and back anytime i want, someone please let me know whats happening down that way. thanks, jeff.

Damit jtval!!! You just made me change my christmas wishlist.

I used to jump T-10s' and MC1-1s' static line at 800' on a regular basis with the military, but the norm was 1250' for fixed wing and 1500' for a rotor wing. As silly as it sounds, I like jumping rounds, combat equipment at night. It's an awsome feeling. I'm a rigger in the reserves now, so most of my military jumps are daytime, but as long as the govt is providing, I'm not bitching.

Guiness Extra Stout or Crown Royal. Not mixed together of course, that would be silly, or would it?

One of the worst that comes to mind (that I can remember and police wasnt involved) My parents divorced and my father had me for the weekend, I was about 7yrs old I think. Well he thought it would be funny to take me back too my mom drunk, he gave me a bottle of wine a before taking me home. I didnt know any better, so I chugged it like anything else. Cartoons and wine, life was great for a little while.

I'm not sure if its true or not, but I was told that Mel Brooks actually went to school to be an A&P mechanic. Not sure if its a fact and if so if he ever finished. Anyone else ever hear this? Im curious?

Check your local newspaper or yardsales. Honestly, an old class 15 home machine should work fine unless you plan on doing some serious manufacturing. I picked one up for $5 and cleaned it up, set the timing. I use E thread/69 in mine and never had any problems with it. After WWII Japan built these things and companies imported them under alot of different names Mine is a "Dressmaker". I even used it to sew aileron curtains to protect the actuators for a DC-8 airplane and it worked just fine for it, they are not pretty or have the big industrial motor or table, but for what they are, you cant get a better deal. Just my opinion.

Thanks for the info and links to the discussion of this earlier. Thinking about this now, I think I will try them, I sometimes have a hard time reaching my slider to collapse it because I'm a small person. (Short arms, type 8 risers, bumpers). I've worn my chest strap as loose as I feel comfortable/safe doing and still struggle to reach it sometimes. I think that going with type 17 risers and slinks, it should come down within easy reach for me.

Any pros or cons with using slinks? Has anyone every had any problems with them? I'm thinking about installing them when my new container gets here and I would like some feedback. Thanks.
