In a meeting yesterday the phrase “beer countries” was interjected. I’ve heard this many times over the years and those that do European cross-border deals understand that the reference to beer drinking countries infers the UK, Germany, Netherlands and Nordic countries as opposed to “wine countries” which are France, Belgium, Italy, Spain etc. The reasoning behind this is that “beer” countries generally have better legal protections and enforcement in business dealings. This is usually mentioned in a business discussion from a generalist or guidance point, but in my discussion yesterday we discussed a Benelux deal (refers to Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg) and he followed by saying “we’ll do a Benelux deal, but to be clear we’ll look at a Dutch deal, but not a Belgian deal. Thinking further; this simple “beer” vs. “wine” country classification is quite simplistic, but damn “spot on” in most instances when applied globally (other examples: US is a beer country; Argentina is a wine country; where do you want to enter into a business deal?) Airlines have had child/infant seatbelt extensions for decades (but apparently not on North American carriers, as I just Googled and found out). Aside from the airline supplied belts, there is also: www.babybair.com We used one of these for both commercial flights and flights in our helicopter until my sons were 2yrs old (EASA & CAA compliant). Always had to give some extra info to the Tower after saying "5 POB" when I was making the radio call from a 4-seat helicopter. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"

Great news source; I see they are proponents of Donald Trump. From the quality of your posts, I think we already see results of mercury levels in the water. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"

Also a Rush fan. Remember, my first concert was seeing Rush at Hampton Roads Coliseum, Virginia back in early 80’s. Oddly my son (who is only 7yr old) was recently going through some of my music and I found it interesting in what he liked or didn’t like. His favourite was Rush; I thought it odd that a young English prep-school boy (not knowing anything about them or even the time era) picked Rush out to the hundreds of old ripped CDs I have my computer - he's obviously got a keen "ear". So did I. I had no idea that ring sizes are different for left/right hands. I sneaked one of my wife's rings (right hand) out of the house as a size guide; only to ultimately find out it was larger than her left hand - so engagement ring was too large and had to be resized. For a given budget, first decide on colour and clarity, then within your budget buy the largest size. Don’t just buy the biggest one found for your budget. Go for quality. Below some info on diamond grading: http://www.gemologyonline.com/diamondgrading.html When I bought over 16yrs ago, I did quite a lot of research. I also had the ability to travel to South Africa, Antwerp, NY if required. The end result is that I didn’t buy from a retailer at all. I found a diamond dealer and bought the stone “loose” and then he sent it to jeweller to have it set in a band (process just took a few days). I ended up paying about 45% of what full retail would have been. Living in London, diamond dealers may be more easily found than your area, but definitely worth looking into buying a loose stone form a dealer. You could easily get a near $10,000 diamond for your $5,000. Ask for GIA certificate on the stone. Also note that "brilliant" cut (traditional cut) is both timeless and also give you the most "bang for your buck" as it reflects the most light back up through the stone. Whereas, some of the fancy cuts have higher "dropout" ratios. * now I'll have to go post in a "how to change the oil in your truck" thread to get my manliness back. I believe you've missed the point of the article and it's hypothesis. Further, your statements are actual supporting examples. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes" -
"This is how easy it is to buy guns in America"
RMK replied to Hooknswoop's topic in Speakers Corner
Living in the US in the 80's when the state moved the drinking age from 18 to 19 then 21 over a few years, I was legal drinking age (twice). Was odd to be able to go to bars and purchase alcohol for a near a year, then be underage again. Had one friend who was legal drinking age for just one day. Was always curious why a 20yr old having a beer or (God forbid) seeing a bare breast in the media/advertising would harm society. I think you need to give your WWII shit a rest. It’s not a suitable analogy. In the US blacks are still mistreated today; in Germany things have changed a lot – you should visit and see for yourself. The US gun/violence culture is fucked up. Yes, other advanced nations can and should speak up and say “look at how we do it here; this works fine and provides results”. Take a pause with the “Star Spangled Awesomeness” diatribe and have a closer look. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes" -

You are flying the UK flag, right? Don't be so concerned about what goes on here in the lower 48 as it doesn't affect your day to day. People being needlessly killed should concern everyone (again, do you read the shit you write?) I lived in the US south in the 70s and 80s, I'm intimately aware of how racist it was then and now. I'm willing to bet the guy was self medicating with other street-type psychotropics. I'm willing to bet... he's your standard-issue racist southern white trash with a readily apparent "issues". What should his parents have done? Of course give him a .45 for his birthday (not like his Facebook photo was any give-away of him being racist and psychologically unhinged). Jersey woman stabbed to death waiting for Gun Permit
RMK replied to jgoose71's topic in Speakers Corner
This concept of “violence is in our makeup” is incorrect and misguided. You refer to gunfights and duels; this came from and originated in Europe as did much of the background/makeup of the US. Whether persons wish to acknowledge or refute, the starting point of societal mores of the US/Europe are quite similar. We have developed differently in some aspects over the prior years. At points in our development as societies, we too thought it best that the populace all be “packing” guns for their safety. However, many of us (Europeans) live in cities with over 2000 years of development; whereas you’re sitting on just 250 years plus there. Teenagers will often present/believe their opinions to adults/parents as absolute truths, but the adults/parents disagree (and coincidentally held the same beliefs of said teenagers when they were younger, but have now matured and realise better). To be honest Europeans often view the US as the adolescents of the world stage. To our detriment, yes we have “seen it before”, but before you comment on EU politics, I’ll be the first to note we are like an old family arguing who never seems to resolve our problems either. The part of kallends stat he leaves out is that the majority of those he lists are criminals killing other criminals while committing criminal acts This data has been discussed prior. Subtract suicides; subtract criminal/criminal shootings - you still have gun deaths that are many multiples higher than any other advanced country. If you clicked on Andy' link below, you'll also see the number of around 100 child accidental shooting deaths per year in US. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes" -

I would have wanted them to attend to the problem in a manner similar to other advanced societies or G7 nations (or at the least, like persons with IQs above 70). Your ill trained police have to learn methods other than those of a Bruce Willis action movie. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
