Six ways renewables increase your electricity bill

You keep engaging him. -
Apparently, the hearing Slim watched was not the same one everyone else did. A couple 'whistleblower' witnesses said flat out that there's not evidence to impeach. Or, the Rs just lied. I'm reminded of the old joke: A witness in court is sworn in. When asked to 'tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth', he points at the prosecutor and the defense attorney and says "I will if they will". And, despite their absolute fervor to nail ANYONE named "Biden" for ANYTHING... They aren't willing to step on up and insist on 'equal treatment under the law'... If it includes Trump. Quotes from Heather Cox Richardson, Sept 29 post. https://www.facebook.com/heathercoxrichardson

He also does a very fine job of creating an argument that nobody actually makes.

I'm probably being optimistic, but this sham 'impeachment' circus could be rather damaging for the Rs. Any Rs that vote for it are going to have a tough go in the general election. While the Trumpette morons will vote for them, most independents and quite a few Rs will look at what they did and vote the other way. And Rs that vote against the impeachment are going to get 'primaried' by Trumpette morons. They'll put a 'MAGA' candidate in. Who will then likely lose in the general election, just like so many of them did in the last couple general elections.
-
Well, don't forget the hatchet job by the FBI Director a couple weeks before the election.
-
Hi Jerry, Or paying any attention to Joe Biden for the past 20 or 30 years. He's got a stutter. Totally in line with their 'supreme leader', the Trumpettes mock and belittle him for it. Pretend it's a sign of senility. But compare & contrast his speaking with stuff he said 20 years ago. THEN compare Trump today with Trump 20 years ago. Tell me Trump hasn't declined. A LOT. Don't forget, Trump was given a preliminary test for Alzheimer's. Because HIS OWN PEOPLE ordered it.
-
I'd bet it will be very similar to the Devon Archer testimony. He testified behind closed doors. The Rs spread all sorts of rumours about how damaging the testimony was for the Bidens. A variety of people said (more or less): "That's NOT what he said". So the Rs (finally) released the transcripts. Which revealed the Rs were lying through their teeth about the Bidens. You know, like usual.
-
Yup. How much do you want to bet that the Rs in charge of Alabama are just going to ignore the Supreme Court... Again.

Post trump Legal Actions, Including his Enablers

Hi Jerry, Funny how NONE of Trump's stooges was willing to state that in an environment where the truth was required. You know, like a legal filing, or testimony under oath. -
The workers gave up quite a lot back during the financial crisis back in the 'late zeroes'. The execs claimed it was necessary to keep the companies afloat. Whether that was true or not is irrelevant. The fact that: 1 - the car companies have posted record profits in the past few years 2 - executive compensation has risen by something like 36%, while 'regular workers' have seen basically nothing (which is a 'real life' pay CUT once inflation is factored in). is a pretty good indication that the grievances from the unions have some merit.

Hi Jerry, I would think a farrier would look at the wheels & tires and think about repair of those. Keep in mind that a 'mechanic' fixes a lot more than just the engine.
-
"Who is going to fix all of those?" It would mean a completely different set of skills & tools, but the basic mentality would be similar. I have no clue how many farriers (people who take care of horse's hooves and shoes) ended up becoming car mechanics. It would be interesting to find out.
-
Well, the Afghan debacle was Trump's fault. He actually did a really good job of leaving Biden a situation that was not fixable. And a huge mess. And the US has been doing that for a LOOOOOOOONG time. Long before Viet Nam.
-
Well, algebra has math(s) in it, but it's really abstract thinking and logical reasoning.
-
Let them eat cake? I've seen it claimed that the income inequality in the US right now is very similar to that of France, right before the revolution. I wouldn't mind seeing the Koch bros, the Waltons, Harlan Crow and a lot of others end up facing the guillotine.

Pies (in the face of the 'awarded' jumper) are something 'bestowed' for milestone jumps. 100, 500, 1000 and subsequent 'triple zero' jumps. If (when) you end up under your reserve, you owe the rigger who packed that reserve a bottle of his choice. That can also be used for other notable 'saves'. I remember Rook presenting Pilot Dave with a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue for not breaking the Caravan. And, of course, beer. In short, accomplishing a 'first' means you buy a case of beer to share out. It's a lot deeper than thirsty jumpers mooching beer off the new guy (or girl). The basic concept is that as you are sharing out the beer for whatever 'first' you have accomplished, the experienced jumpers share stories of their notable firsts. Its a really good way to learn a lot of useful stuff, and its a good way to get to know the people you will be spending a LOT of time with. That far north, the sun doesn't set in the summer. According to google that's from April 20th and August 22nd. Of course, the sun doesn't rise for an equal period of time during the winter.

As a regular on a couple car forums, I have to say: Yeah, that ain't gonna buff out. One article on the results of the attack: https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/russian-submarine-shows-massive-damage-after-ukrainian-strike Gotta love the statement that "this is an ex-submarine'. I have to wonder how much the Russians are going to 'finish' destroying it before the Ukrainians show up. Not sure how much intelligence info the "West" needs on an obsolete diesel/electric sub, but I'm sure they'd love the chance to get a close look at it.
-
From the Elon Musk thread: The Ukrainian MoD released a statement about this attack. 10 missiles were launched, 7 were shot down. The 3 that made it through did considerable damage. The Kilo-class sub and the amphibious landing ship Minsk were in the dry-dock and along with the dry-dock, were badly damaged*. Depending on where in the repair process they were, both vessels are somewhere between 'badly damaged' and 'totally fucked'. In any case, given the Russian ability to do ANYTHING, those ships AND the repair facility is going to be out of commission for a while. Probably a long while. Given that Sevastopol is the only large scale repair facility in the Black Sea, the Russian navy is in big(er) trouble. 10 Storm Shadows is a lot, but the results speak for themselves. Also, Ukrainian Special Forces took back 2 oil platforms. Despite Russian claims that all the attacking boats were sunk, and all the soldiers killed, they managed to take control of both. This deprives the Russians of a significant surveillance capability. And of a lot of rather expensive gear. Combined with the Ukrainians doing lots of damage to the Russian anti-aircraft systems across the Crimean peninsula, the ability to take out MORE Russian assets is growing. * - The damage to the repair facilities is huge. Many historians believe that the biggest failure of the Japanese at Pearl Harbor was not destroying the dry-dock facilities. It allowed the US to get most of the damaged ships back in service fairly quickly. Much faster than if they would have had to be repaired in California.

Yeah, he also seems to ignore the very simple fact that "Hurricane Season" usually (like almost always) starts off slow, then picks up in September & October. So all of his "THERE"S NO HURRICANES!!!!!!" shit early on is far more of a 'Sure, not YET,"
