If you have ever rode the plane down...
sigsby replied to gatorbait's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've seen it happen once and I've done it once. The first time I jumped the load before had two students who were just too scared to jump. I rode the plane down once because of engine trouble. We would have jumped but we were below 1000 feet. -
If a student is accidentally left alone...

Or a twin bonanza. -
Yes, yes! I am a tech and if ya need some help I'd be happy to. I'm not trying to be an extremist and I don't think I am. I think the site is great. Especialy the e-mail. I don't get any junk mail at all. I traded speed for that. However I would like to be able to get my mail. How can I help? I see you've set aside this special time to humiliate yourself in public. I'm getting really frustrated that I am not getting any new e-mail. This has been going on for some time and I am wondering what is being done about it. Get up, Fall down, No problem! Donald

I have never recieved any junkmail since I've had my e-mail account through dropzone.com. Today for the first time I recieved an e-mail from an unknown source and it also had an attachement with a virus. Fortunately I work with computers and expected the file to be infected. The e-mail came from hahaha@sexyfun.com. If you recieve an e-mail with an attchement from an unknown sender do not open it. Get up, Fall down, No problem! sigsby

I like the planes that take me to altitude and then I get to jump out of. Get up, Fall down, No problem! Donald

Can you believe this? We have been hammered with winter for what seems like forever here in the North East. Today is by far the best day we've had all year and I'm stuck at work. I'd rather be skydiving! Get up, Fall down, No problem! Donald

I jump at the Cleveland Parachute Center. I'm new to the sport and have only been to a few other drop zones but I've had fewer problems there and the people are great. The only problem I have had in Parkman is the weather. Other drop zones there have been many dificulties. As a student I've jumped in high winds at one drop zone. At another I had to fight to kepp my reserve from being deployed in the aircraft and had engine problems with the plane. I've never experienced any of the bad stuff in Parkman. I sure hope I'm not the only Deadhead skydiver. The spirit of the Grateful Dead must go on. I still haven't seen a tie dye canopy but I would realy like one. Get up, Fall down, No problem! sigsby

Hook turns are not allowed at my home DZ. I was jumping at another DZ last year and I couldn't believe how fast they would swoop in. A lot of the skydivers there did demo jumps all the time and had the ratings to go along. I'm not ready for all of that just yet. CREW looks like fun though. Get up, Fall down, No problem! sigsby

I've heard it mentioned that canopy control skills should be tougher to accieve your A license. So, instead of creating a new organizion with a new set of licenses then perhaps we should take a look at the current requirements. Get up, Fall down, No problem! sigsby

Three minute flights. I know that the $200.00 covers five flights and a video. I can do without the video, maybe they'll cut that out of the cost. Get up, Fall down, No problem! sigsby

Five flights and a coach for $200.00 If I'm gonna do it I might as well do it. I can't imagine I would get much from one flight. I'd be learning just wind tunnel stuff with very little instruction on the skydiving aspect. Get up, Fall down, No problem! sigsby

I am going to be in the Las Vegas area and I have been considering the wind tunnel. I've heard the it's a good way to learn skydiving skills. I am thinking about checking it out but at a cost of five jumps I'm wondering if it's worth the trade. Has anyone else here tried it and if so do you really think it helped. Would you recommend that a student skydiver use this as an additional learning tool? Get up, Fall down, No problem! sigsby

I did on my third static line. I was at a new drop zone in Arizona. The pilot took off like a maniac. Somewhere below 1000 feet the plane lost oil pressure. That brought us back down. I didn't like landing on the floor of the plane with my head between my legs and my hands behind my head. It definately did not inspire confidence. Get up, Fall down, No problem! sigsby

I've always thought foot in mouth disease was when you talk too much and tell the Rigger that your buddy is sleeping with the rigger's wife. Get up, Fall down, No problem! Sigsby

Well, as a child I would hear my dad talk about being in the 82nd airborne. I would hear stories about the machine gunner who jumped straight up instead of out of the plane, hit his ass and did a tumble out the plane. When he cut away his gear it wasn't secured and he lost it all. Or how about the maniac who was on leave and he jumped out of a four-story window with a bed sheet for a parachute. I guess it almost worked, but the sheet ripped and he died. I find that one kind of hard to swallow myself, but it could have happened. Later in my adult adolescence I had a nasty break up with my girlfriend of seven years. I was down and out and felt like the world was against me. A friend thought I should get out and do something to build my confidence. We tried white water rafting and that turned out to be quite a lame trip. The water level was just way too low. A couple of weeks went by and I decided I wanted to jump out of an airplane. He didn't like that idea. Didn't you know skydiving is expensive? I paid for the both of us and I loved it. I was back at the drop zone the next weekend. Winter fell and I found myself taking a trip to Arizona so I could jump out of airplanes. Why hadn't I tried it before is way beyond me.
