  1. 1) The way the hook part of the Skyhook is positioned, it shouldn't snag 2) If the reserve bridle is through another jumper's lines, etc, then the reserve PC will probably snag anyway, regardless if there is a Skyhook on the bridle or not. 3) If the CReW jumper fires their reserve into someone else's canopy, then they missed the point of disconnecting the RSL for CReW in the first place.   2. The RSL shackle. Disconnecting the Skyhook RSL is the same as disconnecting the RSL on any other rig. If you want to do CReW with a Skyhook-equipped Vector III/Micron and don't want the RSL/Skyhook to work, simply disconnect the RSL shackles as you would on any other rig. The reserve will work as any other rig would with a disconnected RSL, as if it wasn't there. Derek

  5. Contact the local FSDO, but according to the FAA, SB's are not mandatory (Capewell and Sunpath harness SB's are examples of this), only AD's are. Just like aircraft SB's and AD's. Some people say SB's are "Manufacturer's Instructions" and therefore are mandatory, but the FAA says they are not mandatory. In the SAID's the FAA released for both the Capewell and Sunpath harness SB's, they specifically state they are NOT mandatory. Again, call your local FSDO for clarification. Derek
  6. The canopies are close. The diferences are just prefences. Toggle pressure, turn rate, etc. Ir eally like not having any brake settings on the Icarus. Releasing the brakes on Sigmas can be 'troublesome'. I always got them released though. Derek
  7. True, but I have a bunch of jumps on Icarus and the openings were fine. I don't know of any instances either, but witht he lighter lines, it decreases the risk (and the proper stow bands & size like you mentioned). Derek
  8. Less bulk, less weight, less chance of bag strip. Downside they don't last as long as Dacron. Derek
  9. For the price, the Sigma is hard to beat. It may cost more up front, but is cheaper to maintain. It is a much nicer rig. If I was buying tandem rigs, I'd buy Sigmas w/ PD-R's and Icarus mains. I might put PD's Sigma mains in them if they lined them w/ Vectran. Derek
  10. Me too. Must be the cost of living in TN. All kidding aside, you won't make much rigging. If you get into rigging for the $, you'll either be disappointed or spend very little time on each rig to make more $ per rig. Don't do that. Derek

  12. Was the main still packed? I've seen this cause the PC's launch to be less than with the main removed. I've seen Wings PC's fall to the jumper's feet and launch to the end of the bridle. It depends on the reserve/container size and how the reserve was packed. Derek

  15. Because aircraft must be maintained according to the manufacturers instruction, but SB's don't have to be complied with. Ask the FAA is you don't believe me. SB's are not mandatory, AD's are. Derek
  16. I am well aware that the FAA doesn't bother with parachute gear AD's anymore. That doesn't make SB's mandatory. 1) SB's are not manufacturer's instructions. 2) I agree that most SB's make sense and should be done, but the Mirage SB for example, I won't do to Kelli's rig. Bottom line is AD's are mandatory, SB's are not (in the U.S.) Derek

  19. I *think* for runway over-runs. Air Force runways have arresting cables to prevent the aircraft from going off the end of the runway. Heavily loaded fighter use a lot of runway. Derek

  21. I've heard of Vector II tandem rigs being modified and used as solo rigs. Beyond that, I dunno. Derek
  22. A PC needs enough drag to pull the pin and lift the bag. Unless it's too big a ZP PC doesn't pull too hard. It will shrink, but is easy to lengthen or replace. Kevlar is OK, but not as resistant to wear. 6, 1/2 dozen. ZP lasts longer and is more consistant over it's life span. Derek
