  1. Some of them were saying that before this final trip.
  2. I don't see it happening any time soon. As was pointed out, he has LOTS of well trained and well armed bodyguards. I don't think anyone with 'evil intent' can get anywhere near him. I wonder if 'exiling' him to Belarus is part of having him take over from Lushenko. Lukashenko ended up in the hospital, seriously ill. There's been a fair amount of speculation he was poisoned. Perhaps Putin has decided it's time for a change there?
  3. Well, they're dead. As the story progressed, it was released that the US Navy had recorded sounds 'consistent with hull failure and implosion of the submersible' at the time comms were lost. ROV units found a couple of debris fields, with various parts of it scattered about. Lots and lots of questions being asked. The more that gets revealed, the sketchier this looks. Apparently there was a father and son who had seats on the last trip, but they backed out due to concerns about the safety (turns out they were right). It turns out that many of the claims made about the design and testing were not true. They claimed that Boeing and the University of Washington had helped develop it. Turned out to not be true. They claimed that Lloyd's of London had 'validated a dive', which means they just observed the operation and said it happened. Lloyd's declined to certify the vessel. If the guy in charge hadn't been on it and died, there's a fair amount of speculation that he'd be facing potential criminal charges.
  4. "Adventure Tourism" is a pretty big thing. You can hire guides to take you to the top of Everest. You can (or should be able to soon) fly to outer space on a rocket. You can make skydives from incredible heights. All with little or no experience and minimal training. It just takes cash (and quite a bit of it in some cases). Sometimes it doesn't go the way it's supposed to. The multiple deaths on Everest in 1996 (as told in the book 'Into Thin Air') are a good example. It's looking like there's going to be another one. On Sunday (6-18) a private sub went down to the wreck of the Titanic. It lost communication after about an hour and 45 minutes into a planned descent of 2 hours. There's a lot of speculation about what could have happened. It's said they have enough oxygen on board to survive for less than 20 hours at this point (1300 CST on the 21st). As the story unfolds, there are starting to be quite a few questions raised about the safety of the vessel. And the certification of it (or lack of). And how the company responded to questions about those things (including firing someone who asked them). There are also a lot of stories about difficulties the company has had on previous missions. This sort of expedition is always risky. But most of the serious 'deep sea submersibles' are government funded, properly certified, and used for actual research, not tourist trips. Personally, I don't think the people are going to come out alive, even though the rescue people have recorded 'banging' noises from underwater. Even if they are still alive, getting something that can go down that deep, getting down to them, finding them down there and retrieving them is going to be VERY difficult. 5. Those same sorts of people will gladly hurt themselves as long as it hurts other people more. You know... Morons.
  6. The car was a wedding present from his dad for his first marriage (she later died). Not sure what you mean by the 'corvette files'. There was some paperwork found in a storage area in the same garage. A few of the documents had classified markings on them. The point was made that there is a rather valuable car in that same garage (mid five figures). The files weren't sitting in a bathroom next to the toilet. Both Biden and Pence made all the proper notifications and returned everything immediately upon discovery. While less than ideal, neither committed a crime.
  7. Very true. I have no clue what his game plan is. I have no ability to determine if his plan is viable or a pipe dream. I DO have a decent amount of faith that he knows what he's doing and has a pretty good chance of getting a conviction. But nothing is certain.
  8. Came across this elsewhere: After the indictment, Trump led his supporters to a bakery. He promised 'food for everyone'. But then left. Nobody got anything. Why am I not in any way surprised? https://www.salon.com/2023/06/15/promised-food-for-everyone-at-versailles--but-it-turns-out-no-one-got-anything-report/?fbclid=IwAR3hjlXl50aBm6oUP0ptKnC_TFYToGuMnAVtU9CUwnQ_5mUmvauUpxwEX1c
  9. Something I don't see mentioned is how experienced Jack Smith is. He knows what he's doing. While this is the highest profile case he's ever done, this isn't the first high profile case he's prosecuted. If anyone thinks he's not aware of the 'judge issues', they're kidding themselves. If anyone thinks he doesn't have a plan to deal with those issues, and a plan he believes will work, they really need to rethink that. https://www.npr.org/2023/06/09/1181412650/jack-smith-special-counsel-classified-documents-case-trump
  10. Well, apparently it's similar enough that some states are passing legislation to 'protect' the people that want those 'natural women' to come in first. Those same places are passing laws that deny care to minors.
  11. Well, to be fair, every controversial decision 'damages' one party for the benefit of the other. For example, the abortion debate is over the benefits to the fetus or to the mother. The 'funny' part is that conservatives seem to enjoy doing damage to the people they don't like. Minorities, LGBTQ, 'liberals', women.
  12. The problem is that those types of people aren't being ignored. They're being actively discriminated against. They're being denied care. And it's costing lives.
  13. Well, that's not what he meant. He just wanted people who worship the SAME GOD as he does to be able to discriminate against the 'heathens' and 'sinners'. Almost exactly the same as those bigots who want to see the Ten Commandments displayed in schools and courthouses get all butt-hurt when the Satanists want an equivalent display.
  14. It's not the first time it's happened, either. I did a quick search that came up empty, but there was a fuel tanker crash/fire that caused a bridge collapse in Providence RI a while back (10 years?). It shut down part of I-295 for a while, and big trucks were prohibited on the damaged section for a couple of years.
  15. Absolutely amazing how easily the hate overcomes and ignores reality and science.
  16. Meh. Everyone knows TK is a "Commie" who wants to see America destroyed. He even let Fidel ride his sled. (just in case, this is sarcasm - except for the Castro on the sled part)
  17. Interesting thought (not mine, I came across it elsewhere): The DOJ policy about Indicting the President is just that. Indictment. Issuing charges. Not trial, not conviction, not imprisonment. In no way, shape or form is it 'immunity', as tRump seems to want it to be. Since tRump is no longer President, the indictments are within that policy (as would be any more that come out). So, as long as he's been indicted, he should still have to stand trial, be sentenced if found guilty and serve that sentence, even if he could possibly win the 2024 election. No. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Very different concept. The presumption of innocence means he can be released on bail. He can appear in court in normal clothing, not the bright orange prison jumpsuit. He is officially addressed as 'the accused' or 'the defendant' instead of 'the criminal' or 'the spy'. Most importantly, the prosecution has to prove his guilt. He doesn't have to prove his innocence (that part is the 'presumption')
  18. Who, other than the Trumpanzee morons, are suggesting THAT? The idea that because he used to have a particular job (that he was fired from) should exempt him from consequences for breaking the law (and some rather serious laws at that) is utter bullshit. If he did what he's accused of (and it sure seems like he did), he needs to suffer the consequences. The idea that ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL basically says that no one is above the law. The DOJ policy that an unimpeached President cannot be indicted is abhorrent. There are quite a few high ranking government folks that have gone to prison (State Governors, Congressional Representatives, ect). Pretending that the President is different is just flat out wrong.
  19. It's a pretty poor quality image, but I see all of the turrets in place, nothing on fire, no big holes. I'm thinking they aren't 'destroyed' or 'in pieces'. But misleading posts and misinterpreted pictures are par for the course from 'some folks'.
  20. Putler will have to beg the RVC for peace in Russia. He has no way of stopping them from marching (or driving) to Moscow.
  21. They just want to have something to 'fight back' against the idea that tRump is going to prison. They will latch onto ANYTHING that discredits Biden. Classic 'what about-ism'.
  22. Well, I came across the basis for the accusation of Biden taking a bribe. Trump's own DOJ stooges decided it wasn't 'supported by facts'. Heather Cox Richardson yesterday. https://www.facebook.com/heathercoxrichardson
  23. Well, Bobo is pretty good proof that failure to properly educated kids on sex and reproduction has consequences. She's going to be a grandmother at 36. And since you are so adamant about 'proof', where's the proof that Biden took any money? Where is there even a valid story about it (RT and Fox don't count)?
  24. Both of you are pretty blatantly ignoring the fact that the main groups that want to ban all abortions also want to ban birth control and sex education. It's a lot harder to 'not become pregnant' when the means and knowledge to prevent it are highly restricted.
